EDIT: Greetings, all. Thanks for the warm welcome. We've updated the post to contain an English version of the poster, if you aren't interested in learning Klingon.
All I can say is I want to know just one instance where Starfleet, KDF, or the RSE in the series ever had it where they bombard their people with government propaganda posters. To me its just not trek/even further throws the game out of canon lol. Not to mention this last one was horrific to say the least its like ferrengi female wearing clothes.
Personally, I love the posters. I just wish they would actually consult with someone fluent in <tlhIngan Hol> ranther than "bing-on Hol" before they publish something in Klingon.
Heh, neat, our Bridge Officers get Tales of War too.
It's interesting to think that the ancient Klingon gods may indeed have been Iconians, while Humanity was still evolving from apes, learning to make fire and stone tools, etc. The age of the Klingon species isn't something that is ventured into all that often, nor the Vulcans and Romulans. Really, we human are the children of the universe... young and idealistic, but lacking the perspective that comes of age.
I wonder what lies in the forgotten past of our elders, eh?
With each passing day I wonder if I stepped into an alternate reality. The Cubs win the world series. Donald Trump is President. Britain leaves the EU. STO gets a dedicated PvP season. Engineers are "out of control" in STO.
I'm not entirely sure on a couple things though: 1) The story seems a little too idealistic/romantic for a Klingon; 2) I'll assume the Orion not looking as the sexy archetype is by choice? Althought the original wasn't really made less appealing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:We_Can_Do_It!.jpg ; 3) Could you add a translation of the message on the poster somewhere?
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class. Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider. Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.

well it does stand to reason that not all orion females have the same body type, if they did that would just seem odd haha, that said they also rule the orion civilization so I guess they went with "you dont have to be thin and wearing nothing to be a leader" - which honestly is a nice change haha

you do realize that there is barely anything we know about civilian life for any of the peoples from any of those factions...so having posters is fine, okay sure the look comicy and ridiculous at times but frankly this is also a game if we had everything exactly the way the shows were then likelihood is that we would likely never make the admiral rank and we would probably be still fighting out in our Tier 3-4 ships. rofl.
its a game. You either make things fun or you make things dull by not innovating.
Nobody has said that this will be cannon anyway....I would like it to be but if there's ever another TV series I highly doubt they will use this anyway. Apart from the destruction of romulus perhaps.

Well, there was an episode of TOS where a Klingon woman was afraid Kirks crew would do terrible things to them because they were taught humans were monsters. Don't know if they still do that after TNG, though.
Seems right up the RSE's alley, though, given their reputation for deception.
Besides, they seem more like inspiration than propaganda to me.

Exactly. Aside from the destruction of Romulus (which is canon), STO is soft-canon; if a show or movie contradicts it, the show/movie takes precedence.
Your father was captain of a starship for twelve minutes. He saved 800 lives, including your mother's, and yours.

You're right of course. It was just on the first glance, the Orion woman looked like possibly another species (someone mentioned a Ferengi on first page :P ), it got me confused.
I've been asking for more variety on STO posters, screenshots and art in general, afterall.
TOIVA, Toi Vaxx, Toia Vix, Toveg, T'vritha, To Vrax: Bring in the Allegiance class. Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider. Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.
I like the posters' concept - they're sort of over the top, but we're fighting ancient undying evil, so they're more for the populace than the captains. I've enjoyed the whole 'WWII' vibe to them.
Orion the Riveter works pretty well in that vibe.
The story's really lovely too. Poor bridge officer, to be on of the casualties and not one of the heroes.
Fate - protects fools, small children, and ships named Enterprise Will Riker

i cant say im happy with the quality of the 2nd tale compared to the 1st tale because the latter had at least some content and depth to it rather than quoting the slogan of the empire and someone else foolishly tossing their life under the bus.
do these klingons/orions/nausicaan type ever read of the tale of the klingon man who stood before the wind that killed him? anyone understand the point behind the story that the wind does not respect a fool? :P
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

