I have played this game since S4, ever since that time it's always been "PvP is broken". Yet no where I have ever seen someone say exactly what is broken. In my limited experience with it, there was a time when hardly anyone would die in a balanced match, and that was just boring. What we have now seems pretty good in comparison.
Now you will see someone that states what is broken.
yep, that video is BTW 20mins long and it's filled with evidence. that and 5 other videos on my channel since DR started all show how you can chain stun people with no possible skill to activate, all grayed out treys, one neutronic spread-multiple kills with neutronic torpedos through shields,
TBR that does 15k dmg per tick, Vesta shield that does 140k raw dmg, PRTG boosted to over 600, my ship flying 10km/sec with less then half engine pwr.
KDF side not at all registering in scoreboard, PvP rewards double spec, XP, EC rewards at end,
massive server disconnects that were caused by activation of single power by one player,
ionic turbulence animation that holds your ship even when debuff has ended, plasma burn that does incredible DoT dmg, BOFF skills and treys disappearing and rearanging on the fly, my tac BOFF has 5 skill slots, and on ensign slot it has FAW 2.
Need i go on?
I'm just happy i found escape in exchange and crafting, now it's all dandy.
After all, if Cryptic did fix PvP, what would PvPers have to complain about?
And even a brief survey of the forums (of this and other games too) shows that this is what they enjoy above all else.

I think you are right. Metrics show that players don't like to play if you make playing impossible to enjoy and then they start to complain. Best way is to remove Play part from the Game.
Thanks for the answer and I can for sure see that it would be hard to make foundry missions. The maps part tho seems like it would be pretty simple. Just need a way to allow people to create spawn points for two teams. Giving pvpers the chance to even make some new maps would be a start I would think and could keep them busy for a bit and off the forums for a bit:)

Don't know if Foundry PvP is even possible, but if it is, why not make it even more niche.
this thread as about sarcasm and bitterness.
Now since we see that things are actually changing and that devs want to actually fix some systems :
General:
-UI is mostly laggy and a big resource hog
-big loadout issues
PvP:
where to even start
-scoreboard doesn't list KDF players, mostly incorrect even without that
-powers/levels due to specialization and ships are not balanced, needs matchmaking and custom private games
-maybe some new maps
-ground combat has BIG potential, kobali prime style PvP battlezone with some PvE maps like Defend Rhl'hho Station would be great for ground PvP, for example
-Day/night/weather random conditions would be welcome as well
-Space PvP maps and in general needs big refreshment
Intel skills:
-Ionic turbulence in PvP disables ships completely, chain stunning possible in combination with Viral Torp trait and other Science abilities
-Ships need bigger hull/shield modifiers, or lower weapon/exotic dmg modifiers in pvp
_Surgical Strikes and Override System safeties in combination with Beam Overload's 100%CrtH and very high ACC these days makes these abilities certain kills
but for start even a small acknowledegment of PvP problems and players would be nice.
Nothing will put the last straw on camel in this title like messing with the PVPers. If they make the PVPers grind like we have to, if they make them have to buy things in order to progress like the PVEers if they remove some key elements of fun in the game like those PVP zones you can warp into....I can't imagine anything that would benefit this game more than to have an uprising in both communities, because if that happens, God help the devs! It'll be all over the net on every media site on every video channel etc etc until they can't contain it anylonger!
So let them! It might actually make them change direction when the PR hits the fan.
Frankly I hope they remove pvp from the game altogether. It is not now, nor has it ever been, fun or interesting or worthwhile, in this or any other game.
Well, that is your opinion. Me and many others have another, but you can't be hurt if PvP in STO is good, am I right?
PvP is like a recreational sport, it's competitive, both teams compete to win, and as long it is perceived as such and some rules apply to all it is good fun and interesting.
Even in cooperative PvE part of the game there is a competitive component reflected in people going for Speed or Damage records.
If you remove both of these components from the GAME, there is nothing left, there is no game anymore. You could only log in every 3 months to see if new featured episode is any good.
I doubt anyone wants that.
I still remember the first time I saw the girlfriend playing her Farmerama game...
"Can you raid your neighbor's farms and steal their crops?"
"Can you sabotage your neighbor's crops so you can better control the market?"
"Can you form alliances to get the best farmland?"

...and yeah, well, she just looked at me funny.
I thought CCP still had a NDA on "Garden of EvEden" It hits facebook later this year... but I didn't say anything. lmao
Seriously, though, I'm not a fan (to put it mildly) of farming games and MMOs.
STO is(was) different then regular MMO so i could enjoy its PvP and PvE.
I must emphasize once again, what opportunity and potential developers have with ground combat in this game
Kobali Prime style mixed PvP/PvE real-time battlezone, maps for ground PvP like Defend Rh'lhho Station which is non-linear and big enough. those are things that would be great.
Its ok, we can have farming and MMO RP and a nice PvP system.
BTW for people that are new to the game even PvE queues look empty because most people that are still playing are in few private channels.
I've been playi9ng this game for literally years and never once have I even bothered to look at pvp in any way whatsoever. I log in everyday, I play every day, and I always have something to do. Don't tell me there is no game without pvp, because its a load of bovine TRIBBLE.

WHAT SAY YOU TO THAT BORT????

Now that you mention it there is no option for neither.
Seriously how are they going to add the J'naii with out an other option ?
