It seems they actually want to force everyone to play the game one specific way.
The problem is, they can't really take away the choice from a player. "Either you play the game like we want you to or you don't play at all" The answer is easy... just don't play.

*LMAO* What rubbish...
Right now, the fact that Argala rewards so much XP 'forces' many players to run it, as it is the quickest means of gaining XP...
The changes proposed may actually give people more options to play the game, and remove this sense that they must grind Argala for levels...
Nothing Cryptic have done with this patch is about 'forcing' anyone to play in any play style... Other than diverting people away from the Argala Grind, which was never a healthy and satisfying way to play STO - just look at the number of people regularly whinging about the mandatory Argala Grind that they must do...
This is an improvement that should have been foreseen and implemented for the release of Delta Rising. The reason PvE queues offered TRIBBLE XP before was because they were for max level players. The devs should have understood the need to update them to pay out more XP with the raising of the level cap; instead they shot themselves in the foot with dead queues for four god damn months. But then Cryptic has always been known for displaying zero foresight followed by grudging "fixes" to their mistakes many months after the fact.
I support this change. Herding players into the Delta Quadrant by making the patrols pay double was really low and manipulative. I'm glad that's been sorted out finally.
PvE queues have had their Skill Point and Expertise rewards increased significantly. For most, this is approximately a three-fold increase.
Dilithium rewards for Normal difficulty PvE queues have been increased from 360 to 480.
Thank you. Will this skill point enhancement apply throughout the bank? SP gain from critter kills as well as general reward for mission completion I mean?
In a large number of queues you encounter ground critters which upon killing grand near to none skill points. Considering that general difficulty from space and ground is meant as equal will we also see a adjustment to this discrepancy in the future? Killing a Borg Elite Drone should grand considerable more skill points than killing a Borg Probe in space combat.
These changes should be a vast improvement to your reward experience in Star Trek Online. Although this is the bulk of the changes we have been working on, we have a few more changes planned in the pipeline. We will also be monitoring playtimes, participation and success rates of game content and continue to adjust rewards as needed. We look forward to you enjoying the new improvements and, more importantly, your feedback.
Pleas do, especially the general participation in PvE queued contend is as low as I ever recall during my three years of play time. At the rate adjustments are made there are times where I am under the impression that cryptic has given up on queued contend and would favour players to spend their time elsewhere in game. Unfortunately this is not an option for all of us due to lack of challenging and long term motivating stuff to do besides those PvE maps.

I actually like it a bit - on paper. I like the Tau Dewa patrols and did them anyway, nerfed or not. I enjoy most everything in that sector block. I can't say the same about the Delta blocks. I don't like that the people who enjoy that area get a decrease so I can get an increase. I was hoping more for a "return it to like it was" than a rob Peter to pay Paul deal.
I apologize if this has been addressed, I skimmed quick but really tired and may have missed it. The Dilithium rewards to the first run of regular missions with a lesser amount for re-runs. What about all of us that have already done these missions? Will we get the first run amount on our first re-run of it? If not will we get a reset of our runs so we can get the first run amount? If not will we get automatically rewarded that amount? If not any of the above, that sucks and is punishing us for having done everything already. The same goes for the quality improvements on the first run delta quadrant missions.

Run the missions on a new Alt. Collect the dilithium. Problem solved.
A 30-minute cooldown has been built into the sector doors for patrols preventing player from re-entering the same patrol until this timer is complete. This timer starts after the mission is completed, similar to the cooldowns found on PvE Queues. Patrol completion times vary greatly from patrol to patrol and from player to player. Adding a cooldown times allows us to keep the rewards relatively high, but still keep them normalized and acts failsafe in the event certain loopholes or exploits develop.
This has got to be one of the most dumb facepalm things ever done to this game.
All for normalising XP/SP rewards across the patrols/missions in the game, but time gating even more content? Really? That's without addressing the problems with the other content in the game.
Most STFs will still be channel runs because of the lamentable quality of PUGS. Although you are clearly trying to force people back into the dead queues, it's not going to have the level of impact you hope.
So, how is this new timegate on the patrols going to work for those of us who've been getting fairly regular crashes to desktop after the "gameclient.exe has stopped responding" message pops up? And beyond the patrols, how are we supposed to do the next event (CC) when every time we change maps or hit a "busy" map we have this happen? Would be lovely to finally get acknowledgement of this issue that has been going on since the anniversary event started (and also was around for the early part of WWE but got acknowledged and fixed before we got too far along in that).
i would have preferred an xp buff on non-argala content rather than dragging argala down to a pitiful level of xp. an xp weekend isnt going to hide it from the masses for longer than a weekend...
congrats cryptic, you finally managed to nerf that last bit of almost manageable xp progression from the game.
Run the missions on a new Alt. Collect the dilithium. Problem solved.
Well, lets see, I have 13 characters with 1 free slot (if memory serves), so to equal what I should get, I'd have to run it 13 times. That means leveling that one open slot to max 13 times. Yup, got the time for that. Where as if we get the first run amount on our first re-run I can pick and chose the ones I want to do again.
I don't farm patrols or STFs, so these changes are 100% positive for me.
- A bit of dil while leveling up alts or replaying story missions
- Better rewards for STFs when I play one for fun
- (VERY NICE) a way to get Ancient Power Cells from a solo daily
I've been trying to come up with an appropriate way to respond to this that won't get my post edited for bad language and probably get me banned, but I can't.

"
For me that translates in "XP rewards for PVE queues are comparable to what they were before DR." .
Hmm but after DR difficulty was increased quite a bit why are not the rewards increased after all ? Today is just a restoration not a increase in my opinion
( I have no personal interest in this subject because I stopped playing PVE some time ago
and I have no intention to play them again except on special events )
"There already is a Borg faction, its called the Federation. They assimilate everyone else's technology and remove any biological or technical distinctiveness and add it to their own."

