It's pretty much become a mix between the toys (Fun Mechanics) and Story for me. As for character advancement, that's just getting more toys :P. Socializing? I used to, but I have almost completely stopped socializing in STO and do that elsewhere these days.

Edit: Well maybe I'm still socializing on the forums instead, I seem to have become a forumite!

    The story/episodes
The episodes, hands down. That also includes the Foundry missions. The draw for me was never that it's an MMO because I didn't care about that aspect, I wanted to see how they did for the episodes & how integrated overall in the main storyline my toon was. Digging through the Foundry ended up being like a bonus on top of that, we have some very talented players creating great missions with that.

I still look forward to the new episodes, and still like seeing what comes out of the Foundry. Those are inherently more Trek (and what I'm after) than anything else the game offers.

less QQ more Pew Pew. I'm here for the fun of combat and to play with ships. I used to love using mmo's for socializing, a very long time ago. That changed the more I had to deal with drama. Have had enough of that with family and friends. Now I dont care so much, just want a game that updates and releases more content. I get bored with games that only add dlc for a year after its released. .... Sometimes I meet a genuinely decent person ingame that is worth spending time with, just doesn't happen that often.

Need something to fill my screen while I do other things... An elaborate screensaver.
Don't look silly... Don't call it the "Z-Store/Zen Store"...
Let me put the rumors to rest: it's definitely still the C-Store (Cryptic Store) It just takes ZEN.

I love Star Trek...I was sorta raised on it in my youth, I was born around the time TNG started...watched everything show after with my Mom...saw every TMP and TNG movie with her...

Plus sorta have a love/hate relationship with the game...I hate the condition of the game and what the devs are doing to it...but I love Trek...so I play, though not as much as I used to.

No other comparable MMO game with similar mechanics(in space, ground is not very interesting, ton of other MMO games offer ground battles done much better than STO) is available. And although I am deeply dissapointed with how things are going since DR I spent too much time in it to just throw it away entirely.

Other. as I enjoy a bit of everything. Trek, stories, roleplaying, ground/space, improving my character's gearing & build.
The game surely has its' issues, no denial about it, but it has been a source of fun for me in past 2-years, got me into Star Trek... so gonna be around and hope for the game to grow better and nicer for everyone. :3

It may sound strange but i like this game cuz i don't have to interract with other players too much and i can just pug or solo whatever i want. I can completely ignore fleets with that require you to play certain content with certain ppl at certain time and sit in TS as long as you stay online (if there are any such fleets in STO lol). I just open up pve menu, press a button and start smashing enemy heads. Thats all i want. Yes pugging took a serious hit after DR and i miss the days when queues were full of ppl but its still possible to pug. Only other MMO i tried to play was ESO and while i really really liked the game the fact that i couldn't pug most of endgame content and had to deal guilds and their rules if i wanted do anything after story quests were completed was a deal breaker for me.

Addiction. I feel like if I don't refine the 8k dilithium cap daily then I'm wasting it.

I do have fun when there's content updates though.

    Socializing(RP, fleets, etc)
Definitely the social aspect hands down.
There are plenty of older singleplayer Star Trek games out there that are far superior gameplay and content wise to STO.

Because I find clicking a mouse button... a million times in the space of an hour, thrilling beyond measure. After 5 year I have set myself the goal of making it into the Great Hall... just once ... with the sliding door that opens when I reach it. To find the doff mission where prisoners actually have the required traits.. oh the joy! I particularly cherish those epic moments in the game when rubberband myself into the Stone Age.

I come from a Pen and Paper or Game Console background as far as games go.

I spent a few years tending a sick parent, couldn't get out except to my paycheck job, and this became my game, social outlet, and craft project. I played it with family and friends. I brought them over from Torchlight because HEY! this is Star Trek!I like all of it, except glitches, but hey, I play 'Fallout' so I have seen some doozies. ;)

All aspects are important, and need to be in some kind of harmony. Sometimes that seems like it will never quite happen. I am hopeful :)

Yep. I do NOT use the game to make friends, socialize, etc. I don't want to talk to anyone. I want to fly my ship. I want to make my ship more powerful. I want bigger, faster, explosions. I'm a ROM TAC and I Shoot the Big Guns. Step.

All of the above to some degree, I like that i can just drop in and do whatever I feel like that day. It's so far the only MMO I keep coming back to.

I watched Star Trek when it first aired in 65 and have watched every series and film and played most every game too. I was glad when STO came along I've played since the beta. It's not perfect, but it's better than nothing and besides I enjoy it.
