Hope for the best but expect the worst. That way you'll never be disappointed.
The worst? Such at the pilot ship (or at least the one in the leaked pics) being a fighter/shuttle or low tier craft?
Take a good look at the pics. Specifically, the beam array hardpoints. The ship in the leaked images only has points for 2 fore and 2 aft weapons, and given at the Mogh's beam array hardpoints are actually 5/3 on the model and the Mat'has are 5/2, these are the ships actual wep layout numbers.
At least it's not another battlecruiser. I can understand the disappointment if it's not a BoP, but the Raptor class as a whole has needed more dev love for a long, long time, so it's not neccessarily a bad thing if we're getting another one.

I can get onboard with this. For years and years, even before Fleet Ships came out, the KDF Raptor line just wasn't competitive. When Fleet Ships did come out, they were quite useless and could not compete with the likes of the harder hitting, nimbler, superior handling 5 TAC Fed Escorts that were out at the time. Defiant and Prometheus would eat Raptors up as appetizers. At least BOPs had Battle Cloaking.
The KDF Battlecruiser line is suitably covered ATM. The 3 Command FDCs, Qib Intel, T6 Negh'Var fill in various capacities and are capable in their own right.
The Matha is excellent in the Raptor line but another good one can't hurt.
But we need a BOP at T6, more than a Sci Vessel, IMO. The BOP is the signature kind of ship in the franchise and the most commonly shown Klingon warship in canon. We need it represented at T6.
Ohhhh they didn't post the pictures directly on the page thats why I missed it.
That is an odd looking ship. Not bad, but the wings are certainly wrong to be a BoP, and those intake-looking things certainly don't look like a usual Klingon raptor either. Gorn influence maybe?
I suspect it will be a Qin variant raptor, much like the federation looks to be a Defiant variant. I presume the Romulan one will be a Dhelen variant.
[Imagines an improved Dhelan]
*Shudders*
Dhelan was a very good ship. A T6 version of that would be very nice. The SCI-Scort type of Warbird with better staying power than the Faeht. I hated chasing down a savvy Dhelan player as much as I hated chasing down T'Varos.
That gets into the Constitution vs. Galaxy thing...
...where you'll have the D7 folks vs. BoP folks.
At least in the KDF we have the T5 D-7/K'T'Inga. I know it means less now with the advent of T6 but at least we still have a TOS ship playable at endgame levels. The Feds and even the Roms can't have their TOS-era ships at endgame.
"After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing after all as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true. Except for a T5 Connie. That would be f*%#ing awesome." - Mr. Spock

I was thinking. Most BoPs have their warp nacells close into the main hull, what if that's what the are? The intakes being the bussard collectors?

