Has anyone noticed...
That all the Iconians are female?
All the Heralds are male?
Has anyone wished...
Rather then having us defeat all our foes and then having a cutscene say we lost- that the game actually made us lose and saved our backsides with cutscene instead?
Rather than be given weapons that justify our final victory over the Iconians, that we had to actually work at it in a way that directly discovers new technology builds such weapons?
That we actually had the choice to allow the war to impact our characters?
That the Iconians actually win
Ok, that last is my reaction to the forgone conclusion that victory will be handed to me on a platter together with the fact that this uber war has not affected me at all except to give me more loot.
And the fact that I sort like the Iconians better than what Cryptic has done with the core Star Trek races- like making my character cheer for a fat bragging Klingon. I rather liked Kirk in Arena method of dealing with a downed opponent better myself... at least have regret while watching someone be killed.

At first, I didn't think we had it within us to defeat the Iconian, but rumour has it there's only eight of them, and I'm pretty sure it's within our power to defeat eight Iconian. I figure if those eight are downed, then the Herald, Elachi and whoever else sided with them will fall back to isolation.
If there are more than eight Iconian, then yeah, we need help, and that would probably be best shown via a cut-scene; either assistance from other races (Tholian/Dominion) or assistance from the future.
It should be obvious that we eventually win anyway, Archer has seen the Enterprise-J; that wouldn't exist if we lost. Proof of the Enterprise-J is proof enough that we'll be victorious. The Iconian can't directly alter the timeline either, so I think it's safe to say that the timeline will play out okay, that and our Delta Recruits are visited by our future selves who have already beaten the Iconian, so...
its also entirely possible that the iconians are a Matriarchy.
which im fine with.
the other point could simply be that heralds are the devolved form of the current iconians and so because of that their voices are deeper or "different, the current Iconians current evolutionary state could of altered how they actually speak.
that said T'mara is reffered too as "she" so it could actually be a matriarchy which is interesting.
to be honest we dont really know much about it so.
I know in sector space it's outside, however at the end of "Uneasy Allies" I assumed we were sitting on the edge of the Iconian System.
Either way... Krenim fire lazor at Iconia.. wiping out the Iconians... stuff happens... Krenim Timeship destroyed... and boom... Iconians be back. << my guess on what will happen.
Oh also... T'ket will have her arm re-attached.
Actually our Delta's don't see their future selves from after the war. They see them from just before the war, about the point where they meet the Preservers for the first time after fighting off the Breen. And the Enterprise-J was from one possible timeline. But the proof is actually in Temporal Ambassador. The Wells class that helps the Enterprise-C escape was a Federation ship from at least the 29th Century.
O RLY ?
For Heralds the Iconians are freaking gods, for God's sake.
So Heralds are:
- religious zealots
- a warrior race (yet another warrior race, yeah)
- a technologically advanced species with superior tech
What do you think militaristic religious zealots would do to the insects who dared to attack and kill their freaking GODS ?
You think they will run away and cry in the corner like a little girl ? Hell - NO.
I tell you what they will do.
They will freaking show you what does the word G-E-N-O-C-I-D-E means !
Remember how Harbringer freaked out when you ONLY entered the Gateway room ?
And there will be no Iconian masters to hold them back. They will not need to subjugate the Alliance - they will be DESTROYING it.
Every single ship, every single starbase and research facility, colonies and outposts, evry single planet.
So they will not limit their use of force and superior technology like they do at the moment - as they are ordered not to destroy Federation, Klingon Empire, Romulan Republic, but to bend them to the Iconian will, to make everyone Iconians' servant.
But with the Iconians gone...
They will send not a mere tens of ships in Sol, Qonos and New Romulus systems. They will send THOUSANDS of ships and HUNDREDS of dreadnoughts with those super guns.
And these dreadnoughts will FRY the Alliance homeworlds - so that the oceans will burn, the planets' atmospheres themselves will burn and every single living being out there will roast alive.
They will shoot out of the sky all ships - no matter which: civilian, military...
They will blow to pieces starbases, shipyards, research outposts...
And then they will repeat it on lesser worlds.
There will be no mercy and no surrender. They will not stop - until nothing but dead desolate planets will be there.
That what they will do.
Or something of the kind
(And that's one of the major flaws with kill "few Iconians" and be done with that plot device).
Agreed, this War doesn't seem to have any impact in normal gameplay.
No sudden Attacks on ESD/First City/New Romulus, no Iconian fleets in Sector Space. There's just no feel of a incoming threat, everyting feels too normal.
Except for the sympathy to the Iconians, everything else i couldn't have said better.
I don't know... the followers of the Ori didn't go genocidal when the Ori were wiped out by the Tau'ri, and the last remaining Ori Adria was locked in battle with Ganos Lal for eternity.
Never particularly liked Stargate series - too many "deus ex machine" plot devices. And I always thought that it was really a dumb idea to make goa'uld primitive parasites. And that whole "Ancients/Lanteans/whatever they were called" affair, ugh... IMHO it perverts the idea of original movie.
But I'm deviating from the point
In my view, a more correct representation will be "Babylon 5".
Earth-Minbari war.
(Only there will be no Sinclair out there to save Earth and the human race ).

