Oh what a surprize for the 5th day straight about the same time of day the servers stop working
Launcher wont load and if you get past the launcher to the character select your characters Load forever to just be dropped again.
But heaven forbid a dev come from down on high to let us know what is going on.
But hey guys if we wait around another 10 minutes there will be a new ship pack to buy and Laughingtrending with another useless post about something that doesnt really matter.

FIX YOUR DAMN SERVERS!
I concur. Same thing happening to me. Same time every day for the past half week or so. It really isn't that complicated to maintain servers. Hell even BioWare's SWTOR's servers are more stable than this. Shame on you guys.
I am 100 % with you! Same problems here - this game has become as mess, and the so called customer service or who else should communicate with PWE's customers does not even add a few red lines to the forums saying: WE ARE AWARE OF ..blabla....well..time to NOT buy zen again...
Is this problem with the game going to be a new religion or..? Because it is seriously getting annoying AF. So I mamaged to log in on my first attempt, 2 minutes into the game and the game I start lagging like crazy, I think to myself - "If I log off, I know for sure I won't be able to get back in."
And just as I said it, moments later I log of... Can't get back in because nothing loads.
The launcher won't connect, I live in the US, and this is BULL.
Have you ever read a support ticket reply from these people?.. They will straight out tell you - "We don't give a fk about your problem, fix it yourself." And I'm not being sarcastic either.

That's not honest. They don't say that. Or, if they did, I'd send Trendy a PM to make her aware of it. I've seen plenty of evidence that as a company they do care about fixing problems.
However... this IS a F2P game. They do not have a hundred operators standing by to take your call. They don't have an SLA for resolution times.
They don't provide hands-on tech support and they don't have personalized responses to every single ticket. You don't get to spend a half-hour talking to a help desk overseas.
By and large, you're going to get a canned response. And yes, you will probably find the most helpful "do-it-yourself" advice right here on the forums. I wouldn't be terribly surprised to learn that they're directing people to come here for help.
That said, I have enough experience with this game over the years that I've been playing it to understand that patch days can go south and that it takes them time to fix anything that goes wrong. You simply don't play if the game is acting up. You give it a day and see whether tomorrow is any better. If it isn't, you file a ticket and go play Minecraft (or whatever) until it gets better.
If people aren't logging in, their metrics are going to suck. Even if you're in the camp that thinks all they care about is metrics that look good, you have to admit that a sharp decline in logins is going to get their attention real quick.
My views may not represent those of Cryptic Studios or Perfect World Entertainment. You can file a "forums and website" support ticket here Link: How to PM - Twitter @STOMod_Bluegeek

Patch days can indeed go south but this is an issue that started over a week ago.
A lot of us have been giving it a day for a week and a half.
Instead of acting like this is everyone's first game ever, could we get a dev to post that they are, in fact, aware of and looking into the problem?

doesn't help if you can't even get to the log in screen and are staring at a black loader
I've been combing through several of these posts, trying to find answers to questions regarding sluggish play and loading time. Today I conducted my own scientific experiment. I wanted to see how long it would take to patch in the new launcher. Based on what was indicated in our forums, Arc is the best one to use, so I use it. Server status is green; therefore, operational. I'm not one to live by my computer and play this game for twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. It would be a dream come true, but not very practical. For the record, I HAVE PATIENTLY WAITED FOUR HOURS for the patch to load, and it has only reached 16%. Now, I'll admit that I close it out and try to restart with the hope that it will seemlessly get me into the game, that which we all love. I have given up playing today. I look forward to a 30 minute interval from this stress called life just to slip into another character's shows, even if it's just for a while. How disappointed I am, as well.
The question remains -- why such as big hassle? Yes, it's a free game, and yes, people enjoy the opportunity to play it. What people do NOT enjoy is that those of us, like me, who aren't what wouldn't be considered as tech savvy, feel helpless and truly do not know what to do during this time of crisis. We're not ALL computer tech support people. Emotions run high, especially mine, and I just want to know I'm doing something wrong, or if there is something else bigger than maybe I can lend support to fix. I guess my point is to keep patient and to find a different pastime as the game is not as reliable as we were led to believe, keeping in mind that there may be a skeleton crew of people trying to solve world wide problems. No, I'm not happy, but will have to accept what the situation is. I just hope it gets better real soon. Thanks for listening.

