Exploration, new life and new civilizations. The anticipation is high, the players are ready

Just don't post a thread about it because it will be Closed. So cool your jets and get out there and grind.

I was excited until I read the info about it posted on Startrek.com.

The new Admiralty system is nothing more than a new doff system. We don't get to actually use our mothballed ships on missions with our main.

Also we get another reputation to grind it seems.

Take the current doff system, replace the doffs with starships? Sounds like a reason to dump "Starship Packs" in lockboxes.

    New Rep... :/ Blue Lazors?

S11: so.. another lockbox ... Herald?

Yup. I'm ready to explore the Tholian's motivations.

Not as excited as Cryptic wants me to be. But hey, new content! Yay...

Interested in some kind of exploration being reintroduced. Looking forward to being done with the Iconians (they seem more suited to WoW). I dread ship-DOffs, since its almost certainly going to be designed to cost the player base a fortune in new ships to take full advantage of it.

So I'm... interested. Optimistic. Probably wouldn't go so far as to say excited.

Season 11 -- the glorious reuse of mostly existing game assets .

    Doff system ? Check .
    Tholians ? Check .
    Mirror universe ? Check .

    But now in a same-but-different order !
And I wondered why we didn't have a Mirror Invasion in quite a while .
At least I have my answer .

After some careful consideration, I'm ready to put the Iconian war behind me. As underwhelming as it has been, what I lose in the opportunity for them to make it better, including Herald Red Alerts, would be made up for in getting the most boring war in Star Trek history to be over and done with.

Not really, I'm still waiting for the Iconian war to feel like an actual threat...

Can't be excited here. This is the STO Forums. There's no joy or happiness here.

The admiralty system sounds kind of bland. I don't particularly enjoy the current doffing so I doubt I'll enjoy doffing with ships. I am however cautiously optimistic about the possibility of exploration...

I am...interested, but I am not getting my hopes up too high. However, since this might be the first project to release fully under Mr. Ricossa's oversight (I say that based on indications that the Cryptic development cycle may be six months), I am watching to see if there is any change between it and prior seasons, and if so, what kinds of changes.

I don't care about any of it as long as DS9 gets a revamp to full ESD quality and then some.

Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by this. Was this just humorous sarcasm? There was a link on Cryptic's page to discuss in the forums. I figured that means we could talk about it.

Well, I guess I was wrong. Can only post in "official" season 11 thread. Ummmm. Wow.

This. If players want to keep playing and overlook the poor writing, rushed seasons and general mismanagement of the game, this really is the only way to look at it. I'd rather pretend the war was a Q-induced delusion.

i really want season 11 to be better than 9 & 10, but the change in emphasis towards selling broken ships with laggy abilities has been to the detriment of how playable the game is.
i will probably get squashed for not being a fan of cryptic, but i'm fan of star trek. there's a difference but that's not because of me :)

im half excited, im excited to have something new to do, however, cryptic suddenly (after 5 years) deciding to finally do something with exploration (which is the whole meat and potatoes of star trek) is a day late and a dollar short for me.. not to mention they have royally screwed up everything i have anticipated in the game since day one.

building on that, its probably just gonna be another dps race with lots of stuff to buy as per the usual.. it would be nice if they balanced their development time from things to be sold as a priority, to things to support what is being sold to add value to what is being sold.. there has to be a balance, which does not exist in any shape or form in this game.

there is still alot we do not know about it, but im gonna say with all the dev time they have been, and are putting into this iconian war story line, that season 11 is more than likely gonna be pretty light, with the usual half done content being released.

Excited to finally finish the war? Heck, Cryptic just dropped the spoiler bomb on their S11 intro, on how the war is over finally!!!

    No, I'm not.

No unfoundedly heightened expectations and delusions about upcoming content and plot = no disenchantment afterwards. Even a possibility for few pleasant surprises.

And what I DO expect is a lot of cries of disappointment both here and on Reddit from those who imagined the future season to be what it will never be and expressed their hype in the comments, when they get to know the harsh truth. :D I'm already planning to order some popcorn for this date.

    Is it online yet?
For those of us too poor to actually go to Vegas?

Never Mind, I found the Priority One vid on YouTube.

Wow, such a big room for so few people.
That Female Captain in the vid, kinda-sorta looks like Janeway.
Could They have actually possibly managed to get Katherine Mulgrew to do some voiceover work??
Oooo.. Sela is becoming a 'good guy' in-game.

I'm always excited to see that STO is bringing in enough money to justify updates - considering I haven't had cause to spend a penny in... more than a year?

Overall, I'm optimistic but I am trying to be realistic too. It is just far too early to assume anything on the exploration front beyond a linear and finite experience, wrapped up in a minor mirror universe incursion mission arc and coupled with a ship doff system that fails to deliver on actually creating player captain content (assignments that result in real missions for the player to experience).

I hope that Cryptic have found a way to tackle repeatable and engaging exploration, a Genesis system 2.0 if you will, but I highly doubt it. It seems a lot of their technical expertise is currently being spent optimizing the legacy and detrimental code affecting server operations.

    It's not Iconian war.

    So YES!

"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."

I am trying to ignore how they will 'reset' to end the war.

Kind of hoping they don't choose the lame "let's use a time ship to fix it" way out....

From the trailer: The war is dead, long live the war! (war ended, we can now once again be explorers...and at the end, another war seems to have broken out... and is heavily implied in the text). I guess the exploration of war is an art to live for.

Well baby steps...if they were to add something like that I don't think it would fit in a time just after a huge major war that cost many lives to have tons of ships flying around with each other.

I also think something big like that would be the feature of a new expansion rather than a new season.

Especially since it sounds like they're adding a actual exploration system...sorry they can't add a dozen different new systems to the game on one update...

Might as well close the book on this Iconian Bore(dom). Much of us spent half the war on summer vacation on Risa than fighting off Heralds anyway. The whole war in not just timing, but execution as well, was just completely wrong.

An emphasis on exploration would be a most welcome change. My first toon as well as main is a Klingon because from first impression to now, it has been a real shoot'em'up game. This is enjoyable, but sometimes I ponder why there is so little exploration involved. Maybe soon I can see the words "These are the voyages of the U.S.S. Starship" and not find them misplaced.
