The boosts are missing a zero or two at the end, right?!?
Have you tried the new forum on your phone?

Those "boosts" are aimed at people who don't know any better. Casual players who either just started the game, or play very little. They see a boost and don't consider the actual benefit, but buy it just for the name. Because "hey, it's a boost, it may come in handy!"...

That doesn't change the fact that this case is just borderline scam.

I realize Trendy is just the messenger and that the game is on a "monetize everything" power trip, but this is absolutely not useful at all.

If I were starting a brand new character tomorrow, I still would not find this useful at all given then way R&D works. It is not worth my time or money in any possible way.

Why would you not just spent the zen, if you really really had to power-level your R&D skill, on dil and get vastly more exp just from rushing project competitions? 800 zen is around 130,000 dilithium right now, which is enough to rush 7 projects for at worst (ie no crit bonuses) 42,000 exp.

Actually, now that I do the math, totally worth spending 800 zen on these boosters

800zen for a 10,000 boost is 130,400 dil at the moment. Just completing the 20hour bonus research project for 18,000 dil works out cheaper.

Only the most idiotic of players would waste real money or their dil reserves on this blatant cash grab.

    Solid catch, thank you.

More proof, as if more was needed, that Cryptic has no idea what the player base wants.
    Sad, really.

Way overpriced for the effect, same as skill point boosts.

For a moment I thought this would be a good way to get caught up on my crafting. I've jujst not wanted to do the grind. Then I saw the prices and abysmal bonus.

    NOPE.

I have absolutely zero problem with this.

If people want to spend their money on this - let them! Them putting $ in Cryptic's pockets keeps the game free (well almost) for the rest of us.

it’s all well and good to give players a boost at R&D...but why not give players a chance to us more of our EXP points

Let us convert our excess EXP into something useful like more specialization points ...new players get more chance to complete their intel and NOW the command tree.
Like most players I have over 8million EXP points I can’t use!! At this rate it’s gonna take months to do ½ the trees.

Sorry rant over...but doing Algala mission over and over is getting tried

800 zen for 10k XP bonus XP. Finish now on a research project awarding 6,000 XP = 18,000 Dil.

    800Z = about 128,000 Dil
    128,000 / 18,000 = 7.11 projects
    7 x 6,000 = 42,000 XP Instantly

So why would anyone in there right mind pay you for a booster that awards less than 25% of the XP as just using dil to do the research projects, and get there XP instantly instead of waiting on the time gates. Seems kinda like your trying to take advantage of people who can't do basic math.

The price seems unrealistic, and let's face it - a 20 % speed-up isn't worth bothering with either. Same problem as skill points, really.

They made it so you can slot 3 projects of the same school, 21000 xp a day. Why would i need a boost now? the 3x daily shaves off so much time a boost is just stupid, not to mention as others have pointed out the prices are crazy.

It's already been said countless times, but I have to agree...

The R&D points rewarded, for the Zen cost involved, is far too small, or the Zen cost is far too high...
The entitlement is strong in these forums...

This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

I mean, really. Who priced these? Who thought this was a good idea? Because this decision actually proves incompetence by whoever made it. If I were their boss, they'd be sacked, or at least put on a formal warning. Seriously.

I really, really need to do some video game marketing courses just to see how they are shaping their students who later work in the VG industry.

Because that'd probably give me several fits of healthy laughter. I mean, are they using Kraang/Iconian technology to brainwash them into reality-disconnected greedy zombies or something?

People won't buy that because it isn't worthing the price at all.

Not so sure about that. We've already had one player with no sense say he can't wait for this. Fools and their money.

Well, I mean, by all means, put these things in the C-Store. Why not?

Even the most cursory cost-benefit analysis, though, tells me I won't be buying them. They'd just be Zen down the drain. Sorry, but there it is.

I have to say, in general, R&D is not well served, because it just doesn't keep up with player levelling. By the time you've reached a point, developing a research school, where you can reliably craft basic Mk II items, you're already needing Mk IVs at the very least. This was true with the old crafting process, and it hasn't changed with the new one. Spending a lot of Zen on a nugatory boost isn't going to help any.

(I mean - well, I started my Talaxian toon just after playable Talaxians came out, and I'm playing her in the same desultory, casual sort of way I usually do. So she's now level 59, will reach 60 shortly, has three reputation trees maxed out and is flying a T6 ship... and she's reached level 14 in three crafting schools, and has a long way to go before reaching level 15, never mind 20. Now, by spending 800 Zen, I could cut the time needed to reach level 15 by 1/63rd! - not such a good deal, when you look at it like that.)

    Positive:

From a Cryptic point of view, it makes sense to add these to the C-store, as other boosts are in there as well.

    Negative :

The player base has had enough time without paying with dil to remove the time gates to hit lvl 15 on crafting, so their is a reduction on the need to purchase them.

The addition of being able to run 3 of the same school XP projects further reduces the needs for them.

These boosts are available through the Vaddwarr lockbox, and are pretty cheap on the exchange, no one would be able to make the same amount of EC from selling keys then selling these boosts on the exchange.

    Just my observations.

Why of cousre you are Oh GREEDY ONE,"Let them grind R&D KAKE for a year then dangle XP boosts for $$$$ in front of them and they will pay". We knpow why they changed COOs, the one we have is figuring how how to squ$$$$$Ze the fandom! How about you just boost the xp gained per instance or nerf that geometric curve a bit eh?

GAWD I hope one of the CBS trustees has a kid that gives this a try and finds out what you are doing. Then you can deal with the massive CLASS ACTION from the consumers when the liscense is pulled and you have to sell out to the private trust to pay off/ settle the suit.......
