Hey everyone,
I really enjoy being your Community Manager. However, I feel like you only know me as your friendly-neighborhood-communications-director-publishery-person! Other than my introduction many moons ago, I dont feel like Ive really given a good chance for everyone to get to know me. As a fellow Trekkie and geek, I really want to nerd out with yall. So lets get to know each other better.
Im going to be holding an AMA tomorrow on
r/sto. Youll be able to ask questions and we can chit-chat from 1PM 2PM PDT. I can answer questions galore (though be prepared for some Redacteds about future content and changes). Lets talk about why Sisko is the best, how many D20s we have, and anything else that comes up. Also dont worry forum folks, this time I will write up a transcript of questions and answers.
I hope to see you there!~LaughingTrendy

Do you have a Beagle?
Or more to the point, is it a lie?
(j/k)
Because for the style of questions that I'm expecting, it's easier to track, make a transcript for ya'll with the subsequent Questions and Answers with that format. Everyone is invited to come join me on there.
Now, because I think you deserve a bigger response, here. In a greater topic, there's often a discussion about "why not this social platform?" One of the things that I'm always aware of is the purely vast amount of mediums there are. You may have also noticed that I've tried to become increasingly present in the forums as well, because this is our official forums. That being said, I still want to make sure that I don't ignore all possible opportunities to say hi.
How have you not gone on a murderous rampage and killed everyone on the forums yet?
But the answer is I don't dislike the forums.
Previously you got on cogent's rear ends to fix the boston hub, conquently making connections to server during the Omega Molecule event.
Game players: Please be patient and understand. Sometimes problems can't be helped or fixed with the snap of the fingers. If someone is doing something wrong, provide proof to your accusations.
Ranting & insulting the staff isn't going to speed up progress. It slows down progress & more time is spent taking negative actions then positive actions on the game/community.
And that is what happens when you don't have a starship doctor telling you when to go retire for the evening...

Hey, at least we got told about it being over there here instead of finding out about it cause somebody saw it on Betty's wall, eh?
But oh well, I've always viewed reddit as derpit and one of the worst places on the internet...but I hope they have fun over there.
I would prefer it if you weren't sleep deprived (and I'll say the same for any person who works a job), but your sacrifices are acknowledged and appreciated. Taking the extra effort to link the same information among multiple platforms (such as Reddit to the STO forums) is a good decision.
If you can keep us up-to-date regularly, and get some caffeine in your system early in the morning for extended server downtimes, I think you'll be regarded as one of the better community managers we've had.
I think the STO forums have great potential, and I'm glad you also recognize that instead of regarding us as a lost cause.
Tbh virus when i first heard this song i thought it was Reddits' theme song
Derrpit
What I don't want is there to as strong a divide there is. Preference is one thing, but that doesn't mean we can't do our best to bridge the gaps and unite the kingdoms far and wide of this community. Hark, adventu-
Er. Yeah.
I liked you before, now I LOVE you! *muah*

I think bridge building between the various communities in STO is a good decision. I've never seen the STO community as a singular entity, but a collection of facets of varying sizes -- all of whom want their voice to be heard.
Not an easy task, but consolidating everything into a central area (like the STO forums) is a great way to make sure everybody can be informed without needing a preferred media outlet.
The Redshirt Wedding, if you will.
I don't watch Game of Thrones but even I find that horrifying...

I always pick the Lion.
back during the days in the aftermath of the loss of brandon, when smirk took over, i mean i was hardly endeared to you or smirk, putting up a distant cold front as it were, i became resentful as a result for your lack of action towards the community you both represented as a whole. i became even more apathetic when you started to selectively pick to answer what fit the agenda rather then what was right and some of the best questions went unanswered. since smirks was removed, you seemed to of grown into the role a lot more then where you were back then.
in the recent months im guess its stephens influence taking over, but you seem to be a lot more open then i would of expected considering what went on the last year and a half. maybe i was too fatalistic? but i still remain somewhat suspicious though.
anyway, i wont be on that, but i hope you can take a question from the forum here for that event.
What changes are coming for the community in the next few months, aside from the change with the forum, is there anything else?
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
Now my role and a lot of my self-defined expectations have changed dramatically. Hence the changes you may have noted in my communication and activity.
I'm going to hold off on answering that question purely because it's a general question that I'm almost positive people will ask in the AMA. If it is not, I will still answer it.
well more communication is most certainly a plus.
as i hope you will carry it to the event, and i was being generic on purpose to give you some room on how you choose to answer it. but thanks anyway for at least considering it.
