I liken the stability issues, e.g. regular amounts of lag, rubberbanding, disconnects, and the Cryptic STO team's aggressive... almost overwhelming amount of new content over the past 6 months ...to a man who wants to put a new floor on his home...the engineer tells him that his foundation on his home could use some work... but he believes he can add the addition... but any other additions would require repairing the foundation...the man...happy with his new floor... ignores the engineer and finds someone who will keep adding to his home...you can figure out what happens next...
When players experience regular stability issues the common reaction is frustration...to different degrees...frustrated players do not spend money!
If I experience regular rubberbanding for example...why would I spend $30 on a ship that I would not be able to enjoy using?
If I am a new player, why would I spend any money at all if my fundamental game playing is regularly interrupted by stability issues?
In short... new content will not continue to save the game if the foundation needs work...in fact...and no pun indented...you'll find things eventually crashing down...
What's that people say about rats and sinking ships...?
I couldn't put it better myself. In fact, I didn't.
Why do you PEOPLE keep ignoring those of us who have been, for some time now, continuously saying "address the stability issues / bugs before adding new content" despite knowing and openly acknowledging our concerns are valid? Is it so much to ask to make sure the God damned server can actually TAKE a change in the game - RELIABLY - BEFORE adding MASSIVE new content?!!? I am very afraid of what will happen once you try to add this sector space revamp. We are heading very quickly toward a point where you have NO CHOICE but to stabilize the game, because it won't be working AT ALL. That day is coming VERY SOON. Then, your customer count and profits will drop to ZE-RO.
I read this point and completely acknowledge the validity of what he is saying. I think to myself wow if they have to shut the servers down for x amount of days or weeks to make better I will find something new to occupy my time with and possibly not return to STO. that is scary... THEN I READ THIS AS THE VERY NEXT QUOTE!!!!
For a limited time, we will be running a promotion from March 5th at 10:00 AM PST until March 26th at 9:00 AM PST that will provide an additional bonus when opening a Research and Development Pack. The new T6 JemHadar Strike Ship is flying right around the corner, Captains!
either it's fixed, or regional or something, cos i just logged in no problems
SCM - Infected(S) - DMG Out: 11,776,567 DPS: 114,224.70 (28.7% of Team) - Pinky@ukcaptain420 I reserve the right to have a completely different standpoint depending on my mood.
Thats done the trick... do these guys works for Cyptic or did they call them in at short notice.... they got the server back working far quicker than the usual guys.... Cryptic Hire these muppets....
and, now that the game is functioning again, we can rest rather well assured our concerns will have fallen on deafs ears. What's that I hear about a cliff? FORWARD!!!!!
Looks like someone is a fan of Babylon-5, Londo Molari in particular. Hey that's an idea, I'll watch the 5th season of B-5 while the server is being repaired.
Given that they are unlikely to read posts on downtime that is no longer occurring, I am considering starting an ongoing feed on this instability debacle. An ongoing discussion about how idiotic the developers are getting; a running contest for who can put the problem most succinctly and a public ballot begging them to take notice and take this seriously.

Technically it is not a server outage.

I really appreciated this
Yep, I was just able to get back in too. Now I have fifteen minutes until my next CTD.
Game is dying, game over, I am uninstalling.
Yet when you can't access the game due to server issues, it's OH MY GURD! Where is my game. Get it up NAO!!
Just an observation.

I love this! In fact, I am going to post this video to Twitter! Way too funny, man!
The Cryptic server techs just laugh as the hamster rub the bumps on their foreheads.
