I'm all in support of a PvP revamp; but would never want a cookie cutter PvP game. It would be a step backwards for Ground PvP because until Season 9.5 all we had was a cookie cutter system in terms of kit abilities. Ground PvP is also largely balanced (outside of a few intel/command abilities and the elachi kit module). Doing that to space PvP would kill build variety rather than increase build variety.
Ideally our current mechanics need sweeping changes to bring the game back to reasonable levels. Hull damage resistance ratings, raw damage per second, shield resistance ratings, and raw hull/shield healing is all through the roof. Science abilities are so easily resisted and cleansed that they aren't effective and Science damage dealing abilities (TBR and FBP) can rip through non-tanks like a knife through butter. Critical Chance and Severity is through the roof and Surgical Strikes III allows players to kill other players with a single DHC or Beam Array Volley.
It would be extremely difficult to sort through all the current mechanics and re-balance them with PvP in mind. It would also require re-balancing NPCs in PvE; but the meta in PvE is just as bad at the moment due to the fact that NPCs have way too much hull and shields.
Ground PvP and PvE on the other hand doesn't need much to greatly improve the quality of life. Ideally it would be nice to have 44k more skill points so that we could max both our Space and Ground skill trees. In PvE it would be possible to increase the difficulty just by making NPCs smarter about using abilities and firing more often. Right now ground NPCs (and bridge officers) only perform an action once every 1-2 seconds. Meanwhile players can perform actions every 0.25 seconds. We're performing 4-8 actions in the time it takes an NPC to perform just 1 action and that is a huge advantage. As far as Ground PvP is concerned all that really needs to happen is a handful of bug fixes and tweaks to certain kit modules and abilities.
What happens when you get random people at ESD to fight you alone?
Considering how one of them used the plasma burn thing bug to hullburn me to death in seconds, I call it fair winning.
PvP failed in the poll; PvErs can't break their shiny ships, they're omnipotent in PvE. So I went breaking their toys with their "needed" Intel to break through NPCs.
I was using Surgical? Not my problem; what can go worse at this point? Yeah yeah yeah I said "I will never use intel" some time ago. I've adjusted it to "except against PvErs, ESD chat moaning people, T6 ships that are brutally overpowered".
Using Intel to punish Intel, sounds good to me

And I was using the dogfight setup, not the vape one. means EPTS2 instead of EPTW, no battery doff, neutronium slotted, elite fleet shields, undine shield passive.
With the vape setup things would have been much, much worse.

riccardo is OP, pls nerf, it'll help PvP queues a lot
You should have seen PvP event yesterday some guys from 10k DPS channel organized. I joined in full PvE setup, then Hassan and Sherlock in later games. Porch was there too for first 2 games as a PvPer and high DPSer.
Basically a slaughter.
I have it on video so maybe i'll upload it even though its very ugly to see a full hull and full shields scimis and others exploding with one CSV run or neutronic spread or BOs from Hassan and Sherlock. No intel stuff was used or needed anyway.
10k DPS is lowest of DPS channels, but still better then ESD randoms. they are not even at 10% of their ship ability, yet on forums, whoa.

Why I cant never get to slaughter fresh 10k DPSers, I always stumble on TS3 Neutronics...
you could not be more wrong. think of all the time and effort must go into a featured episode. all the environment work, the cut scenes, the voice acting, the COST of the voice acting, all the time it takes to make it actually fun, and what do you get for all that work? a mission thats great fun once, bearable 3 times, and a total drag you click through and resent for being so long wile you run it 3 times per character after that.
do the tinniest thing for pvp, and every single pvp match after is positively effected, forever. you dont have to MAKE pvp content, the players fighting each other is the content. you just have to set up the infrastructure, once, and it self perpetuates after. best part is, literally fixing pvp once and for all would take a fraction of the time, effort cost and manpower creating any new episode would! part of why them doing nothing for pvp is so maddening.
so, this isn't even a mater of opinion, not thinking its a good use of developer time to do the smallest, slightest things to help pvp, is simply wrong.
Someone should staple this to Geko's head.

funny how pvp has been in 3rd place the whole time, when only a fraction of a minority is interested in it. gee, maybe if they actually build it, they will come. thats still a decent % of the player base, and its not like thats a poll of asking people if they are at all interested in pvp, thats people that chose pvp over several other major things.
Wasn't this the mantra of the KDF for years? That didn't work so well for them either.
I wish people would stop parroting this nonesense because it has no basis in reality whatsoever. Cryptic never "built" the KDF, they just keep throwing a bone once in a blue moon. Only hardocre fandom can survive on those bones as a substitute for actual care, that's why the KDF pop has always varied between 15 and 20% these past few years - those are the "diehards".
If you want a healthy population of random players then a faction has to be on the same level as any other faction in order to have the equal potential to draw. No advantages or disadvantages, just different variety and diversity. You know, factions like you can see developed in SW:ToR or WoW.....hell, factions you can see in every major MMO that doesn't have the name "Cryptic" behind it.
So please just stop saying that Cryptic built the KDF, because it's nothing more than PR and brainwashing.
Cryptic won't ever do exploration in STO that isn't just an annoying tireless grind.
and that is what these antisocial pve players deserve.
If you are a antisocial prick who needs a server running for you to play singleplayer grindy TRIBBLE you don't deserve anything fun. This game is exactly what pve heroes deserve.

I have a sweet tooth, so I will accept.

No doubt Cryptic is a failure.
thats a its not the blue faction problem. not even pvp has to bear that cross, its omni faction.