You said all the queued missions are having their xp increased, possibly up to three times more. Which is fine, but my request is...tell us how much for each specific queue.
Don't even need to say all of them, just some, like Borg STFs, the CE, or other popular queues. Give people an understanding of how much of an improvement they will be seeing, instead of keeping everything hidden.
But then you'll take all the fun out of getting stuff like :
"... it's a reporting error ..."
"... you're reading it wrong , there was in fact a huge increase ..."
" ... that's not true at all ..."
... you want the truth ??? ya can't handle da truth ...

Today is just a restoration not a increase in my opinion
Good choice of words there. Restoration of my game standing sadly seems to be what DR is all about and seems to be all what I do Levelling, gear upgrades, crafting, new ships.
Its very sad that it feels that way where it should have felt as progression instead.
Very reason for this is indeed the enhanced difficulty in PvE and the massive nerf to reward that took place at the same time.
Cryptic should have kept pre-DR elite as new normal mode while leaving everything as it is there simply as reference and the well running system that it was. A higher difficulty setting with massively better rewards to justify the players efforts would have done the trick between the difference of restoration and progression for me.
In my opinion the adjustments to PvE endgame felt like 10 steps backward. When we do 1 step forward now again with this patch well thank you Devs but hardly a time for applause on progress.

Hope I'm wrong but I can't see this being anything but the biggest nerf in the history of STO.
Not that it helps , but you're wong .
The introduction of DR itself and the subsequent nerf gala were the biggest successive nerfs to STO which (to me) amounted to STO's NGE .
... and now , one month short of a half a year post DR , we get this ... .
Whoever wrote that whenever Charles Gray makes a post it means more nerfs was pretty spot on ... .
You take a hateful but well rewarding patrol like Argala, a patrol you could earn 120,000 XP per hour on, reduce it's XP to what, 5K ish and gate it so you can only run it twice in the same hour, so that's from 120K to 10K.
This forces players to then travel to other patrols in the game that also reward TRIBBLE amounts but take far longer.
Missions:
Missions found in the episode journal will reward Dilithium for both first time play (a large bonus amount) and replay (a smaller amount).
Skill Point and Expertise rewards for mission replay have been increased (by an additional 25% in most cases).
So let's see now, you are rewarding players for time taken eh? Well missions take far longer than patrols but you are only raising them by 25%, so let's say it take 30 min to run a short mission, you get 2030 +25% = 2537 xp, as all missions give the same XP, even those that take an hour I would hardly say that equates to XP per min, so this completely contradicts what you are saying here: that is, you play for X minutes you will earn Y reward
These changes should be a vast improvement to your reward experience in Star Trek Online
I don't agree, I would suggest this is the final nail in the coffin for this game and you guys have demonstrated with this patch your fundamental lack of understanding of your player base. Hope I'm wrong but I can't see this being anything but the biggest nerf in the history of STO.
A good post Matt.
If you've come to the forums to complain about the AFK system, it's known to be bugged at the moment.
As someone who is working towards the Delta Set but didn't really feel confident of being good enough to contribute to the Elite PvEs to get the Ancient Power Cells, I'm happy with this.
Thanks for ****ing up the Tau Dewa patrol and 50-60 levelling. Appreciate it.
So now it will take even LONGER to level (and get the Romulan mark daily 100), and we can't even do it with the patrols we actually like, we have to do all the ****ty ones we HATE?
HOW THE **** COULD YOU POSSIBLY THINK THIS IS AN IMPROVEMENT?!?!?!?
Are you insane? We complain about how long it takes to level and how unfun the Delta patrols are and you do THIS in response? Do you WANT to drive players away? Are you purposefully tanking STO? That's what you're doing, driving players away. First the T6 nonsense, and all the stupid imbalances, then the ludicrously long spec grind, and now you **** that grind even further.
Whoever made this decision needs to be fired. Immediately. This is the worst decision I've seen in any MMO since the damned NGE. Yeah I ****ing went there.
Its like you don't want people to actually play the game. The whole damned game is waiting for cooldowns now. Doffs, R&D, Reputation, all the dailies, queue cooldowns and now regular levelling cooldowns. Wtf do you expect us to actually DO? Why can't we pick content we LIKE and keep doing it?
All i can say is calm down man cryptic does what cryptic wants and when things go bad we players get blamed .
I agree with you as in it seems they are trying to make players rage quit for what purpose? i for one cannot say.
Personally i loved LoR but DR and the subsequent nerfings , blatant money grabs and timegating has ruined this game the white knights and fanboys will always say everything is fine and they love what cryptic is doing...those are the only people cryptic listens to.
As far the rest of the players who do not agree with what they are doing and are vocal about it we risk getting banned ,ostracized and rediculed for saying what everyone else knows.
Sadly the only thing raging does is bring attention from the mods who will probably silence you for "Flaming/trolling".
So best thing to do man is calm down and go elsewhere for your gaming needs i used to game around 8-9 hours a day now it can be counted in a few minutes to maybe an hour or two.
Ive went elsewhere for actual fun in a game and only log in to put stuff into queue say hi to my friends and log off for the night.
anyways just calm down and go find a game thats funner then this painfull abomination that cryptic has created.

Ok. That's step one. Get Advanced up to 960 dilithium, and we're golden.

True story... but at least they gave a solid effort in spinning all this as a positive.
Oh look dilithium... follow the carrot little minions.
What about ground PVE queues , how will this effect them (if at all) ?
... considering that currently the gaining XP on ground is quite negligible ...
Good job on the sarcasm there.
