Ellen: I'm sorry to interrupt sir but you should see this.

*Ellen hands Kran a PADD which he looks over. With an obvious look of concern on his face he looks back at the viewscreen.*

Kran: Captains, please join me in the conference room of the Umbra.

Sirius: Very well, I'll be on my way. (he said before channel was closed)

*Then he turned towards Daniel and asked him about ship's status.*

Sirius: Are the repairs complete chief?

Daniel: Yes, everything is done. All the damage has been repaired and all systems are at 100 percent operating efficiency, even the quantum-slipstream drive.

Sirius: Very nice. (gets up from the chair and turns towards Andorian female) Number One, you are going with me.

Lissan: Yes, captain. (stood ups from her chair too)

Before they've both left in the turbolift Sirius approached his Vulcan tactical officer and said: Mrs. T'Luminareth, bridge is yours.

    T'Luminareth: Aye sir.

*It took them about 2 minutes to get to the nearest transporter room. Once they were inside Sirius nodded to a human transporter officer and stepped with Lissan onto transporter pad.*

    Sirius: Energize!

*Moment later they've been both teleported to Umbra's transporter room where a young woman was waiting to greet them.*

The reason I'm telling you this is because the temporal anomalies in the nebula look like they may be stable and large enough to allow for time travel. Before leaving Umbra's transporter room Sirius said: Thank you Mrs. Page. We're glad to meet you. Please lead the way.

Sirius: Interesting. I already have some experience with temporal anomalies so that could be a reason why Admiral Hammond sent me on this mission. About one year ago, we were exploring the anomaly near Azure nebula when several of my bridge officers including me were almost trapped inside alternate timeline in which Tholians were in cotrol of Tau Dewa sector, while Dominion has conquered the rest of the Alpha quadrant, after Federation was defeated by Klingon Empire. We barely got out alive, and all thanks to the crew of USS Enterprise C and a temporal vessel from 29. century. So yeah, that would explain why my crew and I were given this assignment.

*Captain of USS Ranger was next to speak*

Sirius: Indeed. We should investigate those anomalies and if we can, find a way to deal with them, before something bad comes out of them. However we will have to keep the nebula off limits until we are done with investigation and once we figure how to remove those disturbances.

Kran: Indeed, as would most of us. However, like I said earlier, there is a possibility of them being stable enough. We only have long range scans after all.

Kran: Ah, but you are forgetting the Temporal Prime Directive. We are not to interfere with other timelines. Simply sending a probe could irreversibly damage another timeline just because it was there. While I agree it makes defending our own timeline more difficult, we have no right to interfere in someone else's. Now, if there are no further questions, shall we get underway?

Sirius: Yes, I understand that, but this is why I mentioned that we can modify probe with cloaking device. And if it is necessary we could be able to modify it with interphasic cloaking device to make sure we don't disrupt anything at all. Either way, I think we should get moving as I'm eager to see what we shall find.

Jack: I see what the Admiral is saying. So we will just be observing our side, cataloguing them and mapping the nebula. Ranger is ready to start.

    Kran: Any sentient life?

Tort: Only on the northern continent and only in small tribal pockets. There is however an... odd reading on the southern continent.

    Kran: Odd how?

Tort: It appears to be an energy signature. Definitely artificial and too advanced to be something the native population crated.

Kran: Hmm... It may be time to get out feet wet. Hail the Dragonstar and Ranger.

Comms Officer: Aye, Sir. Channel open.

*The I.R.W. R'Kota dropped out of warp*

Nine: Commander, three Federation starships are in orbit and conducting scans.

T'rela: Just as we expected them to. Open a link to the Raptor Star, Subcommander.

*Nine walked to her console. After a few seconds, communications with the Raptor Star had been established*

T'rela: Jolan Tru Commander Ramek. I take it you have spotted the three Starfleet vessels currently orbiting the planet?

Ramek: Indeed I have. We jumped to cloak as soon as our long-range scanners picked them up. Due to these precautions, we were unable to finish our analysis of the object. What are your orders?

T'rela: Send me everything you've got. After that, your orders are to set course for the Dovinion system. We heard rumours of growing tensions between several Kazon factions. I'd like you to investigate and use the situation to our advantage.

