It is possible to get Omega Slivers (Uncommon), Shards (Rare) and Fragments (Very Rare) from the mini-game, though the chances are very small. The higher your score, the better your chances.

Reporting that the Omega Particle minigame in Sol System is bugged - have completed it almost 12 times and it will not trigger it as completed!! Can someone fix this please and ty!

I'd be happy it worked right and registered for the daily. I thought that was the point of last night's patch, it's still not registering in some places.
Is that where you were supposed to go? For me it was Starfleet Academy. When I got back into the system last night I knew that I had to go to the Academy but saw the Omega by ESD. Did that and I think I got about 40 points but then it stopped updating numbers. So I beamed down and started one there and after about 15 points it said I was done, and I now had completed the Mission assigned.
Like the Dyson Battlezone, if you are supposed to take two areas in the City and you do the Park instead and complete two areas there, you DO NOT get the mission completion credit. You earn stuff but what you did was not the assigned objectives.

Thanks, any ballpark what kind of score would be needed for a chance at better than white traces? So far my best was 840ish I think.
I can confirm that the Sol system particle doesn't advance the quest, other locations have worked so far but this one is dead, Jim.
Sweet! Ta for the tip. Key with minigame I reckon is arrow keys. I treat it like a magic eye picture and have got up to 2000. If you want to Max out R and D possibilities I reckon it's a blessing timewise you can get something with 0 points!

Hehe, I got a fragment of a score of 2800 last night. That was awesome

2800? I've done perfect runs a few times and topped out at 2600 each time.
So far for me it seems like if I break 2000 I have a better than even chance of getting a sliver, with a small (~10%) chance of a shard and a very small (~5%?) chance of a fragment.

I call schenanigans because I can perfect the game consistently and can tell you the max score is 2600.
Incidentally, a score of 2400 give me a sliver most of the time (70-80%), a shard at times (10%), rarely a fragment (2%), and any other time it ends early or gives me a trace.
I think the Omega Mini game sucks there is definately NO Joy on successfully collecting a stable Omega in Sol. Cannot speak for other sectors but when the Sol system one is bugged it puts a dampner on doing the mini game.
Do not know about anyone else, but I would have preferred a STF type mission to earn the Commendations, like what was done with the Crystaline Entity onetime.
But Noooooo it had to be this mini game, I have to wonder to the game Admin(content creators) ever consider that some of the content they put out should not have been put up!
Collecting Particles is sooooo boring, the Featured episode was a little frustrating but better than collecting particles to make a stable Omega.
It is a shame you can only collect Commendations for the Featured Episode only ONCE, as despite the annoying maze part I would do it again for more Commendations.
So now my main char has put in 400 Commendations for the Kobali Cruiser, but that is how it will remain as I will not be going back to do the Omega mini game, then again my main char is Tactical so getting a Cruiser is not really important to me.
Still the particle collection mini game sucks and is so boring I would rather watch some ice melting over time.
I was wondering that, seemed to get a sliver under 1000 twice but never got one over 1000. Odd it isn't points equal item rather than points equal increased probability of item. A little frustrating. Also it seems the Romulans just get their allied power's zones rather than Romulan-specific zones but I may just not have run through enough yet.
But despite that, and the occasional bugs, it's quite fun. It is great getting everyone out into these zones we don't usually visit. Makes you think about how it would be great to get out to them more often. Perhaps less things in the UI and at ESD and more things spread out across the planets (Andorran doffs, boffs and weapons only available at Andoria for instance).
Loving Q's little comments as we go around - I hope next year we have his voice. Would be amazing.

It's the same way the mining thing works... higher score means higher chance for a mat. Results not guaranteed.
I'd like to see a few other prizes added to the potential pile - In addition to the trace/sliver/shard/fragment. Nothing big, say one of the following for scores in excess of 1,000: 1-5 random marks, 10 Dil, common/uncommon R&D materials, little things like that, just to makes things a little more interesting on payout.
Got shards and fragments from scores upwards of 1200. Reckon I''ve got about 10 all in from around 180 attempts. (I've been off today! ;-)
Oh man... I really suk at this game then, the best I've done so far is 700.

Would be nice if there was some kind of guaranteed base that the weights could be added on top of.
Getting a trace for a score > 2000 is kind frustrating, when one could have done nothing at all and gotten the same thing.
I suppose that is the crux of the matter. When your high score repeatedly gets the same result as if you just leave it running without moving the arrow (indeed, most bug crashes on it also give trace) then what is the point in playing? I think it is the combo of the impossible-to-fail plus extreme-rare-higher-reward makes the game not as rewarding as it could be. For me, the main fun is being sent on a galaxy-wide chase and seeing normally empty maps brimming with players.

like the dil mining game, your score is not a simple function of the number of particles. Actually I think it uses the same system....
5, 5, 5, 5, 5
10, 10, 10, 10, 10
15... etc...
Enh... I don't know the exact specifics though. It might start at 10 each and go up every fifth one. Although, my math suggests that if that is true the minigame has 65 particles to catch.
EDIT: I don't think that's it since the last particle is worth either 100 or 50 points, and the way I did the math would require it to be 70. But it's the same principle, with different numbers.

Whoops, misremembered Still got the fragment, though. Got another one yesterday

The lowest scores I had when I received Omega Silvers were 900 and 920, but I had plenty of scores over 1,000 that only gave me commons.
