Direct X 11 issue ARC and STO fatal error crash

After a previous update ARC and the STO launcher will not load the game.
Direct X 11 Fatal Error. Only way to get the game to play is to copy and paste the shortcut from my STO Folder.

I went in and changed the display from auto to direct x 11 to try and fix the issue total game crash. Had to reinstall the game.

After reinstall the game has the same issue. I did a copy and paste and the game is running for now.

I am using an AVGA GTX GeForce 960 2 Gig video card on an AMD system.
And I have sent in a bug report when the issue happened.

Is anyone else having this issue?

Just a note: This is the Foundry Bug subforum. You'll want to post this issue here.

3 days since launch 3 days with patches and still the same problem yet suddenly it disappears for a few hours every night at about 2am UK time or peak US time obviously CRAPTIC don't give a **** about non US player base and will only offer a service at peak US times seriously go **** yourself cryptic get it fixed then fire all of your development staff as their incompetent and then compensate all the player base about 5000 zen each is fair as it will put enough of a hit on your company that you will finally learn how to do anything and learn to actually code either provide a game that works or disband your company:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad

This is like, the 80th thread on the matter.....but anyway

Since the season 10 prepatch, the Video is defaulting to "Direct 3D 11" which most computers (unless they are specced for it,) cannot handle, or which is partially missing in the STO files.

    To fix:

Load the game in Safe Mode, go to Options>Display>Video Card.

Instead of Auto, select Direct 3D 9. Save the change, and exit the game.

Reload and hey ho, I've been playing for hours without an issue. I've even played through the content that was causing this gem to crash, without issue. I'm back to my previous high graphics settings and all appears to be working without a hitch.

    Hope this helps

    fatal error....

I posted in a few places...change your PhysX option to CPU in the NVidia control panel and see if that fixes the issue and increases the performance in this game and the rest of them as well

Power without Perception is Spiritually useless and therefore of no true value.

Erm.. computers are more than capable handling DX11 lol, and DX12 and DX13, etc xD. It is not the computer, it is the game engine, that is not fully compatible with the DX11 libraries, and it struggles a lot in some systems. If you cant switch to DX9, and run the game in DX9 im afraid you are screwed...

That is useless. The game overrides any setup you put in the nvidia control panel, unfortunately. I also "played" with physics time ago, with no avail. Also, the problem is, using DX9 will not handle physics correctly because DX9 libraries dont have full physics support, and using DX11 will not handle it either because cryptic never built a proper DX11 compatible game engine.

Yeah....I am not referring to the program tweek options

I am referring to the PhysX processor option which is user controlled...unless you keep it in its normal state of automatic which is probably causing issues...because it looks like Nvidia messed up a couple things....like GPU selection using the processor and the CPU selection using the graphic card.

    Also....on this note....for everyone reading
Make sure your system files are ok.

You can do that by opening a command prompt in administrator mode....and then typing: sfc /scannow
that will have windows run a system file and registry integrity check and fix itself...no you don't need the system disk.

I know what you talking about, and i tell you, it doesnt matter what option you put in the nvidia control panel "cpu / gpu / auto" for some reason the game ends using just one option (cant remember now what option if cpu or gpu). This was discussed long time ago in the graphical bugs section.
