So it seems it's an attempt to get people back in game. Apparently people who actually play the game get nothing, while people who don't get a free $30 ship, ten spec points and a 'thank you for your support message'. Well, whatever I guess, nothing to be done about it.
    Ummmm.... This week alone...

2 FREE Spec. Points per character

2 FREE Ship slots for a toon

    FREE
    Account-wide Section-31 Outfit.

    Seems fair to me.

Not really...could care less about the ship but 10 Spec points...I WANT that.

Ehh me...I want the free ship...could earn 10 spec points faster than it would to convert all that dilithium into 3k of zen :P

Conversely, people who ARE here during special events get things that people who AREN'T here, cant. Example: the Summer event ship, and the free items this week.

I was logging in during the special event, and didn't get the special event ship because I didn't care to grind for it since I hate the associated mini-games and don't appreciate non-faction ships. This guy... didn't have to play any mind-numbing mini-games everyday for a month or so and got a free T6 faction ship despite that.

And while they did just hand out some free items this week, this guy who got the ship isn't exactly disqualified from getting them, and if he got the email two days ago probably got them all in addition to the ship and spec points. He's apparently going to get at least the one for today. So at most he's missed out on one $5 outfit and two spec points in exchange for a $30 ship and ten spec points. Seems like a good deal.

I'm checking it out with the team who made/sent the email.
Why is it only limited people get theses emails? None of my friends have ever had any emails. I too have never had any emails from accounts I stopped using. These promotions do as much harm as they do good as they make players bad.

Contact support, try asking them to do a roll-back if it's even possible. Sounds really bad, nevermind your losing whatever strange giveaway this is.

Also, I'm guilty of causing a player to partly return to STO and therefore disqualify her from a 1+ year absence for these great prizes, all so that I could give her some beach wear during Risa.

If that's not bad enough, another friend never checked back since 1.5 years, but he's received nothing in his email although he's not 100% sure of the email he used.

Trendy not being informed of this? No official announcement? This is too strange.

I'd trade away all free event ships I earned (Nandi, Sarr, 2 T5U breen ships, T2 giveaway ships, even the nice Samsar) for an Andromeda without a second thought.

I remember now the last time one of those "Come Back" emails went out. It was at about the same time as Delta Rising coming out in late October 2014. I remember now because my friend that was always playing got the "Come Back" email that had a bunch of stuff to include Upgrade Tokens.

Please remember while mentioning the wording as unlucky that apparently this was sent out to LTS and possibly vets who already did spend a lot of money and thus supported the game. It did not get sent to Johnny who tried it for a week or so and then left. It even may be, though I doubt it, that there is also a whale filter included, meaning players who spent even more than "just the 300 dollars" and/or maybe a "time played before stopping" filter.

Plus it's not 10 spec points, it's a boost to level 60 for the highest leveled toon (although that of course includes spec points). Which is the beginning of the spec point hunt but as has been said players active since DR (which is very likely the cutoff point) will still be way ahead. And have three T6 ships from the events. So no, you wouldn't have been better off not playing.

And yes, it's common practice by marketing departments. More often than not companies like insurances, ISPs and similar have special offers for new customers which are better than their loyal ones are getting. I do not like that any more than you, but let's not put things out of proportion here.

For the record, the Cryptic dev team probably had nothing to do with this.

Exactly, there is probably a marketing team that's charged with getting people back in the game. They probably have nothing to do with the game outside of marketing.
    Insert witty signature line here.

Can you warn me the next time you're planning something like that? I might leave the game for some time too if it is rewarded with a shiny new T6 ship. That's a heck of an incentive :D

Well, for accuracy's sake, it is 10 spec points if they played or play the Delta Rising Missions which is where the 50-60 spec points come from. I have an alt who isn't into those missions and doesn't have any spec points.

I think it's a fine idea. It'd be nice if there was a better way to catch-up for people who play daily/weekly without getting spec points progress but a small victory/enticement for people who have left isn't a loss for people who stayed.

I might feel a bit differently if I had a strong desire to fly the Guardian Cruiser. But that would be sour grapes on my part. Good for anyone who takes advantage of it.

If we assume these emails went out to players who haven't played since before Delta Rising, which seems reasonable, then these players have had absolutely no tier 6 ships, including 3 free special event ships, and have missed any free spec points from the last few Featured Episodes, which is probably around 10 points. And that's on top of simply not playing and therefore not leveling any. This seems like a reasonable "catch-up" package.

The offer is legitimate. Just redeemed the code on ARC. As to getting people back in the game, I dunno. I've not been away from the game for any significant length of time. I log in at least once a day and spend at least an hour ingame when I do so. Other than this, I most likely fit the 'casual' category.

Ok, now this is interesting: you say you have not been away for any significant length of time, yet you still got this promotion. Can you estimate how long you have actually been a way?

I have been away from Start Trek Online for nearly 22 of the last 24 hours, lol. I am what some MMOs refer to as a Daily Player.

Apparently, the code is bogus or someone rescinded my ability to use it. Just logged in to give my Delta Reject a shiny new ship and guess what was not there?

Yup, you guessed it. Ship was not showing as available in either my Ship Selector or for purchase from the Ship Requisition Vendor.

I may not have attempted to redeem the code correctly. I went to the place the email linked to and it seemed legit. But no ship available ingame. I am going to attempt to redeem the code a second time using the regular ARC code redemption process. Will post results here ASAP. Back in a minute or three.

ADDENDUM: Response to standard ARC code redemption was "Incorrect Code". Response to second attempt at using the link in the email was "Please submit a vaild code".

So I am now assuming this is some kind of scam or phishing trick. Not concerned so much about not getting the ship as I am about the fact I may have now compromised my account security. Which is distressing.

I suggest any others who have recieved such an email hold off on attempting to claim the item. I am also not going to bother sending anything to pwe/cryptic's Customer Service about this. Not unless I want my great great grand children to claim the ship in time for Season 12.5, lol.

Ah well, 'Tis what I've come to expect from pwe/cryptic. Long on promise, badly short of the mark on delivery. At least I am not disappointed. Imagine how I'd feel if I had the unmitigated gall to expect pwe/cryptic to do the right thing. :P

Who cares?! I went to claim my 2 extra ship slots today; but, lo and behold, I was at ship max (as reported many times). I don't need a free ship: I need a ship slot cap increase.

They will soon enough. They keep bringing out new ships, and at some point people will start hitting their ship limit. Maybe not today, yet, but it's an inevitability. Just because it hasn't happened to ppl yet, doesn't mean they shouldn't look ahead a bit, and start to worry.

So basicly lets do the math if I would have quit your game... I would get a free ship but because I've endured the lag, the drama and the slow developers response time. not to mention the whole time you was blaiming the lag on our end till the very end then you finally said Oh TRIBBLE it is us. This is utter BS you guys know it where's my T6 Free ship and spec points for all the hours of going on tribble testing out the bugs reporting them you guys saying WORKING AS INTENDED. Not to mention the whole time I spent money in a sub par gaming experience hoping it would fund the game so development would increase...Cryptic PWE you might have gotten some free players back but from now on no more money from me.