The Heralds are basically pond scum to the Iconians, yet we know it's the Iconians who supply their raw materials (for starships, etc) so no Iconians = a smaller problem with the Heralds. Without a leader, everything falls apart.

TRIBBLE, for all we know the Iconians we've seen are all male, and their females are larger and stronger (it's often true among Terrestrial reptiles and spiders). And one day the ladies are going to get angry and come after us, and then we're really screwed!
Because one of the Preservers called M'Tara his 'daughter'. :P

You never know too like for example there is this book that is based on this game in it basically it explains a past undine war and then it sort of leads you to what happens in the game per say. One of the things mentioned is that the undine had 5 different genders. So on top of all this one could wonder if the heralds and iconians are some other gender that is completely nothing like a male or female too(as in being neither). So maybe the remans are a huge threat to them being the abilities they have versus an unknown gendered species? lol
I would get excited even about developments in the game although its been said so many times with ships being obsolete after 6 months or less after purchase to the fact that its per grind per character per ship I just can't get much more involved than speculations in forums lol.
They already have thousands of military space vessels, there is already millions of them. (And for all we know there could even more of them in Andromeda Galaxy).
Basically all they need is to send a large enough chunk of the armada, which is in the Herald sphere, to the Alliance homeworlds.
It will be already enough to overwhelm any fleet Federation, Romulans or Klingons can assemble. Especially if all three homeworlds will be hit more or less simultaneously.
They don't even need functioning gateways - they could get there using warp just fine.
I could make a joke here about how that could be taken literally, but that would immature.

"They".
/Our PWE overlords demand this extension
Any kind of explanation would help, like, maybe there is a limit to how many ships can be deployed because they all need to be fueled or something over time. ANY explanation.
"They" is plural, and has been since about the sixteenth century.
It can be whatever you want it to be.
No, really. Language is dictated by its use, just as much as language dictates its use.
'They' is also singular, and commonly used as such.
Norway and Yeager dammit... I still want my Typhoon and Jupiter though.
JJ Trek The Kelvin Timeline is just Trek and it's fully canon... get over it. But I still prefer TAR.

Yeah...no. "They" is plural. The neutral pronoun is "it."
There is no possible explanation.
This whole arc has shown some of the worst plotting and writing I've seen in a game.
Even when the 'writers' for this try for a heroic sacrifice, they fail. If Kahless if died covering our retreat from the last FE, we'd all be singing his praises. As it is, many people are just shaking their heads at the stupidity of what went down.
Cryptic needs a new writing team.
If you're a Prescriptivist it isn't.
It can be whatever you want if you're a Descriptivist.
I think there was an explanation for this in the TOS episode, "Metamorphosis" in which the universal translator assigns a female voice to the Companion.
arcgames.com/en/forums/startrekonline/#/discussion/1203368/pve-content-a-list-of-gamewide-polishing-pass-suggestions
It was something like Male/Female is a universal concept and that translator detects and assigns the correct voice to make the translation.
A rather amazing device the translator. No hint was ever given as to how that thing works, pure black box FM.
Watching Kayless get vaped still makes me laugh.
