Continuous Server Disconnects "Server Not Responding"

Don't know if this is happening for anyone else, but I keep getting DC'd every 5 minutes or so, sometimes sooner. Forced me to quit the foundry mission I was on, couldn't stand having to jump back to where I was just to do it all over again.

Every time, I get the following:

Error: Server Not Responding (x:xx secs)

Followed by:

Disconnected From Server

Then it drops me right back at the login screen so I can rinse and repeat. It's VERY frustrating, and makes playing impossible. Is this another DDOS, are there simply too many people for the server to handle, are Cryptic's servers finally crapping out for good?

I don't know what's going on, so any help or support would be greatly appreciated.

I have similar problems during specific hours of the night, every night. And have read of others complaining about this.

I would guess it is most likely that they cannot handle the amount of gamers during 'peak' playing times that they have for STO, and/or that because of the heavy traffic, the servers are disconnecting all non-gold players during such periods when new login demands force the matter. I would be interested to know if the servers have the ability to differentiate like that between gamers, I would certainly weigh that into my decision to go Gold or not.

Yes this is getting very old for me. Most of the time i play around 6-9pm...well i try and play. But it seems that right after they did some network fixes my connection to the server has been very very poor. It is getting impossible to play STO with the constant SNR bs. My internet is fine and i can play other games just fine. But when it comes to STO i cant! I have know idea what to do about this!

I have gone for months with no problems at all. Lately, I get bumped off at least three times every time I play. The SNRs go on for about two minutes, followed by a disconnect. When trying to log in again, I get the "Trying to Update Launcher - Tried X Times." message. Has not happened for a long time. Naturally now that I am trying to run a Fleet, it starts occuring.

Naturally, there will not be any public acknowledgement of these problems, by anyone at Perfect World or Cryptic, either. At least until the part where they cannot get paid for things which people buy. Only then will something be done. So, if anyone is expecting Trendy or a Dev to answer this thread, I very strongly advise not holding your breath.

Please note that this will affect whether I recommend the game to anyone else, and whether or not I keep playing the game and buying zen. When you have an awesome, tense duel with an enemy ship that you are on the cusp of winning get screwed over by a damned server error, it make you look at the MMOs on your HD.

So the all day maintenance today appears to have done nothing. Still getting disconnected every 5 minutes. Maybe if the bug reports, chats, and facebook pages were flooded with comments of just "SERVER NOT RESPONDING" over and over they'd see how annoying it is and acknowledge it?

I agree, allowing this issue to linger like it has is going to cost them a signicant amount of players, patience only lasts so long, and when a problem like this drags on for days... weeks... people move on to other things,

Bad for biz... people don't spend money when they don't trust the product.

I have the same thing with continuous "Server not responding" messages. For me seems directly related to Windows 10. Didn't have issue in Windows 8, loaded Windows 10 - problems, reverted to Windows 8 - no issue, reloaded Windows 10 - problems. Pull out my laptop running Windows 7, same time of day, same network - no problems.

I have widows 7 and have been having the same problem as every one else. Always getting logged out 3-4 times a day it has to be on cryptics part they need to invest in the game running smoothly instead of hiring over paid actors to do voice overs as cool as that is.This keeps up its back to total war for me or some other game that runs SMOOTHLY !!

Issues picked up last night with same symptoms as the last major round of server issues (where they had to go to their ISP to get the problem resolved.) Disconnects, connection time outs, and dropped connection at the second to last hop.

I am begining to enjoy the Server Not Responding every 15-20 seconds. It is like nice little breaks. It is like the game is saying "Hey, relax and just look at your character and everything frozen" When it happens in an STF and you get penalized because you spend the bulk of it SNR and get a penalty for not participating it is like the game saying "Hey man, no need to be greedy. You don't really need those marks and stuff, do you?"

These connection issues are the same reason I stopped playing a few months back. I've been back and week and it's still ongoing. This time I did not buy a new ship and extra zen. I do not have a problem paying, but I do have a problem with never getting an explanation for the network issues. Before it seemed to be an issue with folks that were on Comcast. I'm not sure what the ratio is now, but my guild mates that are not on Comcast have no issues. Unfortunately, those of us that are having issues are in the minority, so we will never get an explanation.

Yep I -managed- to complete the Featured Ep on one chara. That was with at least 5 disconnects and a good long time dealt with SNR. Now of course I first suspected my connection but its clean and working well. Which means... that its STO. So... ya FYI connection to your servers STO is very tenuous at best.

i havent had DC or server not responing problems only started for me only a couple days ago just as the rewards giveaway came up. i love this game but if cryptic is trying to lose money by angering a lot of players with their server issues they better buy another one to correct it or they are in for a lot more problems than they can handle

This is identical to the last round of major connection issues in another way, using a VPN gets around the connection problems. Cryptic might want to call their ISP again to get this sorted out.

You could try letting STO through your antivirus filters. I don't know of any possible risk and, Cryptic ISP issues or no, it's probably causing problems for you. It also seems strange that your antivirus is picking up STO as a false positive (none I've used have ever done that.)

...you might also want to consider swapping antivirus software. I can recommend Avast! as a good free option.

Last night this didn't appear to affect most people. It's also gone now. A few months ago Cryptic ran into a problem with their ISP. Something was wrong just upstream of them which made connecting from certain other networks quite difficult during peak US hours. They had to contact their ISP's technical support to get it resolved. It really wasn't their problem and it seems like a similar thing is going on here. The game has been fine for quite a while now but the uptick in users from the new season may have pushed Cogent's fix over the edge.

Again, using a VPN can get around the problem (since it re-routes your traffic around the ISP's problem spot.) WTFast is the client I'm using at the moment, works well without any real technical setup or data caps. There are certainly other choices available but this is the one I've found that's most optimal to short-term STO re-routing.
