If they reset the war they'd have to reset the iconian rep which we know they won't do. and it's already been said theres gonna be themes of "rebuilding", why rebuild if there was no war to break stuff?
New Dawn will rise out of the grim wartime tale to introduce an all-new story focused on rebuilding and hope. Discover a previously unknown civilization and uncover the mystery of a strange traveler from another time.
"He shall be my finest warrior, this generic man who was forced upon me.
Like a badass I shall make him look, and in the furnace of war I shall forge him.
he shall be of iron will and steely sinew.
In great armour I shall clad him and with the mightiest weapons he shall be armed.
He will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight him.
He shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best him in battle.
He is my answer to cryptic logic, he is the Defender of my Romulan Crew.
He is Tovan Khev... and he shall know no fear."
I for one am very excited. A new battlezone, exploration, more DS9 content, a new direction going forwards, a new reputation to work on and a new story to go with it. I've enjoyed the Iconian War content so far, so I'm ignoring the negative Nancy's and looking forward to what they have to offer for season 11.
While I think that S11 has some promise, I'm actually disappointed to hear it's coming so soon.
We have so many things that need to be fixed, and the dev team is adding more content when the game we have right now can't handle all the current content. There are still lag/disconnect issues, we have powers that don't work right, we have consoles that the devs issue flat nerfs on because they don't have the time to fix them correctly. With all that, it seems a shame to me that time is being spent on a new season when so much in game right now needs to be fixed.
I like the S11 idea, I just would liked to have seen it 1-2 more months down the road. They really need to stop releasing content and focus on fixing things for a while. Quality over Quantity.
I think I'm in the minority, but I did not find the old exploration missions to be worth anything. And I did think Cryptic was completely right about how it looked compared to the game, how little it's added value was, and was right to remove it. I am not sure how it will return, but I hope it will be either upgraded or substantially different than before. What I'd almost like to see though I highly doubt it would happen, would be the "canonization" of the best exploration-themed Foundry missions and some addressing of the rewards for those missions so you don't get screwed for light or no combat.
But I am not getting my hopes up that it will be that great. Not without a lot more information AND proof that there will be no outright false advertising as there was with the STF's before DR dropped. Though based on his track record, avoiding outright lying seems to be something Mr. Ricossa takes more seriously than his predecessor, so I am at least a bit hopeful that whether we like it or hate it, what is advertised is what will be delivered. It's not enough to fix all of my broken trust but it is a small something.

I was a bit more interested in a new battlezone, when I thought it would be Herald related. I was hoping it would be a challenging realm where you had to fight past ramming raiders, disable spam, and solar gates until you reach and beat the biggest nightmare they can imagine. If the New Dawn is tied into it, it means it has none to do with the Iconians or Heralds, and may in fact be a cure for my insomnia.
Exploration, new life and new civilizations. The anticipation is high, the players are ready
The only thing I'm "excited" about is more story content. The exploration will more than likely be boring. It's not something that can be implemented with enough variety to be compelling in the long term. Don't know why people don't get that and keep whining for "exploration".
Intrigued, yeah. Not excited though. Each of the new seasons (since LoR) has been hyped up so much, and ultimately resulted (for me) in disappointment. If Season #11 is going to take the game in a new, different and exciting direction, then hey, I can't complain too much about that. Chance is good. However, I fear that it'll be more of the same (again), and that just doesn't appeal anymore. That ship has sailed, hit the iceberg and sunk!
STO needs something completely new to keep me interested. I am not convinced that Cryptic are truly capable of that. I hope that I am proved wrong, but I've had this line of thought before, and the result was as expected. I'll wait and see what new toys they provide us with, and where the game and content go, but yeah, not holding out too much hope.
Oh, and if that new teaser/trailer was suppose to inspire, it failed. That had to of been compiled in less than two minutes flat, and the tackiness of it showed.
I'm looking forward to the end of the phoney Iconian War, is that the same as looking forward to season 11?
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
I have to admit that the one and only episode from Season 10 is getting really old and boring. I hope they will add more than one episode for Season 11.

The only bright spot I see so far is that I get to shoot more Tholians. I enjoy spider hunts.