Basically all we can do is wait I have like many others submitted a support ticket on the patching issue. What Cryptic need to do is instead of racing and speedily looking over stuff to meet a deadline is too postpone updates until they are known to be safe, then make everyone aware of the bugs they have encountered. What would also be nice is if they acknowledged that there is a problem with the launcher from the get go and posted it on the forum dedicated to tech issues, that way we have some idea of what is wrong and we also have the peace of mind that it is in the process of being fixed. In my opinion Cryptic's handling of said situations has been negligent at best and needs to be addressed.
Sorry to double post but I have just managed to fix my issue!
here is what I did after trying many different things such as force verifying and attempting to re-download the entire game. I went into the launcher options and under Patching changed the patching proxy from none which is what I had it previously set as and changed it to US as soon as I made the change the patcher while taking longer made it past where it was stuck and brought me into the game!
I am having the same issue. I have worked on this and find that it is a Direct X 11 issue from what I can see.
ARC and STO shortcut do not work.
I have submitted a bug report.
One workaround to use that works for me.
Find the STO shortcut in your STO Folder and copy and paste it to get the game to work.
Mine is running right now.
Do not change any Direct X setting in your display settings or you will get a total game crash I had to reinstall.
And still looking at the same problem and the same solution.

Tried that and it still doesn't work.. i think they screwed something up on the server end or one of there login servers is borked... because its not affecting everyone... been dealing with this for the last 2 days and its getting really old... its like the launcher is just loading so damn slow it cant function
I've been trying to log in for over 2 hours now. Launcher won't even load. Goes to a black screen that reads "Loading. Please wait." where nothing happens. I've tried restarting the thing multiple times.
There is clearly an issue with the login servers. Is anyone from Cryptic working on this problem? Do they even know? Some acknowledgement of the issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for the T6 Galaxy Class. - I support Tovan Khev. - Please bring back the exploration missions.
Well I am still considering subscribing to this game, but things like this make it increasingly difficult for me to make a decision like that. I have been locked out of the game pretty much since around 6pm eastern time today. Still no luck in 6 hours trying to log back in.

I was saving some $$$$ for a LifeTime sale. No..not anymore...I can save it up a little more and get a Xbox1 now. HALO and Battlefront...what else do I really need he he he...........
Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I debated a while on whether or not it was worth it to drop th emoney on a ship when I couldn't even play the game for about five days straight. But, the last couple days have been good, so I got paid, and I went ahead and got the ship this morning. Now, I come home from work, and it's right back to the same bull****. Now, I can't even get into the game anymore. I can't even get the LAUNCHER up and running. So someone please tell me how this is my fault now just for the icing on the cake.
Ive been having a similar problem for the better part of a week now, game seems to be doing just fine, then as soon as it gets to the "Patching" stage of the log in I get the "Oops" message (same happens when I log into Neverwinter too). As far as I can tell the issues not at my end, can anyone offer any help/advice ?
doesn't help if you can't even get to the log in screen and are staring at a black loader
hey um I know what is causing that.
That means you have your direct x and visual C++ drivers corrupted...that's if the launcher thing is giving a black image.
if you are continually just getting a crash when it tries to patch...as in as soon as it tries it just dies......
then that is one of three issues...
1: game is in the wrong directory so the patch cant patch it so it fails....this can happen if you move your game or where lazy and copied someone else' downloaded game.
2: the directory and contents are write protected....not sure what does this....arc does it...steam does it....just random enough that it frustrates the heck out of me
3: launcher is corrupt...this can happen when they update themselves...not sure why they have to redownload the entire launcher when they just change a picture....but go figure.
the arc interference and possibly steam interference.....if you are getting those...this maybe be resulting in crashing after a patch or during the starter load screen,.......that's a rendering issue....
that could be a graphic driver problem....but more then likely it simply an incompatibility with the arc or steam and their overlays....you can turn off those things or just disable the overlays.
Blue screens and total computer freeze....is one of two possible issues....
one is the resource overload....I made a post about this.....I had the issue....there is a hotfix from Microsoft that will fix it.
the other is a corrupt video driver....which can be because the driver is really corrupted or you have bad memory chips or a bad graphics card....or....you just plain have not got rid of the dust inside your machine in eons.
I still get an issue actually....not sure what is causing it....sooo random...happens all over the game.....its not from an overheat....or anything that makes sense.....but if I catch the bug thing from cryptic before it closes itself.....I can make it submit a crash dump.
trust me....it takes an hour to send that crash dump.....13 gigs of data is fairly large....I am betting they are beginning to hate me.....I may infact fill up their computers soon.
