About a couple months ago I was getting bad lag and sever disconnects. For two months I haven't had any more problems.
What I did was, I changed my DNS numbers to use Google's instead of using my ISP's DNS. There is a guide to help you know how to change this and try it out to see if it works out for you. I used the IP4 version.

I also use a router and forced my router to use Google's DNS. You will need to change it in your router (if you use one). If you have a third DNS line on your router, leave it blank.
I hope this helps some of you. I can't guarantee it will work as everyone has different settings and equipment, but it doesn't hurt to try.
