I have been flying a Fleet Excelsior for some time, and to be honest I didn't like the look of the new Tier 6 version. I picked it up anyways, and when I played with the looks it somehow wound up being brilliant. Your mileage may vary, of course.

Not bad. Not bad at all.
That's a nice ride there, OP.
The blessing of Sulu is upon it.
In actual 3D, it's a novel post-TNG re-styling of the Excelsior's elements. Except for the nacelles: they have more to do with the refit Connie, of which works in it's favour, more than what might have come about from a simple restyling of the Excel's nacelles.
I can't get myself to accept the resolute saucer, which is a shame, as to be honest my design does look a bit like a Connie refit on steriods. My issue with the resolute saucer is that it seems too small! especially when viewed from behind, the taper away looks to small to me!
Having said that, I did see someone in orbit of kobali prime last night that made me reconsider, as the pattern broke up the lines a bit, so I'll be space barbie tonight to see if I can manage it.
Very nice ships.
Same here! Resolve...weakening....must..not ...open..wallet.........
Seriously these "kit bashes" look awesome!
Well... like I told all the haters when the Resolute was first revealed. "Don't like the new look? Kitbash it."
Yet they all ranted and raved about how ugly it was without thinking about that one detail, and one person even attacked it saying it was a fail Command Cruiser when it wasn't designed to be one in the first place.
This thread proves that the Resolute can be made to look pretty good via kitbashing.
I just don't understand why people assumed that because it was basically the Excelsior that it would have Pilot abilities just because one ship was commanded by Sulu, who was the helmsman on the Enterprise. Pilot fit escorts better, and we never saw the Excelsior doing a barrel roll in ST 3 or 6...
Sorry... kinda went off in left field there for a moment. Carry on. *sweatdrop*
Then that ship permanently takes a ship slot from me since I can't dismiss and re-claim fleet ships. I have decided that I only by T6 ships if they're fleet level out of the box. As much as I love the look of the Resolute and the power of the Arbiter, I just don't want to deal with it. I might however, pick up a Pilot Escort since I can skip that entire system like I can with my Command Ships.
I know, which is exactly what I don't want. I'm aware that they have fleet versions, that's not what I was saying.
I have decided I'm only buying ships that are fleet level directly from the C-Store (like the Command and Pilot ships) and not ships that come with 10 consoles and have to be 'upgraded' to fleet.
The Arbiter and the Resolute are available in fleet, but they don't come that way from the C-Store which takes them off my list. If I buy a Presidio, Geneva, Concorde, Icarus, Ajax, or Mercury I don't need to buy anything else, I just claim it and enjoy it. If I need slots, I dismiss it and re-claim it later. I don't have to buy the ship, level it, get a fleet module, buy a 2nd ship and level that just to get the 'fleet level experience.'
I have done it with a couple ships, I have a Fleet Eclipse and a Fleet Phantom. I hardly ever fly the Phantom, but I can't dismiss it or I'm out 500 Zen.
