I know the term "Destroyer" and "Escort" are used often to mean the same thing, but I think STO might be treating them as different ship class altogether so lets not make assumptions about whether they can or can not equip dual cannons.
Plus Destroyers do seem to have a new mechanic
Starship Ability Package (Destroyer) :
- Precise Weapon Systems
- Enhanced Weapon Banks
- Devastating Weaponry
- Enhanced Weapon Systems
I am interested how this works in game
Destroyers got their ship mastery package the same time Escorts got theirs. Also, all Destroyers have been able to equip heavy cannons up till now, so if the Nandi doesn't, it will set a new precedent - first tactical ship in general to be unable to equip dual cannons.
Any chance of confirming the 6 boff slots? It has 1 more ensign slot.
Looks like that's the 13th BOFF power that typically sets it apart from T5 ships. It just happens to be an extra Ensign/Bekk/Uhlan slot rather than a Lt slot or a LtCmdr/Centurion slot.
Trendy, I'm normally somewhat negative when it comes to giving my opinon on the communication that STO has with its players. Here latly I think you have done a wonderfull job. I enjoy reading your comments. It gives me a optamistic outlook on Dev/player interaction. I feel if something important needs to be told to the sto playerbase that you will be there to post all the info. I know its not much but TY. Keep up the good work.
Don't feed my ego. If you do, I'll start thinking I'm people too!
Anyone know if theres a chance that if you own the D'kora that you might be able to use that skin on the Nandi?
They're entirely different ship types. There is no precedent for that to happen. Even the Fed Intel ships using each other's nacelles would be a bad example, as they're all Intel ships.
well, i still like it: nice shape, nice boffs seats. just 1 thing the colors. a little bit too funky to my taste. this would be cool, if the 3 basic colors of each factions were available; after all this ship is "given" for helping us to fight the heralds.

OH YES! That brings up my other question. What will be the ship customization options? I don't mean to poo poo on the the devs but I'm not a fan of the color scheme.
Thank you for the correction.... but my point still stands... (as well as yours) The D'kora got the special amenities same as the Tuffli and the cell ship got the same amenities as the D'kora so there's no sound reason for the Nandi which is ferengi with the D'kora bridge should not also have the amenities. /case closed
to be fair though.. none of those ships were free.. and the nandi is
actually thinking of it those terms.. aside from the romulan doff mission on the cell ship (and the tw on the tuffli and cell, which is less of a big thing these days) if they give the full facilities of the D'Kora free on the Nandi.. they will be seriously depleting the desirability of the tuffli, cell and D'Kora.. all of which are part of the earning process for cryptic.. be interesting to see how they go with this
^QFT. People paid for the D'Kora/Tuffli/Cell. Those amenities should not be on a free ship, IMO.
I paid for a T6 ship. They should not be given away free.
Sounds kinda silly, doesn't it?
Good point.... But if the Event ship isn't equal to current ships than nobody will bother getting it which defeats the point, for them, of the event. This is a given and beside the point.
I paid for a T6 ship. They should not be given away free.

I paid for a T6 ship also. I feel ya. I think we've only had 2 free T6 ships now, though. The Breen sci carrier and this new one. The Breen is a different beast, however. I don't think we can compare that to many other ships.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see on the bridge/performance. The D'Kora isn't even on my main toon, so I'm not THAT ticked about the outcome, if it happens. Just thinking about those who have it on their mains.

You paid for a very unique version of your T6 ship. You maybe have a wicked Command ship, a sleek Pilot ship, or that new Constitution that's alllllllll the rage*. However I can positively guarantee that those ships aren't the new Nandi. There are elements of all ships that allow overlap.
The same could be argued with Pilot seating and the fact that those who bought a pilot ship should be the only ones who have exclusive access to those and nobody else. Frankly, I believe there should be a little overlap with regards to ships like the Nandi. Not too much, because that completely would invalidate the previous iteration. But just enough to make it not simply a fluff ship that everyone laughs off. Frankly, for my fleet mates who haven't gotten a pilot ship, this'll be nice for them to play with.

