I only do shuttle missions reluctantly if i really have to.
The ships weapons on them are awful and they suck.
Cryptic, how about improving all shuttles. At least 3 weapon slot on the front and at least 2 on the back. Also needs to be fully equipped with all consoles like the big ships do.
Maybe this will never happen but i think it was worth mentioning it.

That is ridiculous, Shuttles don't have the equipment of "Big ships" because they are not starships they are small craft. they do not have room for all the equipment carried on starships.

I once thought like you but recently found a way to make them work. This is why omni beams were added. I got to say any 2 omni (yes even the white shuttle ones) with a beam fire at will just gets things done.
Float like a butterfly. Sting like a bee. As the Greatest of All Time used to say.
Used to be part of the Fleet which did as many Ques as possible or allowed in shuttles. Shuttles are not supposed to be like the big ships. Giving shuttles a 3/2 weapon layout and more console slots is inviting Cryptic to monetize them more than they already are.
Shuttles aren't supposed to lumber up to the side of a Tac Cube and start blasting away with eight or so Mega-Oblivion Quad Heavy Cannons Mk XX/Platinum(Laugh while you can. It's coming).
I like 'em just like they are right now. Yeah, they are very twitch-play oriented compared to the rest of the ships in STO. Even Escorts and BoPs. Yeah, I sucked when I first started learning to use them. But even though the learning curve is pretty steep compared to say, a Scimi, shuttles are learnable.
A six year old boy and his starship. Living the dream.
They could use some more boff seats, but weapons are fine as is. In particular spec seats would be nice, I'm thinking Peregrine = Pilot, Delta Flyer = Intel, and Runabout = Command.

Shuttles are frickin' fun. Best shuttle content so far is the shuttle weekends. Nothing like seeing 20 shuttles swarm around enemy ships in a Fleet Alert.
Dust off the Star Fox music of your choice or something appropriate to add to the feel.
BTW... I just ran the Vault mission on my Delta Recruit with a shuttle I never flew before, the Type 10. Slapped the Thoron console from the Stalker fighter and the Tetryon-Plamsa engines from the Yellowstone on her, along with a Grappler from an NX...
Only thing missing was my Wide Angle Quantum Torpedo.

what you want dynametric, ultra dynamic contours, with 8 torpedo tubes, 60 phaser banks and a full of battle cloak and a enough hull and shields that would take everything on sb24 and not even strach the shielding for hours, mostly because of how good the shield is in hitpoints but also the insane regeneration and no bleed through.
this isnt a extra dimensional fantasy. shuttles are not meant for combat, they are meant to "shuttle" people from one place to the other, the shield and weapon systems are tere strictly for defensive purposes, not that it matters much to a larger target.
T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW. Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.
Fleet versions of shuttles would be nice. Additional shield modifiers and power bonuses.

Also named that Type 10 Puddle Jumper.
I too quite enjoyed the shuttle weekend, as many seemed to since I was able to run it on 3 toons to avoid waiting on cooldowns.
I also enjoy shuttles as they are.
They are much more straight forward than starships.
You make some choices to fill the limited boff seats and stick your favorite weapon on it and then just have fun dogfighting.
They are like starter ships but without the mobility penalties.
I would like more shuttle content like the racing track that makes use of the enhanced maneuverability of the craft.
maybe a Star War-esque trench run mission would be awesome.

You don't want a shuttle, you want a battleship!
Shuttles are more ... "I am a leaf on the wind... Watch how I soar" (to quote "wash" from "serenity")
Beta, LTA, CE, Multiple preorder Versions, all Addon Packs except AoY, nearly all KDF/Rom and ~50% of all Fedships, over 25 LockboxShips, Endurer of Atari's "Year of Hell", but...

Shuttles are sufficient. Quick tricks are usage of Aceton Assimilator, point defense console and spatial charges.
Can't find it right now, but there was someone who made youtube content doing delta rising content in a shuttle. If anyone else remembers and has a link to that, please post it here.
This program, though reasonably normal at times, seems to have a strong affinity to classes belonging to the Cat 2.0 program. Questerius 2.7 will break down on occasion, resulting in garbage and nonsense messages whenever it occurs. Usually a hard reboot or pulling the plug solves the problem when that happens.
To be honest though, maybe they should have a redo on weapon slots... more than anything because it just doesn't seem right that they're all identical. Feels, to me at least, that Runabouts should maybe have an aft slot and be, overall, the Cruiser of shuttles; Fighters all fore; and basic Shuttles balanced between the two.

For me the trick to making shuttles fun was to use missiles.
I have a friend who's shuttle has more abilities on it than his ship has boff skills, sadly I don't have that much lockbox stuff, I just put turrets on my Peri and have done with it.

On my delta Flyer that exactly what I do, but it's not all lockbox stuff, some stuff is. But that show you take advantage of the shuttle. To get the most out if it the consoles are all clickable abilities like point defense turret or singularity rift. However what's really fun is three items you can get to really add more to the shuttle. The engines from the Yellowstone come with an eject warp plasma, the deflector from the aeon time ship comes with a disruptor blast, and the Ferengi shuttle comes with a shield dog reduction ability. Those items are special shuttle only items.
Differentiate more between the existing types of shuttles/fighters,
Shuttles don't compete with starships anymore anyways, they're only good for two episodes, the race and two queued events, so they could easily give them more depth.
Give them more weapon slots (only usable by "S"-type weaponry for example), a bit more variation as far as boff-skills are concerned (perhaps no normal boff-skills, rather than special "Pilot"-skills similar to current "Command"/"Intelligence" Boffs), restructure weapon hardpoints and animation (e.g. cannon bolts are currently as big as the whole shuttlecraft) etc...
Currently, they're just T1 ships with a bit more maneuverability and less hull. Boring as hell and even unrealistic: we're currently mounting the same phaser banks on a Type II shuttle as on a Galaxy-Class starship.
why worry, there is only a few times you really have to use them so after that dont bother with them if you dont like them, apart from the optional pve que mission there is no need to ever use them again.
having said that there are a few omni directional weapons with 360 degree fireing arc out there that make rear wepons unnecesary, after that the only missions you will use them on only require 2 weapons in any case.
When I think about everything we've been through together,
maybe it's not the destination that matters, maybe it's the journey,
and if that journey takes a little longer,
so we can do something we all believe in,
I can't think of any place I'd rather be or any people I'd rather be with.
