nothing on twitter no comment from anyone with sto or cryptic what is going on?
I don't know why people keep saying there's nothing on Twitter.
Because there is nothing on twitter about TODAY'S issue. Those tweets about yesterday were about yesterday, not today. So until a new tweet is made about TODAY'S issue, then linking to twitter is pointless.
So yesterday was 1 hour ago?
Hence the title, "9/19 Server Down...Cannot load Launcher"
Today is 9/19.
You've confused twitter and reddit.
Fascinating. One would not expect a Trek fan and MMO player to make such a error
Too bad there wasn't a single forum for this game where status can be reported.
Even the thread posted on reddit was NOT made by any official person from Cryptic, therefore it means no more than any other random thread on this forum.

In the absence of any other data I thought it might be relavent.
If we could tell the launcher to use the IP vs the domain name, we could all probably connect.
You can tell windows in the hosts file to do this. I did this and the patcher launches but you cannot log in gives error "Unable to authenticate: Couldn't even attempt account server connection"

He was probably the first one to get into the office, after all these people were home for the weekend, they had get notified of the problem, then get to the office to be able to do anything about it, and who knows how long that could take where they are, I certainly have no idea of their local traffic system.
What do you mean get into the office? You don't have to be in the office to post on social media.

Yeah I know what that's like, in mfg we were running 24/7 with people on-call, more than once I went in at 2 or 3 in the morning after a full day. By now they have had more than enough time to get in and make an initial assessment. With all the issues they have been having someone should be their working 24/7.

It is as relevant as quoting one of the posts made in this thread.

That is true, but if your posting from outside the office then your not able to work on the problem and claiming you are is therefore a falsehood.
The community team doesn't "work" on the game; they are just PR people. Also, no one claimed they were "working" on anything, just looking into it.
Well, I don't have the foggiest idea what's going on tonight with the servers. I, too, am getting the 23 attempts to connect, followed by 'unable to establish connection to patch server' message, and yes, it is particularly annoying. I just hope the engineering teams can find the problem(s) and get them fixed, hopefully soon.
I will say, though, I'd personally welcome some extra perks for all players out of this, but I know that's not my place to decide on that.
All that I ask of the engineering teams is that they can find the problems and fix them in such a way that they can prevent, or otherwise minimize the liklihood of a repeat of what's going on.

Only this is not a DDOS attack.
This...is different.
Don't know what went wrong, but it is not ddos

Oh My... You don't even want to know what they are saying.....

You can find/contact me in game as @PatricianVetinari. Playing STO since Feb 2010.

They should really make an app or something so twitter can be used with mobile devices.

Yeah because 8088s could run something like this.
We come in peace, SHOOT TO KILL!
1.) No future proofing/litigation/long term fixes will occur
2.) No compensation of any kind will occur
So everyone should just keep those in mind. The servers will come back up eventually but this WILL happen again, it's just an inevitability.
I don't know about anyone else, but I logged a support ticket with the relevant details.