I does have a resemblance to the Kumari, but the main hull and wing configuration really isn't that different from the Qin or Pach.. aside from the wingtips obviously being cannons instead of nacelles. It kind of makes me wonder if these will be 5/2's.
I actually don't mind the look/shape of it overall though. Even though it is a little bit of a departure, the wing shape doesn't actually bug me for once. The wing/nacelle design on a lot of the newer KDF ships have really been bothering me(comically large/plastic toy-looking nacelles, wings that aren't tapered back and/or "blade-like", etc.), but I kind of like them on this ship. The head-on view looks 'Properly Klingon', and I could certainly see Klingons engineers coming up with( and captains flying) a ship that carries this kind of profile.
My Delta Recruit has been enjoying the Qib a LOT more than I was expecting, but I was still planning on stuffing them into a Mat'ha eventually. We'll have to see how this new ship stacks up to it; I know I do prefer the shape of this new ship more.
The reason you can damn near guarantee its a Raptor and not a BoP
Becuase it means cryptic can be mostly lazy in the code area and port the boff/console/weapons layout directly from the fed ship which was undoubtedly done first., then they just fiddle with the hull and shields a little, add a standard cloak and walla, a fed escort becomes a kdf raptor.
Sad really, I know it means less work for the devs overall but a little more variety in the factions wouldn't hurt. Also someone needs to slap gecko and tell him to do his job, not just what he wants to do (based on his previous comments that what he does, what he wants not what's good for the game/players.)
All that said, the flying bridge on the front is reminiscent of kdf battlecruisers, I actually would not be surprised if this ended up being some sort of light battlecruiser
Personally I think both are destroyers. 'Fast Attack Destroyers'
I think they will have more in common with the the Chel Gret than escorts, raptors or bops.
They will have lower slightly lower hull than the Chel. It will come with an Augmented Structural Integrity Field Console. Nullifies 33% of incoming damage; Absorbs 33% of incoming damage, to charge a dimensional capacitor, which when full (25K), will over-stimulate your shields producing a 1-time lance like weapons to any target within 15 km, OR, a FAW V barrage to anything within 5 km. 5 min recharge.
I believe the Fed will likely be a science variant. With the Pilot and Intel seating. The KDF will go engineer, 'because it will &^%$ off more people.
4/3 weapons loadout, with some sort of fixed, faction-specific energy cannon/array hybrid weapon thats 360, that has a weird [proc] that activates only in the presence of AP, a package of proton bursts which triggers a massive p/AP detonation 20% of the time. Think 360 cannon/beam that hits like a photon torpedo. Make up a twisted game mechanic that require 1 tactical console of each energy type used (faction, AP and P).
The ships start with 2 Tac consoles slots. The Fleet variant has the third. And the only way to get a tactical console with proton damage is from a new fleet holding - The BattleStation (which has the same development costs as the Dilithium Mine before said consoles are available). This time you choose where within faction space it goes, placing them near ANY major fed, rom or kdf colony. Your personal map will show every new installation in some trippy real-time image which will strangely NOT impact lag issues.
Oh and ANY fleet mate can start one. Regardless of rank. You can have more than one Battlestation, but limited to the number of stars on the map. The consoles can only researched when every battlestation is at Level 3.
While it can not only take damage AND inflict it, these 'Fast Attack Destroyers' are set apart by their ridiculous in game speed and maneuverability. Based on Dominion-designed RCS, these ships have the same maneuverability as the latest generation Jem'Hadar Strike Vessel at nearly double it's size.
The reasons for this are all too simple. The Heralds, blessed with Elite-level hull and shields, AND weapons that seem to ignore your shields 80% of the time, also have a 1-shot kill device. This device is poorly designed (by the devs, not the Heralds) A single massive white 'dot' flares out of the vessel, thanks to it's 360 degree arc, takes 40 seconds to hit and kill you.
The period between 'Fire' and 'Hit' develops it's own meme.
Long Queues. Big Lag. Slow Death. #STO
The Devs will feign mock hurt.
Lastly these ships will come with a feature built-in 'Hull Mimicry' Holo Generator which when active will convert the shields to a near perfect mimicry of any nearby ship or ship you own. Opponents will see you as a friendly, and you can look like any damn ship you want.
If it's not a raider, it certainly takes what are traditionally Raider design cues; wingtip-mounted cannons and war nacelles flush on the secondary hull. In fact the only thing that doesn't look raider-ish is the Vor'cha style command module.
Which probably means it's a Raptor .
OTOH, I am actually slightly relieved. If the KDF pilot ship was indeed a BoP, then it would probably have meant (with normal Cryptic copypasta) the Feds and Roms getting a T6 raider as well. Which could have made sense for an upgraded Defiant, but still...
If it has battlecloak and a turn rate better than 16 I will buy the kdf new raptor even I know that the new fed escort will turn better ,have better shield ,less crew, more inertia (and the list can continue).
Pvp-ing as other faction than fed is ineffective in this game due to specific and OP perks (reciprocity+battle, best escort type ships in game are fed) so probably i will buy it only to play once or twice the new PVE maps they will introduce in season 10 then dock it while I will expect a new FE/event/something.

i hope our eyes are playing tricks on us and the pilot ship is a BoP.Because if it isn't, "disappointed" wouldn't even begin to describe it.

Raptor... Probably take a pass. BoP, here, take my damn money. Fed or Romulan... Not interested.
That model DOES however have some very BoP looking wing canons.
Was hoping for a T6 defiant but hey looks like I may just get the new galaxy instead tbh.
The first rule of fight club is?
I was thinking. Most BoPs have their warp nacells close into the main hull, what if that's what the are? The intakes being the bussard collectors?
