cryptic does what it wants, it would claim to be on the players side, but if that were half way true some of the most brilliant ideas some players on these forums have come up with would of found their way on the game and the grind would be a lot less then where it is. but it has never happened.

im not going to go all the way out and state just the negative points though, they do try to correct their mistakes and improve their own quality of work, but how you would define that is upto you.

my experience is generally negative, but i stick around anyway, they are not getting rid of me that easily :P

40 days is the only grind you kinda are forced to do, 1 time on your main toon. 20 days on your alts.

Otherwise for dilithium, 10 KDF toons farming Maurading assingments, while your playing your main.

That is it. EC is in the RnD system.

Game is easier then ever to make fundage in, and its about the right difficulty to have an actual challange. :D

I really don't see what the big deal is. Every MMO I've played has always had some issue with a new patch or update, even with some of the most intense screening not everything can be streamlined. Technology is great until it isn't, and even some of the biggest names in the Electronic industry as a whole have issues with new releases. *shrugs* It happens guys, just let them do their jobs and when it's back up we'll know.

Very true, but I don't think ive played a MMO that patches every week.

    Hello, players, fans, etc;

I have never bothered posting in these forums yet, but I have frequently been amused by reading them. As a long time Star Trek fan, I wanted to wait until this game had reached a polished maturity before joining it. I started in January this year. Clearly, my wait was pointless.

People wouldn't moan if Cryptic wasn't so... how do I put this nicely? Incompetent.

I've never played an MMO, F2P or otherwise, with this many frequent problems.

This quotation seems to nicely sum up most of my thoughts so far. Granted, I haven't been around for years of it like some of you apparently have, but I am not overly impressed. I've spent a fair bit of money so far, to thank those who did the work for the engaging story content that I have enjoyed thus far. I wouldn't go so far as to say that what's happening here would *prevent* me from spending, but it is a little tiresome.

On the one hand, I have to say, those of you who are on here "Demanding refunds", or "Rewards as an apology" are a little out of your place. I hate to say it as a self-proclaimed nerd, but most of you probably need to find more to do with your time. If you are screaming for refunds over the time that was "Stolen from you" to play star trek online, you have an issue that the company's forum moderators are neither qualified nor expected to deal with.

To paraphrase: "TRIBBLE Happens" - You don't demand a refund when you can't play softball because its raining do you?..

That said - Testing around here is clearly not adequate for a commercial project, especially given the player-base here.

As a self-taught programmer and hobbyist for more than 20 years, I will offer the following demystification for some of you - MMO's may seem like amazing new gaming technology, but they are, in fact, client/server applications with very little that is "technically" much different from 80's MUD games. What exists on top of that is a 3d space environment .. the sort that has been literally everywhere since Mario 64.

A game of this magnitude and with this many players is no small feat, to be sure, but properly testing your product and debugging it *before* release day is not a new concept, and ought not to be taken so lightly.

I frequently imagine that the "Company" running this game, must be a few young people with a basement full of servers, laughing every day at how much they are making. No offense. If I had license rights to Star Trek, this is about how well it would go... but I don't go around calling myself a "Dev Team", or even claim to be more than one person.

In the end the point is this - If you posted in this thread, I probably both agree with you and find you abrasive.

Checking with them about it still trying to wrangle a good ETA. Account server is letting people get in just fine, now we're moving onto the stall at Character Retrieval.

I wouldn't surprise me if someone hit the delete all character button and that why it can't generate a list.

Seriously people... its broke, they are fixing it. Hows about instead of throwing a temper tantrum, because your digital teet isnt available for you to suck on, you all walk out your front door and enjoy that thing called LIFE.

Acting like its the end of the world of something... if you were my kid, I'd have smacked the sheet out of you already.

Heres an Iidea how about you guys test the update before bringing the server back online for the public, itll save you havibng to hear alot of whining and would show that your competent about your jobs.

Your track record in software development and patch releases must be perfect for you to be able to tell other people how to do their jobs. :)

    Its bad leadership.

A good leader would spot the trouble and have it fixed or replaced.

If someone is not doing their job then they should be replaced its that simple.

However under this leadership its more of the same, they turn in poor quality work and no one bothers to check it and then it gets pushed out for the masses to discover.

I find the leadership, is actually better, lately then in the 3 years i have been playing. Alot of the PATCH notes are ADDRESSING FIXES.... read back on them :D

Now to get that damn raptor in Uma, to not be stuck in the asteroid :D

lets see. 46 posts. why don't you wait till you hit 100 before you judge other peoples reactions. a lot of us paid good cash money for this and they aren't delivering. I believe it isn't unreasonable to give a little back to the paying customers for the inconvienence.

Whilst I agree with the point you're trying to make (if you're point is to get people to stop whining like spoiled children that is), but telling people to go outside and have a life (because staying inside and doing what they love is not having a life apparently), is hardly the thing an adult would say.

I can't wait to see the forum rage when something actually bad happens. Say a corrupted character database and people log in to find no characters in their list, or they are there but entire inventory is wiped including owned ships. Knowing they have backups, and dumping a backup to repair something like that won't matter one bit. The rage would be epic.
