i agree with the OP..alot of what he/she brings up is true. The grind is definitely one of them. This game was much more enjoyable back in season 6-7 days. More and more bugs are being introduced and completely ignored, more and more esco rts online, fewer quality missions and more garbage. Thats it. Deny it all you want, the ones that do are Cryptic Apologists.
By the way, I hardly hardly ever play anymore myself because of how mind numbingly easy it is.
If the OP would share your easy attitude about the game he would not consider the quest to get Dil a „grind“ nor would he rage quit cuz of a lost PvP match where his almighty cloak was rendered useless in an opponent’s grav well.
One of the many many issues with the game, hence PvP is dead.
It's called power creep.
PvE is farrrrrr to easy because of it, instead of fixing the creep though, cryptic just adds more HP to each enemy.
The power creep then translates to super boosted skills in PvP.
You don't really need timing anymore, or much skill, it's all about the dps, p2w gear and the outright abuse of broken stuff (some of which has now been fixed).
I came back, tried against a fleet mate I knew I could beat, mainly to see how far off the mark I was.
Basically shields count for nothing in PvP as long as you use BFAW, DEM and something else that escapes me at this moment, you will melt hull through shields.
Now throw 5 of those into a fedball in PvP queues and you have a completely skilless setup that will melt a lot of players.
Everyone cried cannons were OP, which they weren't and that shows now massively, double tap was op it got fixed.
Now BFAW is massively OP yet won't get fixed.
PvP is dead, lack of balance saw to that, however balance plays no real part in PvE but the game needs to be looked at, 1 ship should not be able to take on 4 squads of Borg ships then take on a unimatrix all on its own.
I really don't see how power creep effects PvP to that extent, sure you have more destructive power in your weapons but you also have tougher shields and more powerful consoles and such but then so should the other side so you should be at least on equal footing with each other.
the PvP matchmaker should be set up to pair players or teams with equal weapons stats so in theory you should have a pretty even battle.
still I don't really PvP anyway so I guess I will have to take your word for it.
even so this should not effect PvE if you find PvE too easy use a lower tier ship and lower tier weapons to even the playing field.
I cant say I have noticed PvE as being easy, granted its not too hard but still far from being classed by me as easy.
I know most players use their best builds for PvE because during the mirror event some players were blowing away enemy with one or two hits and their shields weren't even wavering where I always use TXII gear in a T5 ship for that kind of event it makes it a bit tougher.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
I adored the Nukara expansion...it was so unusual! And a great battlezone. New Romulus had so much effort put into it...although I was unimpressed by having to join either FED or KDF and it not being a true new faction. Dyson...you can't fault the effort, because there's a lot of content there, but since that, there's just been nothing but arduous grinding and uninspiring things to do.
If he'd edit the Subject and last comment before the CM wakes up there is still a chance.

I feel your pain OP, take a break, I did and really helped me realize that there are no good games out there, even if the grass seems greener on the other side, when you get there you realize that is brown as well. If you still decide to stop playing, just take a break, maybe few months. If you come back always can ad me as a friend and we can patrol the galaxy together. I agree, theres nothing wrong with airing your views in this forum and nothing at all wrong with taking a break, if it hadn't been for the fact that this is an "I QUIT!" thread things would have been a lot different.
lock coming soon....stay tooned.

