We recently came to the decision to allow the Omega Projects to remain available indefinitely, after the conclusion of the Anniversary Event.
We will be moving these projects to a new "Special Projects" R&D School in a future patch, so that they do not clutter up the Science R&D School as they currently are. The "Special Projects" School will behave very similarly to Officer Training in that it does not have any projects that reward, nor rely upon, Skill Levels or Research XP.
As stated previously, the Omega Stabilization Mini-Game (and thus source of Omega materials) will go away when the Event is over. But anything you have gathered between now and then will be yours to keep, and continue to refine forever.
So we can still work on crafting Omega kits until we run out of traces and won't be able to get anymore traces after the anniversary event is over? Figures. I was hoping it would stay for good. You finally give us a better way to upgrade our equipment but tell us it's a limited time only and still you do nothing at all to adjust the costs/dil/etc. for the upgrade system as a whole. This means after running out of tracing and not being able to craft any more Omega kits it's back to spending hundreds of thousands of dilithium to upgrade a single item to epic quality. Thanks a lot.
Edit: I really don't have the patience to sit there for hours on end, day after day, getting Omega traces so I can stock up on thousands of them before the event ends so I have a good supply to last me a while.

I was not expecting this, I really figured the ability to craft would go away with the event, so this is great news! Thanks

That's good to know, thanks. I was a bit worried that I'd have to spend the last day of the event just shifting materials all over my characters to get them all processed.
Join date is wrong, I've actually been around since STO Beta.
True alters don't have a "main". Account wide unlocks for all unique event rewards!!
With the change last night, you can no longer research more than 1 item at a time. That is going to slow down the creation of the upgrade kits to about 40 years.
Can you advise if the ability to not be able to select 5 items to research at a time is a bug, or is it on purpose and permanent.
Thanks

As I've mentioned in a few other threads on the topic: This was not an intentional change, and we're investigating why it occurred.
As far as we've found, it only seems to affect Omega refinement projects, and PADD component creating projects. All other component crafting allows quantity selection as before.

Fantastic idea, thank you!

here is a goofy thoughtput omega traces in rewards for completing elite stfs that way people will still find traces available and you coluld keep having people spendint dilithium to keep refing them to get upgrade
Thank you dev team for leaving this option open moving forward. I appreciate not having to consume all my R&D slots during this event to focus exclusively on refining materials before the ability disappears. Plus there will be a nice economy around omega particles moving forward too.

Damn fine decision. Thank you, once again, for being so quick to action feedback and questions from us forumites. I, for one, appreciate your show of support for us, and I would have said this even if the answer had been no because we'd at least have known about it quickly.

That's brilliant news on the projects staying thanks team and thanks Borticus for letting us know. Also the moving of the projects to their own "school" is another good move.
Do you have any info on when a fix for the broken slider on the projects may be coming in?

Thx, good to hear, you can refine them after the event, so i have not to rush them out and can concentrate on leveling up the schools.

Given that I haven't fully leveled enough of my crafting schools, this is much appreciated. Thanks for this, Borticus.
