New tribble notes included lower padd costs and crafting times. No mention about a mechanism of saving higher skills from boxed up boffs before their skills disappear.
I am going to try and test this over the weekend - since it likely goes live in a few days not much point but here is my question....
Is this yet another system where we have grind out more levels like Rep and R&D, because even without testing, I can tell the Devs right now that that I don't want to have to mindlessly level another thing in this game. Especially something that I would have leveled years ago if it had been in game. R&D was my tedium cap. I haven't even bothered with Delta Rep.
I found that Training Manuals need "Any civilian or officer" that I do not have.
I have a total 98 duty officers, only 7 of them are doing assignments.
I can't see why the "Requires" field still keeping red-out and telling me that "You do not have a required Duty Officer."
On the crafting screen, it provides no information on the power/skill.
So if you don't really know what all the stats are for say delegated devastation you have open the specialization screen and just mouse over icons till you find it. Some I think are also bonuses for leveling and not really listed anywhere in those trees.
No where in the crafting screen is there info on what you crafting.
My BOs aren't listing their passives. If you click on their Passives tab it just lists their trained skills but no racial or general like Efficient or Subtrafuge. I brought two fresh crewmembers on and they listed their appropriate racials in Passives. If its just a display issue that's one thing but if they actually lost those passives. I mean seriously, forcing me to keep Tovan with no traits. That's cruel.
hmmm - I was looking for my post here and didn't find it. not even with search function with my name...well then, again:
The idea itself is brilliant! As was loadouts - if only they worked proplery. And that's my fear here as well.
Price: 500 Dil seems a lot. But then again, I can buy ONE embassy BOff and use him on every build. Which wasn't possible before. Also I need less BOffs, hence less Zen to buy BOff slots.
As a few players pointed out: some skills are currently untrainable- I hope that will change.
Also: I don't get why I need to trian my toons in ground skill to be able to train science team and engineering team - which are space skills.
suggestions for otherwise untrainable skills:
.) assign them to existing skill (like energy weapon specialisation)
.) like in R&D rep, unlock them at a certain Tier (pls not T15)
.) make them trainable if you have one BOFF that has the skill (ie: he/she/it trains other BOffs)
This is definietly a step forward - again -, if it works. I am really looking forward to that system going live.

when you move your cursor over that red icon. it say "Any civilian or officer" but seems that all of us didn't have that "Any officer" in our Doff roster.
this ST.47.20150112a.6 had so many bugs and did kidding us so much.
Now they're going to pre-patch this buggy version to the Holodeck for the next update.
Simply that means, they totally ignored our comments and concerning.

I have the same issue with needing any civilian or officer to craft the training manuals in the R&D officer training tab but none of the doff's I have will slot to it. That makes all the upper tier boff skills unobtainable, not just the ones that come with special boff's.
Edit:
Upon aquiring a blue boff from the exchange that came with no skills at all, I can not train her after buying the appropriate manual from the boff trainer on ESD. The skill becomes available but clicking the learn button does nothing.

I think MAYBE they're going to add a new specialization to DOff. And maybe they'll give that new DOff to us just like the launch of the R&D school. Then that'll solve the "any officer" issue.
Since this buggy version had been already pre-patched to Holodeck. I afraid that we have to face all the bugs in the next Holodeck's update.

You mean you craft those Level III Training Manuals without problem?
I had already crafted PADD, but it just didn't detect my free officer while I try to craft Level III.
Not just me got this problem.
May I ask, are you PWE's players or returning Cryptic's players ?
Or are you a Lifetime Subscriber ?
I suspected there're something different between them.
When I have used specialization qualifications on BOFFs, they still use their old skills instead of the new Int or Com skills slotted to their power bars. For instance, my Eng/Int BOFF has 4 Int powers slotted, and uses nothing but Eng powers in combat.
I purchased a Tac/Com BOFF, trained her with a set of Com powers, but was not able to slot the powers to her until I switched to a different map.
I can create T3 manuals for Com and Intel powers, but I cannot create the standard T3 (Eng/Sci/Tac) as it says I do not have the right kind of DOFF. I have almost every type, so I believe that to be a bug.
Rare Boff Abilities - When the system is released it will retrain any Rare Boff Abilities that a Boff had to begin with (so if a player accidentally untrained a rare ability, they will get it back on that Boff). We are also planning on releasing those Rare Abilities as Training Manuals in the future but we have not determined the method on it yet.

