Hey Borticus (or any Dev), i was wondering will the new Omega Tech Upgrade Projects remain in the game after the anniversary event has ended? Thanks in advance and keep up the great work!

Curious about this myself. Not so much if starting the projects will be available after the event ends but rather will projects already started be cancelled/aborted when the event ends.
I'd hate to queue up that 20 hour Omega Tech project setup for with a quantity of five (~five day completion) only to have it killed because the event ended. I mean I'd really, really it if that happened.
At the very least, I'd like to see it incorporated with some more special events. When you all do announce it, I'd like to know what Cryptic's take on how successful this promotion was.
Obviously you can't blurt our numbers, but I think it obviously must be successful even though they don't require dilithium, I bet a lot of people are pushing the complete for dilithium button which is basically indirect monitization.

We haven't yet decided. Enough players have asked that we'll make sure that a statement is made publicly when the decision is final.
It would be nice, especially since it's new stuff and helps low-income players, but I say this with the stipulation that after the event, it might make sense to limit Fragment income slightly. Maybe a daily that will give a Sliver's worth a day.
The mini-game (and thus the source of Omega materials) will definitely go away at the end of the Anniversary Event. It may return at some future point, but it's not going to be immediately possible to continue earning Omega traces/fragments/shards.
The undecided question is whether we will continue allowing the refinement of the materials harvested during the events. And if so, for how long.
As I said, we'll let everyone know as soon as the decision is made.

i don't go for those particles, but 2 quick thoughts:
- why something like this isn't determined by the time things are implemented (as it really should be imho)?
- just keep it in to allow everyone to choose themselves what and when to do with. and for the guess it may bothers some in the science school if kept: how about making an "event-school" like for rep-projects?

Because of time-gating, it takes too long to create upgrade kits, even if we can create multiples. It would be ideal, in my opinion, if the refining projects stay after the event.
The Exchange is getting a massive influx of Omega parts. If the projects are removed, parts will stay in the Exchange (or folks will buy them) without a purpose, increasing dead clutter until next Anniversary, or other event that uses Omega particles. Keeping the projects active after the event ends would help economy flow in that front.
Keeping the projects active after the event ends would help economy flow in that front.
I'd like to second that... if the ability to run the projects in the rep school is maintained that would definitely help use up all these materials people have acquired. I have far more mats than I can process and given they are already time gated, adding an "event gate" to the ability to process seems unnecessary.

Given the time-sink nature of crafting the kits (takes more than 24 hours to craft an Omega Kit when going from base red/yellow/blue to kit) could I suggest either leaving them in for several week or moving them into a separate "Event" R&D school that doesn't require leveling like the new BOFF powers school and simply treat it like the stores from the Summer and Winter events - you can only earn the currency/materials during the associate events, but you can make use of them throughout the year.
Making an event school also allows for the possibility of the addition of other event specific crafting projects without cluttering up the R&D schools.
what you guys should do, is leave the projects, and then give any R&D node in a map a very very small chance to spawn as one of these omega particles. Enough that it kind of keeps the projects alive, but not enough to be something you can purposely be running about to gather the materials for...
We recently came to the decision to allow the Omega Projects to remain available indefinitely, after the conclusion of the Anniversary Event.
We will be moving these projects to a new "Special Projects" R&D School in a future patch, so that they do not clutter up the Science R&D School as they currently are. The "Special Projects" School will behave very similarly to Officer Training in that it does not have any projects that reward, nor rely upon, Skill Levels or Research XP.
As stated previously, the Omega Stabilization Mini-Game (and thus source of Omega materials) will go away when the Event is over. But anything you have gathered between now and then will be yours to keep, and continue to refine forever.

This makes sense, works just fine for all concerned. I think this is what most of us were reasonably hoping for, thanks.

Excellent news!
It would be nice if the minigame made an appearance in the future if/and when Q returns, but this is much more than I was hoping for!
The Omega minigame (despite the bugs involved), is nice in that it's a combat-free way to grind stuff that actually helps our progression.

Nitpicking is a time-honored tradition of science fiction. Asking your readers not to worry about the "little things" is like asking a dog not to sniff at people's crotches. If there's something that appears to violate natural laws, then you can expect someone's going to point it out. That's just the way things are.

This is a good decision devs.... lets keep rolling this kind of decision making out and no so much the kind behind the nerfing of the dil event.... just saying
With the change last night, you can no longer research more than 1 item at a time. That is going to slow down the creation of the upgrade kits to about 40 years.
Can you advise if the ability to not be able to select 5 items to research at a time is a bug, or is it on purpose and permanent.

At the rate I'm going I'll probably have around 50-75 omega kits by the time the event ends... :P
