Game crashes when i try to log my main

As the title my main character 'stormxdragon' is not available as every time time i try i the game will crash and i am presented with an error report. My other 4 character are working normally and i have tried bringing down down down graphics, starting in safe mode and re installing and all of it has been a waste of time.

I am also having this same issue with my main character I use. Others work fine but my primary will not open and crashes the program.

i wonder does it have anything to do with where you are when you log, eg i was in sol space and have noticed several other ppl who have had this same thing say they were there also

I was loading into romulas........what lvl is your character?

My main (Level 60) keeps crashing on the Beta Quadrant sector space load screen....

All three of my fed toons crash on the character select screen when selected and they have been since the launch of season 10. Was finally able to log into my others this last patch though. I believe all three were on ESD prior though.

Character who is stuck is level 60 but i have 3 other 60's and they're all fine - and i had no issue with crashing since the patch on Thursday.
There's been something wrong with every patch or expansion since i first played in beta - makes me wonder if patches are tested properly. If i'm honest i'm losing interest in waiting for a patch to fix something. Having put so much time and resources into getting my ship geared up and upgraded to a place where i am finally happy with it only to find this characters not available 2 days later feels a bit like someones taking the p**s.

I'm having the same issue, game crashes when trying to load my character. I tried changing my display setting to safe mode and directx9 but that didn't help. I am a Fed.

Everything will start up fine and I can log in to other captains just fine. When I try to log in to my main the load bar will get to ~95%, freeze for a moment then crash. Usually without a error report screen. It will only do this for one captain.

I have downloaded STO to 3 different computers and tried on 2 separate lans and I keep getting the same crash on the same captain. This is not a corrupted game file or bad connection.

This started after the april 23 patch. Was playing just fine on that captain a hour before maintenance and have not been able to log in to that captain since then. A completely uneducated guess would be the save state of my captain is some how corrupted server-side.

That's a lot of people with problems - some have been waiting weeks which i find quite disgusting.
Seems they spend more time posting gimmicky ships or sales than fixing things - i for one but be fine with the game coming down for several days if it was for a major renovation.

Same here, didn´t see this Thread sry.

But after a complete reinstall of STO a 2nd char do also not work now. My Main is at ESD, the other at DS9.

With 3 chars I have no problems.

I absolutely love my command ship! Too bad I can only look at it on the character select screen:mad:

I planned on buying pilot ships myself to play with a bit.

A quick workaround to gain access to your character:

1) start a new character
2) skip tutorial
3) switch character to you "locked out" character
4) character works

The only problem is you have to create a "new character" every time you want to log on but since Cryptic is ignoring the issue and not replying to my multiple tickets submitted about the issue - this is the only "solution" I have had work.

Seriously?

Can´t believe that... sry.. And I have to invest ZEN to do that, cause I have no more char places.
This can not be the why to solve this.

i haven't been able to play since Season 10 launch... crashes at teh cryptic screen about 75% through loading....

Thanks but I just tried that a dozen times and still crashing at ~90% when trying to log into my main.

Edit - I got it to work with a variation on your instructions. I switched while the window asking if I wanted to skip the tutorial was still up. Switching after selecting skip would always fail for me.

And is if to troll me i get 3 identical mails from them trying to get me to buy a pilot ship yet the only character id use them on is still stuck and after 3 days still no help fixing it. GG

Unbelievable, it works for me. I´ve had to invest 625 ZEN to get 2 new slots. After creating a new char (I did chose rom, tac, fem) I can login into my mainchar.

Now.. who gives me back the 625 ZEN? I dont need a 6th char!

Got a reply a gm moved my character it let me log in but crashed again almost straight away and then went back to crashing on load screen again :mad:

OP ain't alone. mine started last week. tried switching toons today from one, low lvl, already on ESD and it STILL crashed. that make 17 attempts. all OTHer toons are playable, one a 60 and the 4th low lvl

It is now allowing me to log said character but only if i create a new character on foundry, i can log in and out of my main like normal but once i exit it will revert to crashing on loading screen as before until i delete and remake the character.
I have had a reply from my ticket but it looks as if they're implying its a problem @ my side - but surely if i can log everything else fine and the bodge it fix is also game related surely that means the problem is on their side not mine (?)

Nah... support done nothing for me. 1,5 week of trying thing and nothing.

What they imply is that the problem is on my side (ofc) and want to do a rollback on the character. Which would be ok, if I knew it helps for sure. So I said no for now. (Don't want to lose everything on the exchange, and hell, reproduce and fix the issue...)

Running out of patience.

Already wasted at least 10 hours on verifying and stuff while they don't want to provide a simple, very simple info: What the hell happens at the end of the loading. Nor they want to give a tool or whatever to get meaningful info out of the crash.

Well, 'rant' off.

Well i had given up on this game as creating a new character every time i wanted to log my main was annoying and inconvenient, few weeks later i see summer event has started so i think might as well. I wait for the patch and log in completely forgetting about my previous problems and as i log without any issue i suddenly remember why i had stopped.
This surely proves that the issue i had game side and not as the gm implied an issue at my side??