DR killed it with its mountain of grinds and powercreep.
rofl? Dude I hope you do realize you and your buddies are sitting in billions of ECs worth ships in that video. You in bastion, others in bugship (godship), wells, palisade, etc... All promo, lobi and lockbox ships. Dunno about your gears, that's probably another few billions of EC. Yes very balanced.....
In DR devs just upped the bar a little. You just had to put in the exact same amount of EC as you did pre-expansion. Look at that as a tabula rasa. If a new player comes in and put the same amount EC in the game like you did, he can stand up to your godships...
like I said in my last post I am 57 years old and cant ever imagine wanting to leave sto, to all you young pups out there that quit the game cos you cant hack it just remember and be haunted by the fact that this old f@rt beat you at your own game. LOL.
Not really, I see it something as a akin of tossing a grenade over your shoulder as you leave a room and locking the door behind you. "I Quit" posts has nothing to do with any kind of constructive criticism toward the game because if you are going to quit, then why should you care about the quality or state the game is in? There are plenty of complaint threads by folks that are hanging in there and although there are some childish complaint threads, alot of them are just as constructive.
"I Quit" threads is the final childish act of a player or ex-player to either get the masses behind them in some grand exodus or just to get the final jab at the game, developers, or fellow players, or just a desperate play for attention. It lacks maturity and so the inevitable immature responses are bound to be a result of it. If someone wants to lump everyone into a "troll" category that's fine and frankly I don't give a damn. There is a reason why "I Quit" threads are not allowed but apparently the OP wasn't considering that for his "grand exit."
Seems to me that most "I Quit" threads by people being childish and wanting a "grand exit" would likely use more middle fingers or curses when they leave. The OP was civil. Something lost on you, apparently. I have quit other games and left rants. Generally, if a game is going well and people are not upset, they have no reason to post. Other than to look up information, I would never post in a forum if the game was good. I would be playing it! That said, it could be surmised that frequent forum posters are the real "attention" TRIBBLE. Just sayin'.
we cant always be playing sometimes we might be away from home, maybe at work on a break, maybe outside tescos waiting for the old wife while shes doing the shopping or maybe just watching the grandkids.
what better way to pass some time then trawling the forum on the mobile.
especially if I can have a good laugh cos some other young whippersnapper could not make the grade and had to bale.
that might make me one of the "real "attention" TRIBBLE" but at least I aint a quitter.
Quitting is never an option on the road to success. Find the way forward. If you have a positive mindset and are willing to persevere, there is little that is beyond your reach. The attitude of being ready to go on even in the face of challenges and despite odds is what will make all the difference in your life.
One of the best decisions that you could ever make in your life, is to vow to never accept quitting as a final answer.
Well, I can appreciate a good challenge and many others do too. However, when basic mechanics are broken or bugged, that is a whole different story. Most of my angst with this game is the unstable servers. Sometimes I can play for hours, most of the time I get booted every 15 minutes. Usually when just surfing the exchange. I will note the latest update seems better.
Forgive me for lumping everyone who forum surfs into "attention" TRIBBLE. Shrimphead just angered me when he/she lumped all "I quit" threads into the same category. I am 40 myself and no kid. However, when I do get limited time to play the long grind that is specialization points, I get upset with getting booted. I love most of the story but feel, there is too little of it. It seems other MMO's do better at adding content. I do get the FTP model but I would gladly pay for some content. More stories.
By the way @shrimphead2015, I fail to see how your response to me made any sense. As I said the OP was quite civil. Did not sound like a "rage" quit to me or an attention seeker. Guess we will just agree to disagree.
Read through this as I have some ideas how to fix PVP. LMAO at the powercreep thing. Seriously get over it. Like real life some things will have an edge over something else. Whining about how such and such is overpowered and there's power creep imho a sign of a player who 1 Doesn't want to learn new tactics 2 Doesn't want to improve their gear or game play 3 Feels entitled to being the top dog 4 Feels that nobody else should ever be able to challenge them or be equal to them. 5 Spams the forums with endless cries of Nerf it Nerf it It killed my God ship. An example of what players like this did to a game was in World of Wa craft with the DK's. The walking God Paladins who were pretty much invunerable had a match to them in power. The Devs got endless cries of Nerf them they killed me whaaa over and over. Bliz answer was guttin the DK's to where they were a joke and at the same time buffed the whiners class. So here we are in STO with some crying nerf nerf becasue there's power creep in PVP. Ok fine you want PVP fixed so everyone is on the same footing? Here's how and it will let the best players shine not just the wallet warriors.
Ships : No ships higher then rewarded (not c-store) T-5
Consoles : No consoles outside of what comes with the T-5 no LVL 14's etc. Just the baseline stone stock gear that comes with the ship.
Shields and everything else : same as above only the bare bones stock gear. No crafted gear no C-store gear No rep gear No epic No ultra rare and so on just the basic gear that came with your ship.
These changes would make PVP SKILL BASED NOT WALLET BASED and be a true reflection of how skilled you are.

TLDR for the rest. Shorter is sweeter.