*Warning there is no T6 Connie. Please, this is a joke. I can't believe I have to emphasize this. Gooby plz.

I agree... there is a lot that can be argued with the Nandi but there would be no point in doing so.

Actually thats the same Destroyer mastery package that the Breen Chell Grett has had since upgrades came out.
Good point.... But if the Event ship isn't equal to current ships than nobody will bother getting it which defeats the point, for them, of the event. This is a given and beside the point.
nah, people get the event ship because its there to get. not to mention there are many players that will be happy to have a free T6 ship for just logging into game. even if a player isn't interested in the ship itself, the trait is well worth the effort.
i'm all up for sensible discussion in reasoning and rationalising a fully functional D'Kora bridge on the Nandi, but you are really stretching for reasons now. while it may not be the best ship in game, it is still T6, has the new pilot seat, is the 1st ship in game to get a 6th seat, is capable of doing any current content, oh yeah and its free, is available to everyone, and every character on their account, for a 5min input, in game, each day.. 5mins!
now explain how that is something no one would bother with, if it didnt have the full D'Kora bridge? which by the way, has cost folks money.. some folks lots of money.. as did the cell and tuffli.
The Tuffli came first it had everything the Cell had minues the Tau Dewa doff mission. I know I was upset about it cause of that as well as a few others, BUT at least we Tuffli's had the last full custom interior on a prize ship.
As for order of Release it was Tuffli, D'kora, cell ship.
I thought the D'kora was released in April of 2012 and the Tuffli was released in June of 2012.

Honestly, the whining along the vein of, "But, but I PAID for my ship," is part of the reason I loathe seeing non-cosmetic stuff available for microtransactions.
Here's a fun fact though, each of the ships mentioned? There's a chance that some of the players flying them didn't pay a cent to PWE period, much less to obtain those ships.
Not only that but there's a good chance that some players who themselves haven't spent money on STO, for whatever reason, have actually generated more revenue(albeit indirectly) than many who have.
I could see the Dabo table, but not the rest. If everything else on the bridge is available, I would be (and many others that own the D'Kora), VERY... urinated-off.
I think it's more the case that they had the D'Kora bridge already in the game, and so didn't have to do any work to include it as the bridge of the Nandi. Removing things would require work, so that would mean no bridge (as proven by the fact that the Risian ships never got their bridge for this reason). So, count on it being exactly the same, with all the same features, both because it is easy for the devs to do it this way, and as the Nandi becoming established as the T6 D'kora (and only D'kora owners able to complete the console set).
As for those who don't like the ship 'flying backwards' or 'bad colors', the ship is designed by aliens...Ferengi in particular. No doubt, the Ferengi have long thought everyone else's ships were stupid for flying backwards and having such bad colors, and now they've been given a chance to show the rest of the galaxy how a -real- starship should be.

they may not have paid directly.. but the mechanics for getting those ships did cost someone zen. how the zen is purchased to buy keys matters not.. because all zen in game has cost real money at some point in the process.

Not to mention you chose to pay that money..... so since when should your choice affect me? You still get what you paid for... You only benefit because now you have both ships whereas others will have only the one. But I need not explain this.... Whining never accomplishes anything unless there is something obviously wrong. I know how you feel.... I'm still ticked that we even have T6 ships to begin with but all of this is par for the course with Cryptic/PWE. You can either live and let live or you can leave. The latter is foolish.

Where was that statement when they came out with T6 ships huh? You are just inciting futile and pointless argument.... I'm done.

sorry run that past me again.. its hard for them to turn off the features? they are just hooks on an object, or like doorways in the foundry. it just means copying the D'Kora bridge, allocating it a new number/name, disabling the hooks/doors, and adding it to the overall bridge map they have as a new entry point and closed room.
it may even be less complicated than ^ possibly just a simple [condition]

That claim is patently wrong.

what strangely proportioned... warp nacelle... a lot less baguette, and a lot more croissant.
on another note, am i the only person that actually likes this ship as is, out of the box, in its entirety?

You forgot the Kobali Samsar.
Ouch! Good call on that. That was a cluster-frak on the Delta Recruit event.
Good call.