Ramek: Understood. I.R.W. Raptor Star will report to the Dovinion system and spread tensions amongst the Kazon factions. In case you need assistance, we will remain available for backup.

    T'rela: Excellent. Good luck Commander.

*As the channel closed, sensors showed that the D'deridex left the system. The Mogai was now on her own, together with three Starfleet vessels.*

T'rela: Centurion Chivak, can you intercept their communications? I would like to know what Starfleet is going to try to do. If anybody needs me, I'll be in my ready room.

*T'rela walked into her ready room. She sat down behind her personal console and accessed it. It didn't take her long to find the file that the Raptor Star had sent to her. The findings were.... interesting to say the least. While she was reading, thoughs about the task at hand began to enter her mind. Knowing Starfleet protocol, they would continue to conduct planetary scans, while beaming down an away team. Safety had never been the strongest side of their approach to something new. It was good for T'rela though. As long as their scanners would continue to scan the planet, they would not search for the Tal'Shiar warbird that was in the perfect position to do considerable damage to the task force.*

Jack: Nizure, what do we have?

Nizure: Class M planet, plant and animal life signs. There are indications of intelligent life forms on the northern land mass in small scattered groups. I would like the anthropology department to start initial studies.

Jack: Anthropology department. You mean Ensign Lee?

Nizure: I assigned him a couple technicians.

Jack: Well if our anthropology department has been increased by 300% we should use them.

Nizure: I am also getting a energy reading on the southern land mass. I am having trouble making out the source.

Shelana: Someone else using the planet as a base perhaps.

Toechena: Captain, the Umbra is hailing us.

    Jack: On-screen.

    *receives Admrial's message*

Jack: looking forward to it sir. My away team and I will meet yours on the surface. *as the channel closes* Shelana, Nizure, Sllegi, and Cilly. Gear up and meet in transporter room 1.

*The five of them soon materialize on the planet. Jack, Shelana, and Nizure in Omaga armor with Cilly and Sllegi in MACO armor. Jack has a Jem'hadar auto rifle, Nizure an Omaga carbine, Shelana a MACO pulsewave / grenade launcher, and Cilly and Sllegi MACO rifles. As well as all carrying side arms. Jack checks his shield generator, pulls it off, smacks it and puts it back on. The others are scanning the area*

Jack: I wish those personal shields would quit doing that.

*Sirius was eating in ship's restaurant with his doctor Jennifer Keller, when suddenly his commbadge chirped and female voice was heard over it.*

Lissan: Captain, we have just discovered populated M class planet. You should check it out.

Sirius: (wiping food leftovers from his mouth with a napkin) Alright, I'll be on the bridge in a minute. Sirius out.

    *Then he looks towards Jennifer*

Sirius: Well, if you'll excuse, but as you heard...

*Before he could continue, Jennifer interrupted him.*

Jennifer: It's fine captain. You just go ahead, I'll finish the rest of it. (takes plate from Sirius')

Sirius: (getting up from his chair) Very well then. This was nice. We may do it again sometime.

Jennifer: (with a brief smile on her face) Sure, anytime you want sir.

*Sirius nods to her while returning smile and after that he walks out from the restaurant and heads to the nearest turbolift. Three or four minutes later he arrives on the bridge.*

Sirius: Mrs. Miyazaki, what do you know about the planet?

Scarlett: (reading information from her console) It is a typical M class planet with covered mostly with oceans and rain forests. It also contains small populations on the northern continent grouped in small tribal pockets. However, there appears to be some kind of an advanced device on southern continent which is emitting strong energy signature.

Sirius: (with a surprised expression on his face) What kind of energy signature?

Scarlett: I don't know that yet. Perhaps we should...

*At that moment Bronar interrupts her.*

Bronar: I'm sorry for intrusion lieutenant, but we are being hailed by Umbra sir.

    Sirius: On screen.

*Just a second later, Bronar switched view of an M class planet with Admirals figure on the bridge of Guardian class starship.*

Sirius: Yes we do admiral and I agree that we should check it out. I'll prepare my team immediately. See you down there. Sirius out.

*After communication was closed, Sirius stood up from the chair and looked around the bridge before addressing his officers.*

Sirius: Alright. Mrs. Endilev, Mrs. Miyazaki, Mr. Sheppard and Mr. Mtoui, grab your gear and meet me at the yacht's docking corridor, we are going down there.

