LOL at least Neverwinter gets updates.

He was probably the first one to get into the office, after all these people were home for the weekend, they had get notified of the problem, then get to the office to be able to do anything about it, and who knows how long that could take where they are, I certainly have no idea of their local traffic system.

What do you mean get into the office? You don't have to be in the office to post on social media.

That is true, but if your posting from outside the office then your not able to work on the problem and claiming you are is therefore a falsehood.

Speaking as someone who actually works in IT as a Systems Administrator...

It would be very surprising if they actually had to 'get to the office'. You can administer, reboot, and even power up a UPS remotely from home via a VPN connection. This nonsense about needing to get to the office completely misses the boat. Yes, it can bite (I'm looking for a new line of work), but I've gotten calls at 3AM and have gotten up, connected to the work network and logged into servers within 15 minutes.

There is no explanation other than a rather high degree of amateurism for the lack of communication to the user base on this outage. It would never, never fly in my IT department.

Wouldn't we all like a roll back to Season 5 and have to work for everything all over again? o:)

I have a feeling this is going to take a day or two to sort out.

Appreciate the continued feedback including http://crypticstudios.com being down. Our engineering team is looking into these issues.

I am starting to think that someone didn't renew their domain name, as it has been suggested.

As others have noted.. This is NOT a DDoS .. UNLESS it is a straight up DDoS on Cryptic's DNS server its self.. The game servers are actually still online...

However, I have found a solution.. Which was also mentioned earlier in this thread... A good HOSTS file trick.. I did some searching and found the required IP addresses and domain addresses needed for the launcher to proceed and connect to the required servers..

NOW you would be wise to just wait for Cryptic to sort this out.. AND if you do this make sure to undo it later in case Cryptic changes the IP addresses later on.. However, here is the IP/Domain pairs you need for your HOSTS file...

They are not needed at the office to fix issues. Unless its a problem where you have to put your hands on it and do it from there. My cousin works at a computer repair contractor/ IT department. First he tries to fix it on-line, if not then he has to go to the site to fix it hands on. He even fixed my computer once from his home.

I usually play when the traffic is low and not many is on. Even then I saw all kinds of issues. Lag, rubber banding, and got disconnected several times, or you saw the counter count.

It is a DNS issue, but no it has nothing to do with domain expiry:
    Domain Name: CRYPTICSTUDIOS.COM

I am having trouble thinking of any MMO I ever played that ran smoothly all the time... All have had issues. All will continue to have issues. Hardware fails... Software fails... And unfortunately there are evil people out there doing their best to make sure these things fail just because they can. If I had to vote... I would say Ultima Online was the smoothest running I ever played... But it was pretty basic to what some MMOs put out now in the way of gameplay, network, and graphic demands. So good luck everyone, this will pass as all things do and will probably happen again in the future.

All MMO's have issues. Obvious statement is obvious. That said, I have played a lot of MMOs over the last decade, and Cryptic's do seem to have...alot. But, I enjoy them anyway, so oh well.
