I have to ask; how do you get the depth of field effect on your pictures?
In my case, taking a screnshot while running a recorded demo with Demorecord Tool & editing it afterwards. I highlight some details and make some things more pronounced, to give the pictures more 'artistic' feel.

VERY rarely; i only had it happen once, maybe twice for me with the old ship, and since i haven't done romulan patrols in over a year i've never seen it trigger the herald ship at all
Yesterday was the first time Neelix Chef needed my help, instead of that overseer with her problem of people mixing up their shifts.
And to add some actual screenshots to the thread:
Special thanks go to the Iconians, without them blowing up Romulus I couldn't have made that last shot.

Seems to merely be a hull pattern. My Reman uses a similar warbird (I think with different nacelles) with dark blue instead of that yellow.

Toiva is correct - I used one of the hull patterns (Virgo, maybe?) and set the accent colors to a bright gold and a nice red. No shield visuals - in fact I think when I took this shot the stock MkX white shield array was still in place.

Makes me wonder what settings you folks are using to get your ships so amazing-looking! Every shot I give still looks terribly ordinary...

/renderscale 2 or higher; just be careful with any number higher than 2 - if your computer isn't sufficiently powerful enough to handle the resolution change, it'll crash the game

First, I would take a few minutes to read up on how demorecord works; a good starting point can be found here. Short form: this allows you to record the gameplay in a given map, then play it back at leisure, complete with the ability to position the camera as you wish. With the minor caution noted in the article, almost all the /commands operate here, including /renderscale and /setregionfov (reference). Note: when playing with the FOV and renderscale here for those screen grabs, be sure to return them to their default values before quitting, otherwise you'll find that these changes carry over to the game proper.
Note: the command-line argument for demo playback is...
-demoplay X.demo
...where X is whatever you named the particular demo; click the 'Options' link in the launcher to find the appropriate text box.
Has anyone ever tried to recreate images like these?
I'd really love to see some folks try to recreate epic TV/Movie moments and capture them. We all do the returning home and docking one, I think. So kudos to anyone who pulls one or more of these recreations off.

Run Forest......erm I mean Kirk run!
Boy, the Klingons don't do anything small do they?
Got some shots from a 20 player Starbase Fleet Defense today.
On a related note, does anybody know if there's an option to disable ability FX in demo record playback? For example, attack pattern visuals, or EtP etc.
Join date is wrong, I've actually been around since STO Beta.

As far as I know, yes, but I have never tested it myself, to see exactly what all it actually removes!

Yeah, I was playing around with it for ages yesterday trying to remove them but couldn't figure out an easy way of doing so. The one way I did find was to pick and choose which effects it actually displayed, but that is a very time consuming thing to do because each beam fire for instance had four or five effects which you needed to find and toggle back on. I may have another play.

Both the Feds and the Roms have a "Space Based" Memorial. Do the Klingons have one. Praxis maybe?
Praxis remains are there, but no memorial. I think the Klingons don't really do sorrow and mourning much (or well). Still also a neat photo shoot location.

Ok. So this is my third post to STO, and my first attempt at screenshots. Still learning, but I LOVE my Nihydron Destroyer!!

Orb Weaver having an... unfortunate encounter of the tricobalt variety.
Different compositions of the same point in time (ISS Schwarze on attack run).
Dude, this is exactly how I had mine outfitted. Two thumbs up!
Is that a Patrol Escort? I have one with pretty much the exact same gear.

Is that the Omega shield visuals?

Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!
Siege Destroyers look best in siege mode, in my opinion.