Daniel: Why we don't just use the transporter?

Sirius: Well, I want to have some ''back door'' if that energy reading appears to be blocking teleporter abilities. And besides, we will need some place to stash our equipment in case we don't want natives to find it lying around.

    T'Luminareth: Captain's logic is sound.

Sirius: Thank you subcommander. Bridge is yours.

*Then they all headed for the turbolift. Couple of minutes later everyone was at the docking corridor of captain's yacht and Sirius entered a special code to unlock her doors.*

    Sirius: Hello Blue Star!

Computer voice: Voice recognization complete..., main power online..., control access granted. Welcome back captain!

*Moment later everyone settled in their chairs while Sirius detached yacht from Dragonstar's ventral hull and started navigating her towards the southern continent of the planet.*

    Scarlett: One question captain.

    Sirius: Go ahead Mrs. Miyazaki.

Scarlett: What if someone or something accidentally stumbles upon the yacht while we are investigating that device?

Sirius: Don't worry, I have a solution to that too. (turns his head towards Daniel) Chief, hit it!

    Daniel: Yes sir.

*After he said that, Daniel entered few commands in the console in front of him and engaged yacht's cloaking device.*

    Scarlett: Is that a...

*Before Scarlett could finish her sentence, Sirius interrupted her.*

Sirius: Yes, that is a cloaking device. It was Daniel's work.

Scarlett: But how did you get it? They are so rare in the Starfleet.

Daniel: We didn't. I made it.

*Everyone except Sirius turns towards Daniel who just smiled at them.*

Sirius: That's the reason why I took him as my chief engineer in the first place.

M'Toui: Then why don't we have a cloaking device aboard Dragonstar already?

Daniel: I'm working on that too, but it takes time.

M'Toui: Well work faster then. It could be very useful during battles. Especially now, with rising Iconian threat.

Sirius: Give man a break M'Toui. I'm sure he will finish it before we'll have to deal with Iconians.

    Daniel: I will, don't worry.

*Few minutes later, Sirius landed the yacht approximately ten kilometers from unknown device.*

Lissan: Didn't you said that we wouldn't have to walk for too long since you equipped the yacht with cloaking device, sir?

Sirius: It is just a precaution. And no, we really won't have to walk that much.

Lissan: Then how we are going to get there?

Sirius: Just follow me and you'll see.

*After he said that everyone followed Sirius to a lower deck of Blue Star captain's yacht.*

Sirius: (pointing with his right arm at vehicle which heavily resembled 21. century armored personnel carriers, just in much modern fashion) Behold! An armored replacement for Argo buggies.

    M'Toui: Impressive!

Scarlett: Indeed. It looks like we won't have to walk after all.

Sirius: And we'll be protected from any hostile creatures this planet may be inhabited with.

Daniel: Yes, that's comforting. I can't imagine how easier would it was if we had one of those on Nimbus III. We wouldn't have to deal with those damned worms or scorpions.

Lissan: Yes, that was rather unnerving.

Sirius: Alright, that's enough talk I think. Take any kind of equipment you might need and get in. I'll start the engine.

Daniel: I'm sorry sir, but would you please let me drive this time?

Sirius: Alright, but only if you will drive fast enough like I do. (smiles)

Daniel: Don't worry captain, I'll give my best shot. (smiles back to Sirius)

*A few seconds later, armored vehicle came out of a cloaked yacht, like it appeared out from a thin air, and yacht's rear door closed behind it. It took them about 10 minutes to reach their destination. About 300 meters away from the device, Sirius spoken.*

Sirius: That's far enough. We don't won't anyone to see us coming in this. Park it in the three line, out of a sight, and cover it with the camo netting from trunk.

*Daniel did just as Verax said to him and soon after they were walking towards what appeared to be some kind of a circle on top of ramp.*

Sirius: (puzzled and surprised by the sight just like the rest of his team) What the hell is that?

*The intercom bleeped. T'rela pressed a button.*

    T'rela: Yes?

Nine: Commander, we have detected transporter signals and a shuttlecraft going for the object. Your orders?