OMG DO NOT release the game like this!!!
I've been playing the game since Open Beta, and if you do this, this will be one of the BIGGEST mistakes made with this game, and will guarantee to lose players!
You are forcing people to use specific BOFF's! Sure the old players might have a couple of BOFFS setup in advanced, but if they do not (which 99% of the players will not do) they will be EXTREMELY angry about this!!!
I don't know who is at the top of the food chain there, but this is a critical mistake that needs to be brought up with whomever makes the final decisions.
Jellico....Engineer ground.....Da'val Romulan space Sci
Saphire.. Science ground......Ko'el Romulan space Tac
Leva........Tactical ground.....Koj Romulan space Eng
JJ-Verse will never be Canon or considered Lore...It will always be JJ-Verse

With the new BOff training, you can train only one purple BOff with full of 16 skills. No need to switch between different officer.

He's not saying 'all boffs will reset to default'. He's saying 'any boff that was pregenerated as a mission/diplomacy/whatever reward will have any abilities from the pregeneration package added as KNOWN on top of whatever it currently knows.

Read the thread, look at it and try it on tribble...
There are ~30 skills that CAN NOT be trained as it sits on tribble. If the BO doesn't have one of those skills already when the patch hits, you will have NO possible way of getting that skill for said BOFF!
Want a BOFF with Torp Spread III and Attack Pattern Delta III? It won't happen after the new system goes live in its current state.
Want a BO that can swap between Torp Spread III and Beam Overload III? Nope, unless you train that Jem'hadar BO right now with BO3 and he keeps his original TS3 intact as planned.
Want to train your precious Romulan BO with TS3? Nope sorry, won't even be possible.
Nobody seems to realize how serious this is, but mark my words, a **** storm is coming as soon as this hits Holodeck...

but as I recall from the developer blog, the developer did say that, they'll implant more skills in the future, MAYBE those skills will become available to train through R&D manuals in the future, but really not on this version. The concept of training manuals and keeping more than 4 skills per BOff is great. We can just hope for that they're really going to implant more training manuals. If not, this will only become another buggy sh_t.

You're new here, so I'll give you the low-down. When Cryptic says 'in the future' it's usually not the next patch, or the one after that, you're lucky if it's within the same freaking year. There's stuff said to be coming from when the game was still in Beta 5 years ago that has not come to pass, and there's some stuff like the crafting revamp that only made it into the game recently that mentioned as being in the future shortly after the game went free-to-play years ago. If a needed system is not ready now, it's very, very, worrisome.

they're telling players to start from zero now.
As their last update from S10... "just throw away your T5 ship, and buy a T6."
So, this doesn't surprise me a lot.
Even with the "Any officer" bug that makes me can't even craft a III manual.
and this is the way they make money with.
So, MAYBE those manuals will be available on the C-Store soon.
Thanks everyone who provided feedback and informed us about any bugs you might have found when testing on Tribble. The team has been working hard to polish the system before it goes live and your responses have been very helpful. In particular from player feedback we made sure that the Training Manuals had their own easy to search categories within the Exchange. We also lowered the Dilithium cost and Time required to create the PADD component which is needed for crafting the High End Training Manuals.
One feature that will not be finished when the system goes live is the handling of rare abilities that can only be obtained from rare bridge officers (randomly generated or special mission rewards). We are still working on this feature and will provide more information on it in the future. For the moment though we wanted to inform the community that if they already have these rare bridge officers or obtain any in the future to not delete them. Make sure to keep them and once this feature is complete it will allow players to train other bridge officers with those rare abilities. The details on how this feature will function is still under review and development.

To be perfectly honest...
I see absolutely no point. It just takes something easy - click officer, click train - and adds pointless crafting (and resource sink).
I guess some people can sell these on the exchange but it just saves a little time since it was never an issue getting the officers trained.
gets a meh from me. current system works fine
same issue.
most of us don't have 1/2 hour to sit around and wait - ESPECIALLY since you could do the same thing before in like 30 secs.
The timed portion just needs to go away. Its just an obvious ploy to get people to spend dilithium.
I can not use the Train Command option on Non-Romulans.
It does not work on "Reward" Boffs like the Nelen the Voth or just generic KDF species. Only Romulan officers

you must start from zero again in the new R&D system.
