I know the term "Destroyer" and "Escort" are used often to mean the same thing, but I think STO might be treating them as different ship class altogether so lets not make assumptions about whether they can or can not equip dual cannons.

you got a commander tac, and a LT.. you can go beam and torps.. If the mounting of cannons was supposed to be there and got overlooked, then you have the option of a gun ships. Might even have the power system to handle an all gun ship..Turn mode it not terribly high and with only 2 engineering consoles.. unless your running fleet engineering consoles with turn for get about cannons, and don't get to carried away over torpedo's. If you cant get a target into arc for your special weapons, your better off not bothering with them. KDF's Bortasqu can carry duel cannons. You might be able to keep an Iconioan battle ship, dreadnaught, or a really slow moving planet in your forward arc long nuff to get a shot off with cannon on that ship.. but um... good luck with it!
Still, its base turn mode is better them a KDF Battlecruiser, but no where near as good as previous destroyer class ships. So if it can't mount dual cannons, I'm good with it.
Beams are way too boring for my tastes. Fly in a circle and mash the space bar. Wooo.
I used to fly escorts all the time, and don't see much difference to be honest. They either did nothing but figure eights and mashed the space bar or sit still and mash the space bar.
However in both cases there are other things to do while those elements of the ships are on near auto-pilot. Especially if you leave a torpedo or two on there for style with beam ships.

I don't understand some peoples beef with new ships. Now yes I do understand some frustration about these 'free' ships (because they are not really free, they are a payment/reward for running the special mission so many times) but still, you can't expect to like every ship Cryptic makes. I think it looks interesting.
And as for the weapons, sure I hope it can equip DHCs, but even if it can't, I still like it. Not so concerned about the bridge, I get and use a ship based on its performance, not its bridge. And this ship has some impressive stuff. The ability to use some Pilot Boff abilities, an extra Boff seat, 5 tactical console slots, bonuses to engines and weapons, 4 forward and 4 aft weapons, a special console and a special starship trait. This ship looks to be able to deal some massive weapons damage (even without DHCs) if it is equipped right.
My only real complaints are that it still takes so many days to earn it and that the Risian ships are no longer available for my new characters to get. I wish they would knock off 5 or 10 days of grinding and that they had warned us last year (or at least 6 months ago) about them removing the Risian ships or have them available for one more event.
But if I can, I am definitely getting this ship.

i know for sure that QziQza the Ferengi will go very 'loud shouty words.. shouty words making little sense.. shouty words making little sense and annoying the crew' if Nandi captains get full access to all the D'Kora bridge love. took forever to get that D'Kora, and its still a ship used daily, so i can understand where you are coming from.
i especially love the D'Kora for pugdof days, so if the Nandi gets the full love, it will probably come down to the bonus from having the 2pc set that will determine just how bruised QziQza's manfruits will feel, all my other captains will be happy as pigs in poo though.

As a D'kora owner, I will actually be quite happy if the Nandi gets the D'kora bridge with all the amenities included. Means (1) it'll be easier to get it on my alts, and (2) my friends can get it more easily
(I do see where you're coming from, though, seeing as how the bridge amenities are pretty much all the D'kora has going for it these days. Well, that, and the fact that the ship just looks cool.)

actually thinking of it those terms.. aside from the romulan doff mission on the cell ship (and the tw on the tuffli and cell, which is less of a big thing these days) if they give the full facilities of the D'Kora free on the Nandi.. they will be seriously depleting the desirability of the tuffli, cell and D'Kora.. all of which are part of the earning process for cryptic.. be interesting to see how they go with this

That's debatable since grinding is a price in itself but that's beside the point.
Edit: To include added info.... in a P2W or G2W game like STO... inconvenience (with the bridges) isn't the main source of income. Also, the desire for the tuffli, cell, and maybe even the D'kora being diminished is, again, debatable and beside the point.
Unconfirmed whether or not it has a brand-new bridge. I haven't heard anything about it having one.
That reminds me of a comment on a prior post. The guy was upset because everybody kept telling him the bridge on the aquatic carrier is on the inside of the ship.. Where is the bridge on the Nandi? :P

Trendy, I'm normally somewhat negative when it comes to giving my opinon on the communication that STO has with its players. Here latly I think you have done a wonderfull job. I enjoy reading your comments. It gives me a optamistic outlook on Dev/player interaction. I feel if something important needs to be told to the sto playerbase that you will be there to post all the info. I know its not much but TY. Keep up the good work.

Heh, when I first saw that Nandi silhouette image on Twitter, my very first thought was, "That looks like some kind of Ferengi warbird!"