T'rela: I will execute Infiltration Protocol 37-Selan. Maintain orbit, and make sure you keep a transporter lock on me at all times. Stand by for further instructions. That will be all, Subcommander.

*After closing the channel, T'rela opened up the vault in her ready room. She redressed herself in the damaged Republic uniform she had stored for special occasions. She then took the Emergency Personal Transporter Mk II, a design resembling the device used by Starfleet officer Data during the Shinzon Incident. She used it to beam to the air about 3 meters above the surface of the planet, falling the last three meters. From the snapping sound and the excruciating pain, she knew that she broke a leg. Meanwhile, she heard a vehicle approaching. She crawled under a few leaves, and began to shout*

    T'rela: HELP! I NEED HELP!

OOC: These events would have taken place just moments before you would reach the location from where the energy signatures emerge.

*As the channel closes Kran gets up.*

Kran: Tort, Menz, your with me. Ellie, you have the bridge.

*Ellen takes the captain's chair as Kran, Tort, and Menzukat take the turbolift to the transporter room. They beam down closely behind Jack. The Reman Science Officer immediately begins scanning the area.*

Kran: Hello, Captain. This is Tort, my Chief of Security. And this is Menzukat, head of the Alien Technology Research Division aboard the Umbra. Is all of this gear really necessary? The indigenous population is on the other continent and I would think a hand phaser will suffice for any wild animals.

OOC: Kran and Menz are both armed with hand phasers and Tort has a modified hand phaser as well as a d'k tahg.

Sirius: What the hell is that? (looking at the unknown circle shaped object that was about 200 meters from them now)

Before Sirius and his away team could go any further they first saw teams from Ranger and Umbra teleporting near them and a moment later they heard someone crying out for help.

Scarlett quickly rushed to an injured Romulan: Here, this should do it. (injects her with hypospray containing painkillers in the neck) However, you should get your leg readjusted by a real doctor and I'm not the one.

Lissan: Couldn't we just get her to our vehicle. We have proper equipment there.

Sirius: Yes, we could do that, but let me speak with admiral and captain of the Ranger first.

*Sirius then approaches to Admiral Kran and Captain Ranger.*

Sirius: It's nice to meet with you again. (then he points with his head at each of his officers) This is my first officer, Mrs. Lissan Endilev, my chief engineer Daniel Sheppard, my science officer Scarlett Miyazaki, and last but not least, my head of security Lieutenant M'Toui.

*When they all introduced to each other, Sirius started asking questions.*

Sirius: So, what do you think about my first officer's suggestion. Should we get this woman to our vehicle so we can adjust her leg? And who should stay here to guard that device while we are away?

OOC: Ok, I hope I got this right. Anyway, my officers are fully armed and protected with body armor and personal shields. Sirius have phaser assault rifle, two phaser guns and combat knife. Lissan is armed with her special Andorian phaser rifle, Andorian phaser gun and a pair of Ushaan-tor's. Daniel is armed with phaser assault minigun and a retractable sword. Scarlett is armed with the Borg prosthetic and dk'tagh, while M'Toui has his disruptor rifle and bat'leth

Sirius: (whispers too) From what I've learned about Tal'Shiar, they never operate alone. So, my first suggestion would be that our ships should do a full scan of immediate area and planet as well. You should also do a tachyon sweeps for cloaked ships.

Jack: I agree. She has a ship somewhere, but active scans for cloaked ships will tip our hand. The real question, at least in my mind is, why is the Tal'Shiar here. I doubt they just followed three Federation ships mapping a nebulae. I would bet she knows something about that structure there. Getting that info from her is the trick.

Kran: Remember, if this is the Tal'Shiar we're dealing with, questioning her will be almost useless. I think we should establish that she is in fact Tal'Shiar first. I'll go ask her a few questions. You two stay here for a bit. We don't want to arouse suspicion.

    Kran: What's your name?

OOC: I just need to establish that Kran is in his late 40s and has been on so many diplomatic and under cover missions that he is almost impossible to read.

Kran: Fleet Admiral Kran Su, captain of the USS Umbra and leader of this expedition. Yes I am wondering why you are out so far. The Republic was suppose to let us do an initial map of the nebula. I'm also wondering why you didn't show up on our scans for sentient life. You would have been the only one on this continent.

