So, I know this may have been posted too many times, but I just felt like, I need to say I really love this ship, as many others; and we'd love to see it in-game. Maybe giving her a cool name like Long-Range battleship.
Something tells me they might be thinking about it, already;and we won't have towait much longer for it to be playable. Maybe in a 3 ship bundle; engineering, science and tactical variants.
I expect they re-model it, but keeping a large part of the original look of this beauty.
So, this is how I picture its stats.
Typhoon Class Long-Range Tactical Battleship (Tactical Variant)
I'd like one. But make it 5/5 weapon slot. It's built for battle after all
The op posted perfectly reasonable stats for a playable typhoon. Stop ruining it by demanding it be overpowered. Cryptic's never going to do it, nor should it ever be done. 8 weapons maximum, now and forever. It's balanced.
Cosnidering a good bunch of Typhoon models were phased out and replaced throughout the episodes and the command battelcruisers resemble the Typhoon in many ways I think the chances are rather slim.
Also: 5/5 weapons? Lol. All T6 ships feature the exact same weapon layout as the T5 ones. Ehy should this placeholder-ship from the early days be treated differently?
^ Memory Alpha.org is not canon. It's a open wiki with arbitrary rules. Only what can be cited from an episode is. ^
"No. Men do not roar. Women roar. Then they hurl heavy objects... and claw at you." -Worf, son of Mogh
"A filthy, mangy beast, but in its bony breast beat the heart of a warrior" - "faithful" (...) "but ever-ready to follow the call of the wild." - Martok, about a Targ
"That pig smelled horrid. A sweet-sour, extremely pungent odor. I showered and showered, and it took me a week to get rid of it!" - Robert Justman, appreciating Emmy-Lou
Interesting. OP, you've obviously thought quite alot about this and I can appreciate that. However, I feel I must put in the cons to your design.
First and foremost, this is a battleship is it not? I giant hulking weapons platform of death. So your maneuverability and inertia rating are too high. If you reduced both, it would probably be a tad more fair. Secondly, most (if not all) T6 ships have 13 BOff seats. Your designs only have 12. Many have a triple Lt. I see no reason why this shouldn't as well.
Lastly, if you think about the ship in game, it's very much cruiser-esque with it's design. Therefore I think you're downplaying the engineering on it a tad too much. But I will also say that the last thing the feds need are MORE engineering based cruiser/battlecruiser class ships.
Other than what I said above, I approve.
It is said the best weapon is one that is never fired. I disagree. The best weapon is one you only have to fire... once.

I don't know about that, most of the Canon ships in the show were cruisers, the Galaxy, Sovereign, Akira, Nebula, Exelsior, Ambassador, Constitution.

You know thats gonna happen sooner or later. I'm expecting the 5/5 weapon layout to first show up on the T6 scimitar or at least a 5/4. That being said, yes I would love to have a typhoon, Mostly becasue its a cannon ship. Second, I actually like they way it looks and its huge. Make it a true "SPACE CRAFT CARRIER with 3 Hanger bays and take my money, NOW!!!!!
The Typhoon is actively being removed from the game, you will never see it as a playable ship.
Why? I have no idea, people wanted it but Cryptic doesn't want to release it. The in game models of the Typhoon are being replaced by Command Cruisers, the writing is on the wall.
The Typhoon is being removed from the game completely.

The Fed Typhoon requests are the equivalent of KDF K'Vort Bird of Prey, Romulan D-7 requests
Borticus has unofficially said (I asked him about it in-game through a PM) that every Typhoon model will eventually be replaced by a Command Battlecruiser, including the ones in the Photonic Fleet and Fleet Support powers as soon as they change the code for those powers.
Since the Typhoon has been replaced in every other instance, including even the untargetable one at Drozana, except for maybe Battle Group Omega (Which I think was forgotten about), it's an inevitability unfortunately.

Yeah, I wanted this ship to be good ingame; but not overpowered like I've seen in some other threads (specially with that obsession for the 5/5 weapon slots)
Also, you're right about the BOFF seats, but I wanted to be careful and not try to make it look too powerful. And I think, as much of a battleship it may be, it wouldn't be good to have a too low turn rate nor inertia. Maybe as a Galaxy or Odyssey...

I have noticed the replacement, and I know; but I try to think of it as pure marketing; making it visible so people buy it.
I try to keep hope, I really like the typhoon; that's why I opened this thread and have tried to speak with some devs before.
And if unfortunately they were to delete it forever, I think we would at least deserve an explanation as to why they completely remove it instead of redesign it.

