this game doesn't have an exploration bone in its body. every item, ability and trait is for combat performance. hitting use to scan, or a mini game or 2, is the extent of the exploring you can do in this game. unless they auto generate more terrible content again, they would have to hand craft 'missions' for hundreds of 'exploration' moments, its totally unfeasible.
why is exploration even an option on the list. and they say pvpers are the unrealistic ones. it would take 1/10 the development time to do something of value for pvp, then it would to do anything else on that list.

Can't help but feel that sto pvp is not gonna happen, and cryptic is not serious or even professional in handling of the situation. I'm not gonna hold my breath they will do something pvp related. IMHO PvP is a niche in STO. The grandiose dreams of FFA sectors and the like are a pipe dream. There's simply no money in it for Cryptic/PWE. They want you to spend money buying ships and lockboxes to blow through the next bit of PvE content they provide until they can invalidate your purchase with the next tier of ships.

That is why I was not against the removal of clusters and their Genesis-like random explorations : they were fun when I started this game and I used them like a kind of training and levelling tool but, after a little while, they were more boring than a 1000th ISA.
The excuse for their removal was kind of pathetic but odds are they were useless fat weight for this game, except for the colonization doffing chains which have remained.
That is why I just want to wait and see what SalamInferno has got in store when he talks about "removing" but probably integrating sectors : I was walking through planets to find for a convenient spot for particles and I ended up hailing planets for some fleet action, which is not an stf I guess?

Please god don't let new stupid episodes beat PvP... I know it scares most of the pve heroes in this game to do anything truly multiplayer, but it will really be a sad day if single-player episodes gets more votes in an MMO.

No one else is playing because a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a niche is participating in PvP. That's just how it is. Cryptic has never made a balanced game that works for PvP. IMHO they never will.
pvp was perfectly playable, if flawed, right up till DR. as recently as season 8, pvp had settled into an extremely balanced and varied meta, were a plethora of builds all worked and just about every ship was useable.
cryptic designed this game to be pvp ready from day 1, there is still no reason for sci ships to exist but to be used to debuff other players. half the station powers are useless in pve, and only have value against single high value targets, ie other player ships. at least half the new ships, new traits, and new items only really have value in pvp too. if its not beam arrays and the scimitar, whats it really bring to pve? a great new cannon escort, a tanky cruiser, useless pve ships.
there are literally thousands of pvpers that have left as pvp gradually declined, and those are only the one that can be confirmed for sure, the ones that subscribe to opvp. and what fraction of players that have pvp'ed even subscribe to that channel?
what % of the silent majority would like to give pvp a try if they hear its getting serious work done on it, its getting leaderboards, its getting approachable. how many of those thousands that have left, would return? probably a lot more then you pvp haters would think.

A T5U restricted map would bring back the sanity. The damn specializations and specialization abilities is what screwed PvP.

the mess that was the level 60 HP buff, combined with absurdly powerful mk14 weapons, how heals didn't get anymore powerful, how intel skill buffed the hell out of energy weapon DPS and control, neutronic spread 3, further buffed particle madness now featuring iso cannon, are what screwed up pvp.
specialization grind just makes you not want to play the game at all.

Wrong. PvP in STO was simple but fun before DR, and like DDIS said, it has reached its highest right before RnD and DR. I basically had 6 viable builds that were completely different.