"We can do it"
We can all join the battle
Help the war effort
Serve the Empire
*The translator apparently threw their hands in the air here and did their best to write effort (in English) with a writing system that lacks F :P
Either that or they had Bing set on pIqaD.
It's not complete Dap, but I think I can have a go at improving it.
I've substituted "battle" with "great battle", and "war effort" with "machinery of war" in lieu of anything better. "veS" on its own would have been fine. This translation can likely bear improvement - I've only been learning tlhIngan Hol out of curiosity in my spare time, but using Bing will rarely give you the best result. Nice thought though; I do like these posters.
If Cryptic want a hand with translation in the future I don't mind having a bash at it. (Hint hint.)
The poster is a great play on the WWII Rosie the Riveter poster.
Not to be a nit-picker, but this one is a particular pet peeve of mine.
This poster is a nod to Westinghouse's "We Can Do It!" poster which is *not* Rosie the Riveter
The Wiki articles on both We Can Do It! and Rosie both give some very good info on each, their differences, and the one being mis-referenced for the other.
While I do enjoy the We Can Do It! image on homages to it, I prefer Mr. Rockwell's painting of Rosie. As a player whose main fed captain has an unusually tall and full-bodied Orion female first officer, I'd prefer to see an Orion version of the Saturday Evening Post cover.
Mary Doyle Keefe, the woman who posed for Norman Rockwell's Rosie painting, passed away just last week at age 92. This article provides some nice insight into both Keefe and the artwork itself.
Oh, and here's the song that popularized the concept (this version performed by The Four Vagabonds).
I love these posters, and I really appreciate these short story series! Thank you, please write some more!
Also, it would be good to see an effort in making the sci-fi world of Star Trek realistic by introducing aspects of everyday life relevant to civilians as well, rather than the usual military environment of Starfleet, KDF and the like...
One thing I've always longed for in the shows is to see a glimpse of normal everyday stuff like a gorn going to the supermarket on Qo'noS.. or a student at Uni on Vulcan or whatnot xD
I mean just to have at least the illusion that the amazing stories of Star Trek happen in a real universe, and life goes on in real worlds with people inside, not just miniaturised backdrops
Heh, neat, our Bridge Officers get Tales of War too.

It would benefit us all if the log-in screen depicting these war posters wasn't covered up by advertizing. From what I've seen of them they are very well done, but they also strike a cord. Somehow "Rosie the Riveter" being an Orion woman makes for a smile, but at the same time it actually brought a tear to my eye for combining the poster and the words of a true Klingon warrior depicted here.
How I would love to have that warrior aboard my ship and under my command. To see him fight the good fight and survive the day, to go on to be the stuff that the Klingon songs of great courage, bravery, and honor are made of, and if the developers can find a way to do it, to see him finally leave my crew and command to take on a great ship and great crew of his own to command, standing forever steadfastly in proud strength for the Empire.
Not to be a nit-picker, but this one is a particular pet peeve of mine.

The poster in my world properly identifies as "Rosie the Riveter" as well as the old Westinghouse promo. I'm a direct prodigy of WW II and that image is engrained in me from early childhood. I don't know who makes the claim that the poster wasn't seen outside of Westinghouse because my Grandmother worked for Westinghouse at the time and made certain, with great pride, that it was readily seen by all.
For my Grandmother, she was "Rosie", and so was every woman ever employed by Westinghouse during the war. The title of "Rosie the Riveter" was not just a GM theme. It encompassed the heart and soul of every woman so spirited to push for that last ounce to make sure our boys on the battlefield were well supplied for none ever wanted to have to carry the idea in the back of their minds that any one of them died due to not having something they produced. Especially if that "Rosie" was finding their own son was the one on the battlefield.
That's real war history. Not the version that tries to make every effort put forth into it the result of an exploitative evil boss as is depicted in Wikipedia.
Or an Orion bridge pack? I know the old "KDF assets don't sell as much" excuse gets thrown around, but options to dress up the eye candy could sell well... look at how many players stocked up on swimwear during the last summer event!
The story reminds one that not all heroes are high profile. The grunts who follow orders and are willing to heroically fight and die with little fanfare are the backbone of victorious war efforts.
I am hoping that all the posters would be made available at some point. They are nicely provocative wallpaper on my smart phones and tablets.
I salute you Cryptic.

Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!
One small complaint though. The date in the news both in arc and the launcher is wrong (good old copy and paste from the last news i guess).;)

What say ye, developers? Can it be done?
Good question! They are very well done and deserve far better recognition.
