One of my favorite memories from back then was the first anniversary. Watching everyone flail around in the fountain outside of Quinn's office made me laugh the entire time. Sadly I lost my pics of that when my old PC blew up or I'd post them.
On a unrelated note: I suggest to officially rename the STO forums to "Buzzkill convention center".

I'm wondering how many people in this thread is just joking about being mad over it. I pray all.
WHAT??!!! ABSOLUTELY NOT AM I JOKING...
This is an outrage... irresponsible... I want Craig Zinkievich's number IMMEDIATELY! My lawyers are on their way to Cryptic's headquarters right this instant. Why if you figure how much I've spent on this game per year it averages out to almost FOURTY DOLLARS PER YEAR!!!!11!1 I simply will not stand for being personally assaulted by this ILLEGAL act of hate towards me as a paying player of this game.
I DEMAND to have everything I want, past present AND future transferred over to the new redshirt holodeck server IMMEDIATELY before you wipe the servers and and destroy my years of work and monetary investment.
You know...to be honest, if you bring our data from Holodeck over-pending that this isn't a joke-with the way that you got it looking in them screenshots...I would actually not me complaining. Fact I left the game cuz the server was just too discombobulated and slow. A redesign-possibly retirement-may be in order. I'd come back for this.
That's a really good name for 'General Discussion'.
I'd pay Zen to make it happen :P

Dude chill, its the 1st of April... They decided to prank us again, after the release of Delta Rising
This is great fun looking at those pictures from launch.
(But even I don't remember Quinn's office looking like that, I wonder if it was from Beta- : )
Well done Cryptic, looking forward to the Delta Recruit event-
Chris
Yeah, that's how Quinn's office looked early on. They later changed it to the second version and then that office was then reused as T'nae's current office on SB39.
Thing is... This is an April Fools but if you were serious I wild actually be happy. It was a simpler time and the game was more fun. It was more visceral, more engaging. Sure it was scruffy looking and lacked content, but it was a better 'game'...
In my opinion his is a little bit of a backfire.
You would really spend 15 $ a month for the original Star Trek Online build?
You must not be one of the people that is always complaining the game needs more bug fixes. No version of STO needed more bugfixes than the release version. No version of STO needed more content than that.
No version of STO needed better game models than that one.
No version of STO needed more endgame content.
Nostalgia is astoundingly powerful.

Quite frankly I'd prefer the skill tree shown in Rebirth to the current skill tree. There are way too many layers of obscurity between builds, the arcane inner math of STO and the end results of one's health and DPS.
The only game I've seen where extreme build complexity could actually be considered a feature is Path of Exile. For all other games, builds should be simple to understand with the utilization of those builds housing the complexity - attack the rear arc over arcane math computing so to speak.
Please, let me spec into Polaron Damage over Star Ship Energy Weapons. I prefer that onlook to speccing.
I'm in... I want to get my 1000 Undine Kill accolade.... in one playthrough LOL
That mission reminded me of the TOS episode where the planet was overpopulated everyone was standing on top of each other. I remember seeing Undine up on each others shoulders like they were a bunch of cheerleaders...
And the coin flippers... ahh the good ol' days. I still have a force field key in my inventory
Yeah, it has to be an April Fool's joke, but you know what....maybe they should turn the Redshirt Server into Old Holodeck, give us an opportunity to see what was, especially for all those new players who don't know how much as changed.
This would be the best thing that this game can happen, since currently there is nothing more unbalanced and broken and filled with bugs that cryptic ignores till they want to implement somehting new that doesnt sell since the old stuff it to broken OP.
I would rly hope the game would restart from strach
YES CRYPTIC THIS APRIL'S JOKE WOULD BE WELCOMED TO HAPPEN SINCE YOU FILLED THE GAME WITH SO MUCH BROKEN STUFF.

You clearly didn't play the old builds. Trust me, it would be worse.
Unfortunatly... this joke is a very big insult to all the PVP players (including those that left the game for all the known reasons)
Well done Cryptic.... "clap"...... "clap"......."clap"........, well done....
The original STO's PvP sucked a**.
I am not sure any more if it was Season 1.2 or Season 2, but it was a later update that actually created some semblance of balance. But fact is, even then, many powers were bugged. It's just nostalgia - even from smart people like mancom - that keeps this up as the old ideal.
No doubt all the console TRIBBLE and set items hurt PVP greatly, not to mention the OP ship additions. But the game was never in a state where PVP was really in a good state. It might have been more enjoyable, but I think that's mostly in hindsight and comparison - back then, there were enough complaints.

Sadly it's not true...
Toi'Va, Ti'vath, Toivia, Ty'Vris, Tia Vex, Toi'Virth: Add Tier 6 KDF Carrier and Raider.
Tae'Va, T'Vaya, To'Var, Tevra, T'Vira, To'Vrak: Give us Asylums for Romulans.
Don't make ARC mandatory! Keep it optional only!
Another April fool's joke!

How joyless can you be? This looks like a fun little distraction.
Dude chill, its the 1st of April... They decided to prank us again, after the release of Delta Rising
It means it has at least 5 more years in the tank!

*whisper* Oh and by the way its a prank for the 1st of April
I had something witty to say, and I lost it at 'buzzkill convention center'. Targ wins the thread.
