Same for me. It was honestly driving me nuts as I've also been crashing on loading the game. I'll end up trying some of the tips tomorrow when I log back on.
more and more of those Delta recruits they're so fond of will reach this mission and come to realize they can't complete the story-arc ....that will be great as promotion of their game
The game defaults to "auto "in display setting as well after every patch so you have to do the entire thing again (else the client crashes while still in space , never mind the mine-bug ) :
- launcher in safe mode , windowed
- login
- while still windowed set display to directx9ex >apply
- exit everything
- launch again safemode and windowed
- maximize window and adjust graphics
- repeatedly try this mission ( every time having to login very fast and making sure you do so in window and safe mode ) using the tactic of letting your team kill the mobs
Omg I made it! Tried the fighting in corridors, no pickups or grenades but still crashed. If you're lucky enough to have it load just be patient and do not verify files. I inched along but got it done finally. Last fight however seems to have an instant crash on grenade throw (for me at least)
OK... this is more or less the "official" fix from PWE for another issue. This may work for yall.
Start the game in Safe Mode.
Select D9 EX and adjust the other settings to your liking.
Exit the game.
In Options in the Launcher Go to the Command Line
Enter: -d3d11Enable 0
Save.
I still crash sometimes but seems to work mostly
what you must also do is to always make sure to start in windowed mode ( so before logging off go back to windowed mode ) . If not the client will safe default as "window ,maximized " and chance of crash is a lot bigger . But it's high time - I mean years overdue - Cryptic fixes these ancient bugs .
To put it bliuntly : no shortage of lockboxes dropping , but you're lagging at 1 fps from one lockbox to the next ( with intermittent crashes of client ) . I'm running far more recent games at near full detail - and in directx 11 ,I might add - at decent fps ,even when there's very crowded maps ( think GW 2 near a big event ) .Yet the antique - let's face it - STO fails to work properly ....
It's pretty outrageous players themselves first have to point out the bugs and then be completely ignored and having to come up with their own solutions .
The bugs of the Defera map aren't even acknowledged on the Tribble server ( and have been pointed out countless times now ,over the years ) .That signifies Cryptic doesn't give a s**t about bug submissionr reports by their players and completely focuses on their next lockbox -scheme .I'm wiling to bet they know about these issues but simply don't care anymore ( but then go ahead and say that , don't ever ignore your players )

its pretty outrageous we have to go to PWE to get help instead someone at cryptic even acknowledging there is am issue.
its pretty outrageous players have to go thru so much effort just to login.
I'm currently experiencing this bug just trying to log in. My toon is at ESD, and I've tried all of the suggestions I could find just to log him in, to no avail. I've even tried safe mode, and that did nothing. At least a few times a year, STO has these type of crippling problems, and they start by blaming the players. If they are working on something, they are horrible about communicating. How much of my monthly fee is going towards the "community managers?"
i had experienced this same problem. ruined two days of the game and I was updating the TOR client when i found this thread.
for what it's worth, i tried most all of the tactics suggested. the most helpful was running away and letting my BOFFs fight while I hide in the tunnel. on a couple of pulls i shot them myself with no issue, but it does seem to crash when there's shaking and an ice grenade
I think this thread needs to stick with the specific crash bug the OP mentioned.
I just experienced this bug twice now. It happens at the same place each time. I think it's near the second console at the right side o the map. It happens when I engage the Breen in that room.
Glad I found this thread before I reinstalled the game to see if it was my system. Will try the solution that was posted just in case next time I log on.
Update: crashed 3 times, but I did not send a report or let the game look for errors and I made it through just by logging back in fast. I did this mission before on another character, and I don't remember it being buggy last year. But last year I was on a much slower/older computer?

it happens on all computers ( from what I have read ) : old and new , Nvidia and AMD etc.
the only known "solution" is to log back in real fast after every CTD and have your team kill mobs while you run back ( and out of sight of the graphical FX) and repeat that procedure until all mobs are dead
This is very annoying I am leveling a toon and using the story line missions to do this. Zaria is a freaking nightmare. I crashed 6 times trying to finish this mission. I got it done but this is a simple fix I bet and they are not taking the time to correct this.
The issue exists during the mission Out in the Cold within the Zaria system (during the "Deferi Dilithium" part of the mission).
Game crashes inside of the mine areas.
Usually the player reaches half of the objectives, then the game suddenly closes/crashes.
Allowing the client to auto-check the files before playing again doesn't fix anything.
I'm playing with a KDF Delta Recruitment toon. I cannot continue to progress until this issue is fixed.
It's still an issue, eight weeks since it was first reported. It has effectively killed my interest in completing the Delta Recruits promotion.
You would think that after eight weeks this would have been addressed. I know, I know they are busy fixing the 100+ other lag-inducing bugs. But dayum, this is frustrating not being able to complete this once popular mission.
There will be fewer crashes, if not to shoot at enemies, but still need to hide the weapon. You can throw grenades. The enemies will shoot away team.
With boss mission can be a problem, but no big deal.
This is another thread to a bug that's been reported A LOT, they know there is a problem with this mission. It was heavily reported during the Delta Recruiting event as some players were unable to complete and collect all the rewards from the event.
Unfortunately there are bugs like this that, for whatever reason, just aren't high in the fix list. It should be as a story arc mission is broken and should take priority, but it's also one of those older missions and it's looking like it's going to be one of those ones that may never get fixed. There are plenty of bugs in game that have reached that state, where 4-5 years have elapsed and we're still waiting.
I just right now had this issue. It crashed and my friend linked me here.
What I did was bring the enemies before the final boss down the corridor which stopped it crashing at that point. I was able to fight the boss, but I went down and my game crashed. I did NOT verify any files, and when the game booted back up again, the boss was dead and all I had to do was leave the system to complete it. I have done this with my Delta Rom. First time I have had problems with this mission, but the corridor and not verifying seems to do the trick
Had like 3 crashes today with this mission. Out in the cold > Deferi dilithium. This bug is like half a year old and apparently still isn't fixed...
In a game that gets patches almost every single hour? How is this even possible?

I was on my FED Delta character.
Which way did you go? Maybe that matters.

Should be fixed after today's patch.
<fingers crossed>
