launcher times out everytime

I haven't logged in for a few months. game always worked. recently upgraded to w10 pro without any apparent issues. went to run game today and the launcher just times out. any ideas? firewall is off...just get a message that says" trying to update launcher" please be patient. Tried 5 times"

then it states "unable to connect to patch server" check internet...blah blah...contact support....

    nevermind. new Comcast modem with firewall set to high blocked traffic...