T'rela: Nice to meet you Admiral. You ask some very good questions, very good indeed. Ofcourse I'll answer them. Lets start with why I didn't show up. Let me grab something out of my pocket, it isn't a pistol.

*T'rela grabbed in her pocket. What she got out was a small, triangular device, with a brownish color.*

T'rela: This is a Hirogen Personal Dampening Field. It shields the user from planetary scans. Ofcourse, a tricorder can still pick you up and make a thourough scan, the way you determined that I broke a leg. They probably use them to ambush people, all part of what they call the hunt. I usually despise Hirogen, but I can thank them for this device.

*While telling, she already began to think about the Dhelan Warbird she ambushed and destroyed near the Gallahin system. She knew that some specific actions, such as that fight, would eventually pay off.*

T'rela: Now, as to what I'm doing in the... nebula, you said? Would that be the Cha'Tok or the Golian Nebula? Ah well, it doesn't really matter. Let me tell you how I got here.
When ships were being prepared for Operation Delta Rising, I managed to get a position on board of the R.R.W. Temer. You see, I am an archeologist, but haven't been able to actually do something useful back on Mol'Rihan. Too many archeologists, you see? So I figured that an assignment to the Delta Quadrant would give me plenty of history to study. And for two weeks, I did.
Then it became obvious that I picked the wrong ship.
Somewhere in deep space, the Temer got intercepted by a fleet of Vaadwaur ships. Although the captain fought bravely, we were no match. After shields and engines had been destroyed, with most weapons under... they call them artillery barrages, don't they? Anyway, they boarded our ship. Shot most of the crew, captured those that could be useful to them. Their leader, he was beyond anything I had ever seen. His strength, his resistance to plasma fire.... it was horrifying.
So I got captured. The Vaadwaur commander, an evil man by the name of Tral, forced me to scan sites throughout the quadrant. This planet was the last assignment he gave me.
When we beamed down, he started talking to his communicator. His eyes grew larger and larger, and then he looked up. I did the same. The series of blue explosions ripping across the sky was obvious. Only seconds later, Hirogen hunting parties beamed in. It was a mess. I got shot at, and although it didn't hit me, I fell of a rock and... well you can see my leg yourselves. There was a dead Hirogen there. I picked up his PeDaF, as I started calling them, and started to craw away from the fight.
I must have crawled for hours before ending up here. I activated the device, to ensure the Hirogen or the Vaadwaur wouldn't come looking for me. And then I simply waited. I could die, or be found. I was ready to die, Admiral. Do you know how that feels like? How you feel when you made peace with the fact that you are drawing your last breaths?
Fortunately, you showed up, and here we all are.
Now, if I can make a request, do you have anything to eat? I haven't eaten anything decent in a day, just plants, plants, and more plants.

*T'rela was thinking while telling the story. They suspected her Tal'Shiar being. Ofcourse they did. A lone Romulan away from everywhere, telling a story that is incredibly hard to backtrace. They only needed to access the file on the Temer. Indeed there had been an archeologist named T'rela on board that ship. Just her fortune. And there were no traces left of the Temer. A singularity implosion tended to do that job pretty effectively.
However, in the unlikely scenario they would actually continue to look for signs of Tal'Shiar presence, they would not find it. T'rela never got on file with the Republic or Starfleet, because the one time she was captured, the ship did not survive to transmit the file.
And ofcourse they wouldn't find the R'kota. That cloak was years beyond anything the Republic had developed. It wasn't on Scimitar levels yet, but who would take the patience to keep scanning areas only a hundred meters apart? And even if they did that and somehow managed to get close to the R'kota.... flying away was so easy. No, she had full confidence in Subcommander Nine. These men would never be able to proove their suspicions.*

T'rela: Now I am not sure of what exactly happened. I just know that there were big blue explosions, followed by Hirogen beaming down. Maybe the debris fell to the planet? Maybe the Hirogen took it as a trophy? I am not worth much with space battles, Admiral. I am just another archeologists. Maybe someday I get to dig up debris here?

*T'rela had activated her communicator. The words were send directly to the R'kota. Nine beamed several spare parts into space, knowing full well that the starships didn't scan space yet, just the planet.*
