Part of me is kind of hoping that part of the reason they're retiring the Corvette and Cruiser is because they're making T6 versions of them, I mean the Corvette is supposed to be a a racing ship so that sounds like a perfect fit to the pilot abilities.
Really, really doubt it will be a science ship. I mean, really. Science? Risians do science as well as Klingons, amirite?
Well it took Science to turn Risa into the beautiful planet it is today...
I doubt it will be a Sci ship, not for why you think but for the fact the Devs just don't make them...and making a Sci ship after their recent decisions...I just don't see them going with Sci because they want to keep the customers happy.
Best I can hope for is a nice Carrier but I agree with what most people say the odds are it's going to be a Pilot based Escort.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
T6 Pilot Risian Corvette, with the option to use old skin for those who already own one (I don't and never will, because exclusivity).
As many already pointed out, a new class (pilot) needs a free event variant to showcase just what those abilities are really like to make a decision whether to get a ship or bundle or not.
We already got a free pilot BOFF training from the feature episode, so what use does it have but to take up inventory space across all characters unless there's also a free pilot ship to try it on? I am actually curious what the ships are like, and seeing them do their thing is hardly the same as flying one.

I could see something like that... Perhaps a "Risian Racing Ferry", for lack of a better term, with a Pilot specialization. It's standard squadron would be interceptor-like "Risian Racers" -- fast, high defense, maybe with one of the pilot abilities. Perhaps the Ferry's special console and ship trait could be all about "formation flying" with combat pets.
And as a 'moneymaking' bonus for Cryptic... If you own a Risian Corvette, for a modest sum of fleet credits and dilithium, they could allow you to purchase it for use as a combat pet with the Ferry.

Well if you want to go by free ships...
There have been 3 Tac, 2 Eng, 1 Sci/Tac, and 1 Carrier/Sci.
Do we need more Tac? No. Do we need more Cruisers? Not really. Has there been a single pure Science ship? No...
It's Science's turn...but will it get that turn? Odds are...no.
