That seems harsh. The Iconians are just trying to conquer the Milky Way! Deploying Garak is just excessive.
I can imagine that: you arrange a "meeting" between M'Tara and Garak in a room, you wait about 4 minutes and then you see M'Tara coming out, floating and crying, completely broken, calling off the invasion and begging to join your crew in exchange of having no playable Cardassian faction ever.
Is it the kind of FE that gives daily lobi and access to special mission rewards like the cane and reman and breen boffs? Or the kind of FE that has none of the above, like the last few times?
Oh boy, can't wait to enjoy the lag and bugs that still plague this game to hell in this new story mission that's clearly more important than fixing this game!

As I'm sure Trendy will agree, seeing as she stated this already in another post on the forums, having the design team sit around while the the real troubleshooters would become VERY costly to Cryptic. And if anything, would lead to the game all but shutting down while new codes or whatever is needed to fix things is done...
And personally, I'd rather they keep Tacos out of the servers.. He might try to sprinkle some sparkles on it again....

You're bolian me over with these puns! I wasn't going to say anything but then I thought, "No, I horta tellarite now."
Whoa, Ba'ku up a second. I didn't Pegh this forum as the place to Bandi about those kinds of inter-species shenanigans. But I suppose if someone wants 'Tamarian alien, I'm not going to Klingon to outdated prejudices. Trendy might come down on me for causing an alter-Caitian in the forums.

Except the Vorta, Breen, Cardassians, and Founders also took part in the Dominion War.
Maybe it's just me, but when the only iconians in the game are in cutscenes, it kind of takes the wind out of these "Iconian War" sails.
We're still just fighting their underlings. Despite all the hype to the contrary.
And if Cryptic does understand the ramifications of what they are doing, we should not fight the Iconians. We should have cutscenes to see their awesome power. We can mow up the floor with Heralds (and Herald missions should be a bit more difficult), but we should not have direct contact with the Iconians. They are almost legendary beings, with technology behind our wildest comprehension. They are, Sauron equivalent of Star Trek, and the Fellowship never fought Sauron directly. They fought against his minions. So if we want the story to have some gravity, we should be defeated, and make sacrifice, without being able to kill an Iconian. Perhaps in one of last missions we can do something. And we should never ever be able to get their technology in lock boxes... that would destroy entire build up which is 5 years in the making...

they are , however ,not gods ...in fact the Voth scientist ( almost everyone overlooks that ) clearly states the dyson spheres were not build by the Iconians but by a servitor -species and that species were not the heralds ( meaning they relied on that servitor -species for the technical expertise to do so ) . In other words : there's a race somewhere which is even more powerful than the Iconians ( in terms of technical know-how , not necessarily meaning they have any military knowledge )

So they've enslaved a species that can build dyson spheres. That's not exactly arguing against their power, you know.

That's not even the half of it. The Iconians' dialogue in their cutscenes (the Harbinger referring to the New Romulus gateway as a "sacred space", and then M'Tan herself talking about ruling the galaxy as a "duty" - a duty to whom or what, exactly?) strongly suggests that even the Iconians themselves aren't the top of the bad guys' pecking order.

Its probably something similar to how the colonizing powers of centuries past often justified their actions as themselves being the superior/intelligent/enlightened race who had both the right and the responsibility to rule over the lesser savages. "I'm superior and I know whats best for you so do what I say or I'll kill you." Ego and vanity self-justified as benevolence, bringing their own greatness to those beneath them by telling them what to do. Whether Pax Romana, White Man's Burden, or the credentialist technocrats of today, people have been convincing themselves of their own duty to rule for all of recorded history, and there's no reason to believe they'd stop in the future.

Or the Preservers gave the Iconians said duty, and like Davros and the Daleks, they got a little out of control...
M'Tara's use of "can not" as opposed to "will not" is an interesting choice of words though. Maybe there's something deeper to it?
So, the featured episodes are nice and all, but those and a few pve missions don't really make me think there is a "war" going on. There is absolutely nothing going on at all that would make me think that. The NPC dialogues don't talk about it. There aren't any Iconian red alerts... Nothing whatsoever. The whole thing has been a serious let down and if it weren't for my fleet there would be nothing holding my interest in this game anymore.
We can't even put Iconian units in our Foundry missions. Some "war" this is. Seriously lame.

Firstly, please don't think this is an attack on you, your views, your history...etc.etc.
The way this game is designed, in my view, is so that you can make it your own version of Star Trek with the supplied assets.
In the game, nothing exists outside of your character's reality.
For example: There are not thousands of Admirals flying ships for Starfleet.
You are the only one.
Just like Kirk in Star Trek: The Motion Picture (link).
When an alien spacecraft of enormous power is spotted approaching Earth, Admiral Kirk resumes command of the Starship Enterprise in order to intercept, examine and hopefully stop the intruder.
STO is attempting to deliver the entire Trek universe to you, so that you can take whatever parts of it You like and make it your own.
You are SPECIAL.
Your story is unique from every other player.
In fact, there are no other players. Only occasionally you might have to call in support to take out a larger than normal threat.
Just like Picard taking over the battle against the Borg in the Battle of Sector 001 in Star Trek: First Contact (link).
You are the most bad TRIBBLE ship commander in all the Milky Way. Nothing stands in your way. Your ship always wins. All of your bridge officers never die.
Just like all of Star Trek. Live the Dream. That's what Star Trek Online is. The closest thing we have to a "holodeck" in our time.
I am unable to "Hail" Captain Kagran using any of my three characters (FED/KDF/ROM) ...? I thought, at first this was going to be a situation, again, where the character had to have first completed a specific mission from their normal storyline (as we've seen before) but my FED character has complete ALL storyline episodes and still cannot "Hail" Kagran..
You're missing this which Trendy should have edited the original post to reflect next week due to some technical issue discovered. Don't worry I missed it too because of it appearing in the game without being able to select it. So I asked in game and someone told me there was an update blog.

Well, if there are only two Iconians left...
I can imagine that: you arrange a "meeting" between M'Tara and Garak in a room, you wait about 4 minutes and then you see M'Tara coming out, floating and crying, completely broken, calling off the invasion and begging to join your crew in exchange of having no playable Cardassian faction ever.
Well, let that be your last battlefield?
