  time for another unexpected emergency maintenance i say
  
  even if its starts, its just unplayable with these massive continuous laggings spiced up with 10 second latencies

  I tried using Arc and the old STO Launcher with the same results...

  Same issue. At about 11:30pm PST Jan. 22, I got disconnected a second time from the game. I chose to exit the game and it proceeded to download a 3,113MB sized patch before closing. Now all I'm getting is this "unable to authenticate" error. The game launcher seems as though it's not even trying to connect and the server status dot is green and indicates the server is up.

  same here, http://stostatus.com shows servers down, while launcher shows status green

  It's frustrating if it's showing up green. They should take it down and fix the problem surely someone has said something. I'm hoping there up soon or later so close to getting VA and I was thinking of getting a ship with ZEN. There just losing money.

  Right now I can't even get that far. Launcher times out while trying to connect to the patch server. 23 attempts and then "naaah". Also the attempts are really close together, which means it only really tries for like 40 seconds. Surely if the server is busy it needs to try for a bit longer than that?

  Once it finally gets past the patch server, after a few dozen restart attempts, this pops up when trying to login:
  
  Unable to authenticate: Couldn't even attempt account server connection
  
  Is the game or PWE getting ddos'ed again or sumthin?

  I've been experiencing dfficulties trying to connect and play the game for alsmost 1 week now...
  
  I get disconnected by the server.. than when i try to reconnect... after 5 failed attempts
  
  NOTHING!!!
  
  Being a gold member.. shouldn't we be able to actually PLAY the game we paid for??

  Same here. At daytime no problems but for several evenings now (7:50 pm here) its as if somebody cut the connection to the US for STO.

  since a couple of weeks at 6.30 PM MET.
  Nothing Works.
  Laucher cant connect, SnRs, Login2_timeouts....
  ZERO INFORMATION SINCE THIS REPORTED!
