"Oh ye of little faith": Guess what was announced? That's right. Defiant, B'Rel, T'Varo release is coming very soon. Likely this coming thursday "soon."
Was there really any doubt there would be T6 versions of these?
Me, personally, no.
But you had a good number of guys out there that doubted this was ever going to happen. They even doubted all those prior ship release "rumors" even after the rumors eventually became true. And like clockwork, they even doubted the Defiant / B'Rel / T'Varo release.
I'm most happy with the B'Rel. The KDF is finally getting it's first BOP in T6. And a good choice, IMO. Because I still remember us after STO launched asking for Cryptic to implement the canon B'Rel into endgame use because only the Hegh'ta existed in the game at the time for endgame.
If it comes down to unique ships, unique gameplay, the Bird of Prey concept is the last thing the KDF can truly call its own that cannot be replicated anywhere. Not even the other Raiders: Plesh Brek, Kazon Heavy Raider, Aquarius, nor the brand spanking new T6 Herald Raider. They come close to the Bird of Prey but lack all the characteristics that make the BOP a BOP.
It didn't happen at the same time as season 11 so I'm still collecting on my bets! All 285K gold latinum!
I'm almost glad it did happen, but I'm not going to say if I'll get them. the stats would have to be the deciding factor.
If one notes how Cryptic has converted ship stats from T5->T6, you can already accurately predict what most of the crucial stats will be. The variables will be the new console/console set bonus, what sort of limited specialization Cryptic will assign. Everything else is easy to foresee.

I hope this is an intel themed ship! I've been dying to see an intel based BoP!

Actually this was known in the same way we know the Rezreth is coming and that the Rezreth is an Eng focused ship. You can ship cards for them in Admiralty.
So pumped for these ships I will buy the 3 ship pack. Hoping for a 5/2 weapons layout but prepared for standard 4/3
defiant and Tvaro may have 4/3, B'rel standard is 4/2, though one can hope that they implement the same as they did with the herald raider and go 5/1, for a raider that has a focus on cannons and canonically no rear weapons it would make more sense... no-one every claimed cryptic was logical and it wouldn't fit their pattern either.

I wonder though; will it follow the Pathfinder or the Andromeda Boff layout? The Pathfinder didn't need a change the way the Andromeda did since it could manage as-is thanks to Sci skills, but the Andromeda needed the change since Eng skills are mostly useless. The Defiant's own setup could manage on its own if following the Pathfinder setup, but I suspect it might follow the Andromeda just to give it an LtC Pilot seat rather than an Lt Pilot.
Your supporting the game so don't feel bad about spending y'all. Lol. Buying one ship every other month is no different that paying the subscription We used to.
Each of these starships can unlock the Withering Barrage starship trait by achieving level 5 in their Starship Mastery. While this trait is equipped, the duration of your Cannon: Scatter Volley is increased by 4 seconds.
Going once, going twice, going three times, sold!

Well,it's a bit more expensive. But you can choose not to buy a month, or for several months, and still play with your toys, unlike in a sub-based game. Some people more, others pay less.

They knocked it out of the park with that.
If the ship didn't excel at something then it was going to be just another run of the mill release that was only good for people that wanted the skin. The challenge was creating a ship that stands out knowing that the Pilot Escorts have already set the gold standard.
This trait makes the Defiant potentially a worth while purchase. Extending the duration so much should hopefully allow a long enough firing cycle to let the cannons take advantage of overcapping during scatter volley. If so, then it's quite possible that the Defiant will become the go to ship for anyone that wants to use Cannons.
This trait might be good enough to get people back to using Cannons. It's a potential game changer.
I just converted to Beams after being a cannon disciple since Beta. Like seriously, just 2 days ago! Why couldn't this information come out then? I'd still have my pride.
Cheers from Antonio Valerio Cortez III, Half-Celestial Archduke of the Free Marches Confederacy.
That cannon trait really looks like it has some potential. Anything to give people an alternative to BFAW-spam which is all anyone seems to use these days.
Might just tempt me to save for it and then slot the trait on my Vesta. I miss being able to use my cannon boats effectively, they've been left behind for too long.

Oh
It's just a B-o-P. No hangars or anything.
I just strip-mined my alts to piece together the resources for a Vonph Carrier. Now I will strip mine my wallet.
The K'vort is not canon in the STO universe. IT only ever appeared in another timeline (the Enterprise-C-didn't-die timeline).
It is also nothing more than a glorified B'rel which was filmed to look bigger due to budget limitations.

Thats what I'm saying- a light raider that outguns a heavy cruiser is just soooo wrong.

Not true. There was a K'Vort-class identified on screen in the proper timeline.

In fact, I believe all the supersized BoPs in TNG with the wings permanently flipped up were supposed to be K'Vorts.

No there was no doubt. Only question was when. Obviously Cryptic is just gonna rehash all the old favorites to T6 and take more of your money!

Yea, considering that the global CD of CSV is just 15 seconds this is beyond awesome for cannon builds.
In consideration of the FAW favored meta in this game I really hope they mean it with this all faction covered trait and don’t get cold feet here.
I abandoned 4 of my 6 cannon builds the past year and really waited for something like this. It's more than fair.
