Delta Alliance Doffs

pwlaughingtrendypwlaughingtrendy Member Posts: 2,966 Arc User
With the Iconians waging war on all fronts, the Delta Alliance has been hard at work negotiating with the various races of the Delta Quadrant. These negotiations pay off in the form of the Delta Alliance Duty Officer Pack. The duty officer pack brings Delta Quadrant species encountered during the events of Delta Rising.

Are there any RnD specialists in this pack?

Xindi-Aquatic DOffs cost way too much on Exchange (over 150 mil) because they are the only purple RnD DOffs in game.

Yeah, in addition to needing R&D doffs, this just isn't very compelling. The only interesting trait is Attack Pattern Delta Prime but I'm sure it will be put on the Exchange for 500M EC of course. :p

The other interesting thing is that no ship is being offered as the grand prize. I think they're testing whether people will buy as many of these gambling packs when they're offering power instead of a ship, given that they're just about tapped out of canon ships aside from the inevitable (dreaded) Borg Lock Box.
Delta Rising is the best expansion ever and the players love it! No, seriously! ...Why are you laughing so hard? :(

    Didn't notice that. Thank you.

I really hope the devs have thought about the Projectile Weapons Officer and given it a much higher proc chance then the energy weapon officer version. It’s about Projectiles users didn’t get left out again.

yeah the ability for the fighters looks awesome, but why do we need a new buff for FAW? :(

So all Delta Alliance species are there, but not the Cooperative? Maybe "first-world problems" for some people, but I'm really sad because of that. :(

A buff to FAW and buff to CrtD, and all ya gotta do is buy it? Thank goodness, those abilities were really falling behind.

    *sighs* More **** power creep.

More creep...I'd act surprised but its not really - I thought kemocite was bad but this new box takes the cake, breaks it and uses the cake chunks as filling for an even more massive biscuit!

Looks like we are getting Kazon Doffs. It will be nice to have some prime candidates for Execute for Incompetence.

This isn't a Lockbox. No DOFF pack ever offers a ship unless they're running a special promotion. It is interesting that they're throwing in Starship Traits, though. "Grand prize" suggests that they'll be rare drops and not common enough to try for.

In other words, if you're not in need of DOFF's -- let alone Delta DOFF's -- you have no good reason to buy this pack except to harvest DOFFs to sell on the exchange. I might buy a couple of packs just because they're Delta races, but I have no desire to fill my rosters with them.

I wish they weren't retiring the Romulan Survivor pack, though. I have some alts that I might've wanted to buy packs for since there are no other Romulan-specific packs. Not going to break the bank to do it now, though.

The DOFFs themselves I worry that they could be overpowering given everyone is using Critx3 / 4 weapons. To me, it's throwing things further out of balance.

And personally, I don't understand why you call it "Attack Delta Prime". Why not call it Attack Pattern Delta Two or Three like they do in Star Trek?

There are also purple Kobali R&D doffs which are way cheaper than the Xindi ones.

This is good. I can add a few to my roster. Usually I go after the lesser ones (White or Green) since the others are usually out of my price range.

They are not the only purple R&D doffs. There are also Kobali doffs that have R&D specialties. They came from the Vaadwaur lock box. http://sto.gamepedia.com/Kobali_Engineering_Corps_Veterans

With the Romulan Survivor pack going bye-bye, does this mean we cannot get the Sulliban Cell Ship anymore?
  • kozar2kozar2 Member Posts: 602 Arc User
It would make significantly more sense and use for Attack Pattern Delta Prime to work with Beam Overload not FAW. The big knock build wise, is that loads of smaller fighters are a pain with it. It's not the DPS king build but with the right traits can be loads of fun. APDP basically creates a second FAW to go with your first FAW.

This is nonsense, friend. Both the Romulan Survivor and Reinforcements Duty Officer Packs (non-mini) can drop ships outside of special promotions.

If the Romulan Survivor DOff Pack is going to be retired, could we get one last chance to purchase it before it's gone? It's not in the C-store atm, unless I've missed it somewhere. I also think it would have sold more if it were not offered only occasionally (in fact, I'm certain it would have, because I have looked for it several times wanting to buy several, when it was not available).

Somehow I missed that. Thanks for the info.

Eh... Those traits look fantabulous and I would love to get my hands on that Astrometrics Scientist! But then, these will probably be pipe dreams as I never get anything useful to the character I open any box on... not so bad with the Lock Boxes, as I can transfer them to other characters (which means I normally get something redundant to all my toons) but as soon as it's a BoPU to Character item, it'll be fantastic to every character BUT the one that receives it... Lady Luck loves to wind me up like that.

Granted, if you count the Tuffli/Suliban freighters. Which are pretty much discontinued or obsolete now, so I don't. But, you're right. Wasn't considering those.

(Off-topic, would love it if they offered a T6 Q-Ship with service terminals to replace the Tuffli. I like the Nandi okay for my Ferengi, but would rather have something less odd-looking for other characters.)

Okay, one pack replaced by another. The Romulans are no longer classified as refugees en masse, which is good. However, there are two things of which I should touch on. For one, there needs to be some factionally based "trade ship" of some sort, unless the Iconian War has reached such a desperate point, that all capital not directed towards making guns and starships, has gone out the window. The other thing is what would replace the Survivor pack. The thing that I am thinking of, are Romulan and Reman Colonial DOffs. This makes sense, to me at least, as the RR would have taken in all of the refugees from the Murder, and it's aftermath, that it would begin to expand it's colonies out to former Imperial territory not disputed with the UFP or the Klingon Empire. Just saying.

I'd support an RR Colonial DOFF pack, or something like it.

Actually its says the ship traits are tradable, you can even put them on the exchange so you should be able to trade them between Characters.

Why do you believe the Cell and Tuffi are obsolete? Join the NoPservice channel and watch the number of requests for invites to cells and Tuffis. They have their uses. The personal officer on the Cell is one of the BEST additions to the game.
