And game immersion dies a little bit more...

    :/

And how is this any different from Halloween/Christmas events in sci-fi/fantasy games not set on Earth yet celebrated by everyone, including enemies?

Er... last time I checked Halloween / Christmas were (still) religious / cultural events. BTTF is a film belonging to a different / non-ST franchise.

Will we be celebrating May the Fourth next year with a complimentary set of Storm Trooper armour? :*

    Heh...
Those of us that have been around awhile, might just remember the first Winter Event...,
In which there was a certain small, green, big eared creature, living in an igloo, who was giving away Glowing Weapons (Bat'leth's and Lirpa's).
But of course, this had nothing to do with a certain "Other" IP.

This is amusing. It would be even better with Marty's jacket.

I'm almost positive that one can create an "Orange Life Jacket" in the Tailor.

I have my suspicions but I think Doc brown is secretly a Klingon agent in disguise.

So it clearly states that this is a powerboard, but I am confused about whether this item can be collected by each of our Captains or just one.

    Yep - they're part of the "New Dawn Giveaway", Inventory Slots until 10PDT tomorrow, and something else every day until New Dawn comes on the 27th;

I'd better keep an eye on that then. Don't want to miss any of those goodies.

not a bad way to get around Risa
  • lindalefflindaleff Member Posts: 3,734 Arc User
The very fact that they only work on Risa makes them completely useless. Outside the Summer Event, there is no reason to go to Risa, at all. That means the Risa-only stuff just takes up room in your bank, and never gets used for a year.

Also, I have never seen Back To The Future.

    Thanks for the free surfboard, I am glad you guys had the common sense to limit the use on one planet. So what are we using for the technical excuse "they don't work anywhere else"? If you haven't come up with one yet, you can always use this;

Extremely rare, omicron particles are produced only by a particular species of fish in the oceans of Risa as a waste byproduct. The "Flyer" using a negative polarized potential energy field, generated by induced wave form of the plasma discharge. Turning the potential downward thrust into kinetic energy. Maintaining a reversion barrier between the omicron particles and the bottom surface of the board, which is coated with positive polarized hull plating.

    -OR-

If you believe, clap your hands!

    Have Fun!

But yet, no one whined at all when it was shown that a small version of the millennium falcon and an R2D2 were floating around in the debris field in the latest Trek films...

Wait a minute, the board these were based off of we pretty useless over water, so why do these ones work only over water?

Isn't it obvious? They reversed the polarity of the hover systems.

Perhaps the material that makes up the pads on the bottom of the board only works best when WET?

    I know right?

One of the things I enjoy most about SWTOR is the abundance of speeders and vehicles in the Fleet Starbase....

    Oh, wait.

Also, I don't recommend watching the relevant BTTF movie with the hoverboards less you risk depression at how little progress has been made by the generations of slackers over the last 30 years compared to the predictions of ambitious 80's writers.

Heh, the depression while watching bttf2 comes from just how much progress special effects departments have made since then. I'd forgotten just how clunky the effects were in the hoverboard scene.

Because of course it has clearly nothing to do with Back to the Future, which is an intellectual property not owned by CBS. It was just a happy coincidence that Cryptic decided to release a special flyer for use on Risan waters.

I'd ask about the Delorean as well, but it seems to have been dismantled. The Flux Capacitor is sitting in a case on the Krenim conference room in the episode "Midnight".

Is there seriously a flux capacitor-looking object in that episode?? O_O

That moment you realize something from a movie from Universal Studios is in a game from a TV/movie series from Paramount :p

Can we get the Millennium Falcon next?

Shhhh... what you actually mean to/should say is that you "can't wait for a new variant skin for the pilot ships that has no wings and is a bit more rounded"! :D:p

You'd never be able to find an excuse to put a cockpit on the side to complete the look, so that's as probably as close as you'd get. Although... if you wanted an homage to the silhouette, you could have a side mounted deflector that juts out like the Falcon's cockpit.

And yes I know you are joking but... I'm not. LOL!
