constant crash to desktop - guess its a UI memory leak

im now constantly getting crash to desktop. mostly when some Doff missions end.

its so "timed" its supposedly doffing. all 15/30/60minutes i get a crash. when i relog, a doff mission is ready. so i suspect the doff notice is causing a crash in the UI.

please fix it its annoying as hell.

You know I was thinking the same thing....though not a UI memory leak but some error with the announcement system also possible the chat system.

I also get crashes...but they are way too random, sometimes I get a crash even trying to log in and start up the game...thus the reason I think its not just the announcement system but also something to do with chat system possibly overloading.

I keep thinking this because in a differing cryptic game a couple of years ago called city of heroes...it suffered form the same symptoms...which it turned out was the chat channel system doing some form of overload due to at the time super groups and announcements.

The development team there fixed the issue...and later posted about the problem.

oh well....not sure if cryptic had the game back then or NC soft had already taken over....in which case not sure if perfect world would get much information from NC soft as its like pulling teeth to get NC soft to give up any information...they are super greedy....so it will cost to get the information from them.

I often crash when changing maps, especially when joining STFs. Other crashes are more random.

Lately I am crashing on Risa when about halfway through the dance party. Crashes right to the desktop. Doff missions and que'd missions are ok. I am constantly forcing a file check. It started after the last server update on 7/9/15.

ok I think I might have found a fix.....well for NVidia owners

try opening your NVidia control panel and select the PhysX option.
For me its under the menu called Surround, PhysX

anywise on that screen you will see a pull down tab for the PhysX...change that to CPU

That seams to have eliminated the crashing for me for now.....<keeps paws crossed>

I am thinking Nvidia might have messed up and selecting CPU is actually making it use the GPU.....as my CPU is actually doing less since I altered that setting.

the problem indeed was my harddrive producing to many I/O errors ... switched to ssd, game is fine and stable since that.
