summer themed kit powers?

bunansabunansa Member Posts: 928 Arc User
With last year's winter event we had the chance to earn/purchase kit powers with a winter theme.. I.e. the cold grenade, launcher, and the endothermic. So chances of some big kahuna wave powers with this years summer event? And what type of powers should they be?

Theres always a chance for that with the bugs that creep in.

But I was leaning more toward either water or heat based abilities.
Think for science itd be cool to form a,whirlpool under a group of enemies.

    Ooh I know! I know!

    [Tactical]
Water Balloon: Hurls a water balloon at the target's current location. Everyone in the area of effect becomes soaking wet. The color of the balloons is random and this may be used on friend or foe.

    [Engineering]
Sand Turret: Quickly assembles a turret made out of sand which doesn't actually do anything. Anyone can kick it over by interacting with it.

    [Science]
Sunscreen Hypospray: Inoculates the target player (or self) against harmful UV rays for several hours. Water resistant!

In before sci players complain that they got cheated.

Science kit would give people Skin Cancer.
Engineering kit would give Sand Castle trip hazard.
Tactical kit would give Exploding Beach Balls but could only be thrown at 1/2 the range.

Risians are known for their hospitality. So...

Tactical: Risian Exposure - Functions like Rally Cry. Team gets +ridiculous amount of Perception, all enemies in the AoE get a 50% chance to be exposed. Every enemy that gets exposed grants a heal over time for the duration of both the power and the expose time. Enemies exposed for longer grants increasing amounts of health over time.

Engineer: Risian Medical Generator: Small Heal over Time, but continuous removal of debuffs.

Science: Risian Lifeguard - +ridiculous threat, Revives all dead allies, Teamwide Placate and small heal, +Temporary HP to the Science Officer to help deal with the additional threat generation.

Thank you Iconians for actual input/ideas

Dunno why some people don't think there could be some good stuff from this, the winter kit stuff is really nice since Iconians (not you, the other ones) don't like the cold effects much.

I'm fond of Risians and think they get a bad reputation for just being known as the party planet. They're members of the Federation, too -- and similarly should be on board with providing unique technology for the Federation, KDF, and Romulan Republic.

The addition of the Risian doffs from last year was a step in the right direction.

Nooooo... Squid Launcher Turret, fires a squid on a string at the nearest enemy, functions like fishing tractor beam, reeling the target in for culling...

these are some great ideas Iconians ^^

    i had these ideas myself:

Tactical: Gravitic Restraint Device - a thrown grenade (used by whatever passes for Risian security forces to stop lawbreakers without hurting them or anyone else, at least in my own personal head canon anyway ^^) that acts as a short range knockdown + pull; knocking down enemies and pulling them into a ball more or less, keeping them restrained there for a short time, unable to act, as well as causing minor damage

Engineering: Null Field Generator - a take on the Risian dampening field, the generator gives a massive debuff in a wide radius to enemies weapons and has a chance every 5 seconds of causing one enemy within the field to have their weapon disabled for 2 seconds

Science: R&R Expertise - mid range, medium strength AOE Heal, with added +Will and resistance to CC

Whats really sad is if memory serves they perfected weather control technology so that their planet would be summer time at all times.

Yeah, they act like a bunch of hippies all year long, but only because they can control the weather itself.

How about instead of kit abilities, we get career based weapons:
Tactical: Giant Horga'hn Bat melee weapon which 5% chance to remove armor and switch into swimwear when hit
Engineering: Squid shotgun, which shoots a mind control squid, which attaches to an enemy's head, has 5% to confuse enemies for 3 seconds
Science: Party repeater, similar to the plasma repeater, but fires dance music, 5% chance for enemies to break into an uncontrollable dance for 3 seconds

Risians are known for partying, so why not? Dare I say why not?

Yeah, the Lifeguard was something of a double meaning. Yes, it was intended to reference beach/pool lifeguards, but also the Heather Cameron character from Marvel comics, as markhawkman pointed out. I figure the Risians could have created a medical module for emergency response teams if they were ever attacked. With the iconian war allegedly being a thing now, it'd make sense for them to share their new emergency response technologies with us.

Lifeguard just seemed like a good fit. Since it can be taken either way. As the name of the device, or just a clever nickname. Plus the game is kind of low on the whole 'revive ally' mechanic.

The Risian Exposure power was also something of a double meaning... for obvious reasons, but felt it worked well as a tactical power. Plus, I wanted to see more kit powers in the game take advantage of the expose mechanic moreso than the exploit mechanic.

With all these abilities that increase expose chance and duration (like from the Command tree), an increasing heal over time would be seen as beneficial if your exploit attack is on cooldown and you miss your chance to vaporize an exposed enemy. Instead, you get healed so long as the enemy doesn't get hit with an exploit power. Thus, you never feel bad about missing your chance to hit someone with an exploit power. You can either vape them or get health from them. Totally your call.

Which I also think works well for the Risa theme, since maybe they aren't 100% okay with seeing people atomized.

That's not bad, but i have to admit i am tempted to do something with squirting water on orion / risian dancing girls resulting in them losing their tank tops and engaging in a seductive dance.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.

Hmm, instead of kit powers a deployable party music generator. Looks similar to the shield turret and has the same aoe as shield or medical turret, but does sonic damage to enemies entering the area. Low threat till they enter the field so it does not get shot instantly.

Dance leader turret. Puts a hologram above it of a random dancer to lead a dance. In combat it has medium health but draws a lot of agro to itself.

Bartender turret. Scans target inrange to find proper cocktail mixes. Debuff turret in combat.
