Flight deck ships

chalpenchalpen Member Posts: 2,207 Arc User
I am not a fan of flight deck ships.
Mostly because
1) not all ships with one hanger are called flight deck ships (command) and
2) fighters are not very useful since they die quickly and they are usually given a hanger bay sacrificing something else.

Unless something happens and that hanger goes all scimitary and can release a frigate, please don't make anymore.

That is all. Thank you.
Should I start posting again after all this time?

If you put wet clothes on a wire hanger it will rust. Your preference is faulty.

Your sense of entitlement for clean clothes is very obvious. Just because wire hangers are there to hang clothes does not mean they are obligated to be rust-free.

I disagree with your down right rejection of plastic hangers, they make great cheap tie fighters toys for the kids.

Keep in mind, real gentleman use wood hangers.

LOL really? Wow I guess all those different people requesting them enjoy losing fights because their fighters are ineffective? No seriously, using a carrier (that's what they are called BTW) is not something for everyone. So if they are not your thing, don't use em, just don't try to get the DEVs to stop making them as others of us do like them.

As for the names indicating they are carriers, no not all of them do that. That is why you need to read through the ship stats before you buy it. Yes the stats DO let you know if it has hanger bays or not.

Wire hangers are far more versatile. I have used them to repair engines, pick locks, repair steering systems and to perform abortions....

Jesus Christ this took a dark turn...

I like Flight Deck Carriers myself. The fighters can be useful for screening stuff on interceptor mode.

And I prefer plastic hangers at home.

But plastic hangers are the best for picking cat toys from under the couch, and that is by far the most important use.

I've been using the default runabouts that come with the Vesta for my Delta recruit, and they've been surprisingly durable.

And I prefer wood or steel hangers. Wire and plastic tend to sage and deform if you hang pants on them.

I actually like 'flight deck' ships, escort carriers, and Vestas.

The added hangar makes the ship a bit more versatile and/or deadly, regardless of the squishy nature of fighters/shuttles.

Also, I have this metal hanger with clips on it, holds 5 pairs of pants at once. Really like that one!:D

Please, explain to me how a ship like the Ar'kif, Armitage, Vesta, Bulwark, Jem'Hadar Escort Carrier, Scimitar, or any of the Command Battlecruisers are giving up anything to also have a single hangar.

Because asking someone to not make things purely because you don't like it is perfectly reasonable.

There are people who like Flight deck vessels, why should they be denied something solely because you don't like it?

Ar'kif could possibly of had a 5th fore slot maybe instead of a hangar?

Trolling or just massive entitlement? "Only me matters! ME ME ME! If I don't like it, no one does! ME ME ME!"

Y'know, if only ~20% of players play KDF you really should hope Cryptic ignores "only ME matters!" posts like this.

"I don't play KDF, you should take them out of the game." <-- not me (I have 3 KDF alts), some entitled person who thinks only what they like should exist.

With duck tape, WD-40, and wire hangers, one gets the ultimate fix anything trifecta.

Tugs. With carrier pods. And bombardment pallets. Plus, Fast patrol ship tenders, and PF's. And why not add an SSCS for races that had them? Think of all the junk Cryptic could sell just in the way of ships - because you know people would want color schemes, fleet variants, career variants, etc. to go with their new toys.

I don't think they should build anymore flight decks cruisers.
Since not all ships that have hangars are flight decks and all ships have hangars in canon, flight deck ships should be now called the awesome name of: ships.

    So say we all

All ships do have hangers, however none of the ships seen in canon were specialised towards the use of Auxiliary offensive craft, none of the ships in canon ever released shuttles during combat because they were not designed to use them in a tactical situation.

    Flight Deck cruisers however are.

Enterprise d, voyager and the defiant all launched crafts during combat and they where all called "ships".

In all seriousness this thread is more about the name flight deck cruiser over everything else.
The bulwark is a dread, scimitar is a flagship, their is are escort carrier. But they all have a single hangar that flight decks have.
Why not just remove the designation "flight deck" since it doesn't seem to have any bearing ?

That's because STO doesn't really do ships (or even Trek, really) the way they were meant to be.
