The free T6 Andromeda ship and instant level 60 has been verified by Trendy as legit though.
    Wait wait wait, hold on.

I'd like to point out that we have given out in emails the equivalent of that. However, now that it is well known we've done that, it would be very easy to use that public knowledge to create a potentially fake email that has that in there as well as more! Just click here and put in your credit card because totes legits1!!1one

Until I get more information, I always err on the side of security. This included verifying whether or not those were two separate emails, or a single joint email. This is because I have never heard of a 1k ZEN = 10K ZEN email, so I'd like to doublecheck first.

Hey it's a good incentive for returning players. I am not jealous of them one bit, I earned my level 60, I earned my ships, I take pridei nt hat. But I've also been doing the MMORPG thing for almost 20 years now. Well close to it anyways.

Wait, maybe I skipped over something, but how to get that T6 free ship?

They've sent an email to people who spent at least a month without login in giving them a free Andromeda and an instant level up to level 60, but if you play the game you are screwed.

Hmm, I spent almost entire summer without a login, and got nothing :(

That was the basic premise, I think it ended up being completely random.

That's what I was referring to.

As for this, I wasn't saying you verified the OP's claim on this 1,000 zen = 10,000 bonus zen thing, or any part of it.

And you didn't even quote my whole post. Yeah, I spelled out that it could be a scam since it's well known now that you guys gave some players a special promotion to come back to the game.

I play at least once a week and most times a lot more than that. I got the Andromeda email. Another fleet mate got it and he plays occasionally. The rest of my fleet did not get the Andromeda email.

I received the free T6 Andromeda email. There was no other email promo received afterward. I haven't gotten another email of any kind from anything related to STO since that last T6 promo email.

Moreover, I find it absurdly unlikely that Cryptic/PWE would EVER be THAT generous as to offer an extra 10 to 1 for a purchase of $10.

Edit: Also, FWIW, I received this email after I had already come back from my lengthy hiatus from the game, though it was close. I think I had only started playing again a week or so before the email arrived on the 11th.

I kind of want this to be true just to see what kind of storm it generates... because I could stomach not getting a free ship and 10 free spec points... (even if it did make me unhappy) but $100 worth of zen for free? That would be a severe kick in the teeth to anyone who plays even semi-regularly...

At first I was kind of ticked at this T6 give away for absent players.. But hey whatever draws people back.

I would like to see some customer loyalty programs though... like "hey you bought 2k zen and have logged in every week bogging down our servers, here is 5% off for anything in the store until Sept 30th"... or just something

Some people can afford the ship fine... no big deal..

Some of us (like me) hybrided it.. used dil and zen to buy the ship..

Some people are stretched tight for cash, not that they are cheap, but hey they got bills to pay. So it might put them off a bit seeing someone else who hasnt logged in for a long time get something free they themselves had been working towards. It takes 84+ dedicated days of dill grinding to get a 3000 zen ship given the current market. Thats assuming you have one character and not one of these nutty people with 20 alts.

If it makes you feel any better, I'm one of those who only actively plays a single character, and that character happens to be KDF, so while the additional spec points were nice, the Andromeda was practically useless to me, and my KDF is still flying a Hegh'ta.

I can live without the Andromeda, boost to 60, and whatever else someone may have gotten to come back...perfectly fine with that...but if this 10000 zen with the purchase of a 1000 zen is real...well that would upset me a little.

"Thank you for redeeming your free T6 Andromeda-Class Cruiser. The specials aren't over, though. We have another offer to thank you for playing Star Trek Online. Until September 30, 2015 only, buy 1000 zen and you will receive 10,000 zen extra. This is a targeted offer which is linked to your Perfect World account."

a fleet mate copied an email he received and pasted it into chat. he indeed purchased 1k zen and got a 10k bonus uhhhh...?

That was/is part of an offer to bring back players who haven't logged into the game in a while (usually 3 months to 1 year); and most F2P game developers (not just Cryptic) do stuff like that to try and lure past players like that back and get them to spend some more. And obviously it worked in your friend's case as he spent some RL cash for Zen.

As someone who recently came back to the game, the email is actually what got me back. Since I said "hey since they're giving me a free ship I guess I'll give it another go". So to me it makes sense to throw a little something out there to older players to bring them back. I doubt they did what the OP claims but a ship isn't too bad.

So is this just some guy telling stories? I don't see any screen shots.

Since Trendy doesn't know anything about it we can safely assume, for the time being, it's just someone telling stories. That doesn't stop people from throwing a delicious tantrum, though pig-2.gif

Well, it could also be a new type of scam. Since Cryptic now has also the honor of being targeted by DDOS attacks...

But assuming it's just a made-up story seems reasonable, until further information is provided.

In any case, current occurences leave no indication that it is a legit officially sanctioned event, but as I said, people still rage about something seeming only very theoretical possible pig-3.gif
