Here's a little thing that confuzzles me slightly.
What brings you guys back?
Especially with PvP all but dead, barring the special setups going about. PvE being on easy mode, power creep, P2W, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind, grind and did I mention grind?
I see a lot of complaints, issues, bugs on these here pages with no action from the Dev team, in amongst lots of inter fleet bickering.
How can you seemingly hate a game so much yet keep paying into it? Let alone play it?
I myself haven't played for a while, when I did, it wasn't pvp. The only reason I did was for my fleet, see how they are getting on, show face and all that.
For me, that's the only thing that stops me uninstalling permanently.
I don't think television has ever been this bad. If it was tolerable in the least, I'd probably just watch TV instead.
Course, I can't remember the last time I did any PvP...I felt dirty, but I was too lazy to take all the broken TRIBBLE off my ship; so I just stopped doing PvP.
That being said, just had another awesome ISA that was trolled - person faked a d/c - came back...we still weren't as near done as they hoped, so they R-TBR'd the Nanites into the Transformer.
Yeah...it's the players that make STO so special...I imagine if it weren't for the players, I'd probably have been permabanned ages ago for going off on Cryptic. Instead, I get to rage a wee bit here and there at them - so nothing is too massively over the top.
-primary specialization trees take as much effort as grinding a reputation, and getting say 75% of the gear from it
-everything but patrols getting MASSIVE buffs to XP payout, especially npc kills. not only is the xp needed an order of magnitude higher then whats reasonable, the path of least resistance to earn it is literally the most tedious, insulting **** you i have ever seen a developer lay on its players.
-at least $100 needed to upgrade 1 character is absurd, burning ~1000 superior upgrades to do it also absurd. cut that down by a factor of 5 or so and we'll talk.
-doing something about ionic chain stunning, someone besides me needed to notice how the duration of the animation is much longer then the disable is supposed to be, but the animation run time seems to trump any other tuning on the ability.
-removing the crit and acc buff from SS, have it boost DPS the same as CRF, wile keeping the half as many shot fired per cycle.
- remove the damage buff from neutronic spread, dont adjust damage per torp, just fire more of them
-diminishing returns on particle gens to exotic damage, past say 400 particle
-removal of the 50% shield pen from FBP
-DHC energy drain as painful as the energy drain other weapons have (intended to be a slight 5 fore weapon escort nerf)
if they did these things, i'd be the biggest STO and cryptic fan boy ever, and shovel cash at them.
I stopped PvPing a while back. Don't feel like it anymore. I just log in, pop R&D, do the Anniversary daily, during the upcoming dil weekend I'll pop all my T5 rep projects.
Whenever I log in for fun, I just do a story mission or a Foundry mission - then stare at my ship a while, think of something to do, fail, then log off.

Nada really. I am here to get the Anni-ship and the three pieces of equipment that is in the mission: Dust to Dust.
Then I may stick around to fight in Ker'rat but overall the passion has gone away completely.
I had more fun putting 50 hours into Skyrim playing thru as a pure destruction mage for the first time, because I felt it was underpowered the first time I played it thru, than I've had in this game in almost 2 years.
What brings me back?
It's Trek.
But I'm also playing Galactic Civ 3, and fifa15 to pass the time.

You play Fifa H? :P
I play just enough to keep toons in touch, just in case they fix this ****.

Fifa meh.Pro evolution is real deal this year, finally starting to feel like its old golden age ps2 versions.:)Fifa is just overhyped, money milking arcade TRIBBLE.
If this forum had a Rep it would probably cost Dil!
Thanx!
Na, it would have a random drop in an overpriced lockbox but at only a 0.0000000000001% chance of getting. Then it would only activate on a random chance.
What brings me back? Being a part of a fleet that organizes PVP matches almost every day space (most in non-intel ships) and ground (at which I excel); having a group of friends who I can grind Assimilation, Dyson BZ, and Argala with, and who are just fun to hang around with (one time we played hide-and-seek in DS9); saving Dilithium to get my Faeht, and getting my Mk XIII Personal Shield [Reg]x3 [Rev] to epic quality.

Same here too. IMO I loved PvP so much that it hurts to see where this game went. DR killed ot for me.
Whats the use for upgrades, getting all the latest shinies...to do WHAT? PvEs and kill some NPCs who dont care what the heck you using for that? Or to look COOL.. for whom?...my fleet's almost empty and all there are newbies who are clueless than a wall anyway.
Hoping they will fix PvP and nice to see a new EP on STO. That's all its left for me
I stay to take care of it for those who are still wanting to play, and make sure things keep going for it. Most of the people from my fleet don't play anymore, but I stay to keep it running smoothly.
I remain empathetic to the concerns of my community, but do me a favor and lay off the god damn name calling and petty remarks. It will get you nowhere.
I must admit, respect points to Trendy for laying down the law like that.
Why do I keep logging in ? For the grind ! Haha naw just kidding . I log in to look at my Galaxy or Sovereign class, do a quick Dyson ground bg, then log . Can't stand grinding at Argelua anymore . As for pvp, I haven't tried it since they nerfed my 20k shield cruiser .
Well, my fleet and my fleeties, like mimey said. Ive played with them for almost 3 years now, they are the primary reason to continue to play sto. Sincerely, until they'll login, i'll do the same, 'cause it's fun to play in company, even with all these bugs  Since we play on war thunder as well when sto does the "problematic kid" , there is no reason to quit, at least for now :P

This game was a sci-fi MMO that I didn't have to pay for. Plus there's a lot of people in the game I got to know.
That said, I've pretty much had enough now and left for Star Citizens dogfight module. It may still be in alpha, but it's getting deeper and more enjoyable with every update. Matches pop all the time, there's no space magic, no yoyo health, no FBP. A skill base game where a skilled guy in a starter ship can defeat players in ships worth $100 more.

I guess when I get tired to playing War Thunder I log in STO and do some upgrades on my ship.
Then I log off without doing anything.

Now I just get major nerd rage over how much cryptic/PW desecrates star trek.
Bravo on that video.