It was originally a kitbash designed to fill a void that the feds had. In canon, your "battleships" per say on the fed side were the Galaxy and Sovvy. However, they weren't designed exclusively for combat. The Galaxy was designed as a long range explorer/enforcer, and the Sovvy was designed as an upgraded explorer/strike cruiser (MY OPINION ONLY, PLEASE DO NOT THROW CANON BOOKS AT ME).
I think it was admitted that the only fed ship designed exclusively as a combat ship was the USS Defiant. So cryptic took this, decided the feds needed something that was equivalent to the Neggy in purpose, and made this kitbash called the Typhoon.
So let's look at the in-game model of the Typhoon. It's big. It's bulky. It obviously looks durable and well armored. It is VERY well armed (I mean cmon, the damn thing has torps that consistently hit for 30-40k). It is VERY durable (most typhoon fleet supports can last the entire match easily, and even the NPC mobs are quite strong). But overall, it's what you'd imagine as a battleship.
But then they released the command cruisers. What are they? Well they are big. The Concorde is bulky. They are also usually pretty well armed (the NPC ones I've been along side and come up against do hit pretty hard as NPCs go). They are durable (take a long time to die, provided they ever do). But they don't have quite the same... well image that the Typhoon has. They're sleek and shiny. The Typhoon was always rugged and functional. But the Command Cruisers do get the job done just as well.
Do I approve of this phasing out? HELL NO. I love the Typhoon. But do I understand it? Yes.

Detailed and well put, I have to agree.
Would I like to see a playable Typhoon? Yes, of course, it'd be nice to see players flying that beast around. Would I buy one? Probably not, I didn't really like the design much, the pylons holding the nacelles seemed too small for the overall bulk of the ship... if I were flying one I'd always be worrying that the engines would tear off.. lol (admitedly at least one variant of the command ships also has this minor visual hiccup, but the pylons can be replaced with ones from the other variants:))
I'm moderately displeased that the Typhoon is being phased out, but I can understand it's a dated design which the Command ships easily replaced.
Personally i think the forbidden love-child between hideous and monstrous, better known as "the vomit inducing " or the Typhoon class, should be put out of its misery and removed from the game completely.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
This is how I'd see a Typhoon. 1 no more bundles of 3 >_< They are so annoying and the console sets are almost never worth it. I'd rather 1 version of the Typhoon that's a heavier duty version of the T5U Sovvy and has a Fleet variant.
Typhoon Class Battleship
-Mininum Rank: Vice Admiral
-Hull Strength: 46,000 at level 50 and 56,000 at level 60
-Shield Modifier: 1.1
-Crew: 950
-Fore Weapons: 4
-Aft Weapons: 4
-Device Slots: 4
-Bridge Officer Stations: Lt Commander Tactical, Commander Engineering/Command Specialization, Lieutenant Science, Lieutenant Engineering, 1 Ensign Universal
-Console Modifications: 4 Tactical, 4[+1 Fleet] Engineering, 3 Science
-Base Turn Rate: 7
-Impulse Modifier: 0.15
-Inertia: 30
-Hangar Bays: 1 (Peregrines)
-Special Console
+10 Weapon Power, +10 Shield Power
-Starship Ability Package (Just use the Destroyer ones) Tier 5 special ability (Something that makes Repulsors have a special proc or more powerful because when you fight Typhoon NPC's those Repulsors are wicked.)
To be honest, the Typhoon is (for me) neither really beautiful nor something outstanding, however, I somehow got infected by the Typhoon-hype and always supported the ship as playable.
Hopefully we will see it "soon".

Whether I personally want to play a ship, I am all support for all the ships that have appeared in anything Trek to be in game and playable. I fully support the Jupiter and Typhoon as playable ships not because I personally want them, but because someone else does. Hell, I can't understand why it would be so hard to create the playable ship by just creating the visuals and putting them on an existing ships stats. Hell, just make the Typhoon a skin available for the Tac Oddy or Sov C-store ship.
I for one would love to see the Jupiter more than the Typhoon, I like the idea of a heavy Fed Carrier that can utilize Federation frigates of some sort. I'd like to see a carrier that carries hangar pet Aquarius destroyers as opposed to the horrible console version that is uncontrollable for the Oddy.
I could easily envision this ship working well as a torp-boat and coming equipped with either a unique launcher and/or a torp-boosting console, as it strikes me that long-range implies a lot of torpedo usage.

As much as I love the Typhoon having a 5/5 weapon layout would be ridiculous and would make every other ship in the game obsolete overnight.
