To fully support this feature, all Science Vessels (other than the Light Science Vessel) will now have a Secondary Deflector Slot. A good general rule of thumb is that if the ship has both Sensor Analysis and Subsystem Targeting, it will have a Secondary Deflector slot. This slot will be awarded to all new and existing Science Vessels.
Your Fleet Recon Science Vessel will get the slot, so how exactly are you "getting the middle finger"? Just because you won't automagically be gifted a Mark X Common version of the deflector that you'll likely toss in the garbage immediately anyway?

Q: Will my existing science ship automatically receive a Secondary Deflector?
A: No. However, any newly claimed Science ships will receive a Secondary Deflector. Alternatively, you can purchase a common Secondary Deflector from any energy credit starship equipment vendor
I feel as though deteriorating and inhibiting deflectors seem kind of redundant.
They both apply damage, they just do it in different ways. I expected the healing SecDefs to buff healing or resists and such, but I was expecting the other two to be a bit more varied.
The Solanae SecDef is the kind of stuff I was expecting, it heals your shields whenever you use drains, so I was hoping for inventive stuff like that on the generic ones. Holds cause system failure or make you go faster, particle gen skills debuffing target resistance, etc. At the very least, as much as more damage is nice, that two of the three SecDefs do damage is a profound lack of variety.
Good job reading the edit... next time don't shoot your mouth off so fast and be so quick to be condescending.
I agree!! People, stop the verbal vomit. Don't be so disrespectful of people just because this is the internet. I see allot of badmouthing of the devs and the game in general as well, which makes me sick (virtually speaking).
I applaud the further development of sci abilities with these new sec deflectors. I look forward to their arrivals!
I thought that science vessels with subsystem targeting was supposed to get secondary deflectors, and since the Atrox is SCIENCE based, and has subsystem targeting, why no secondary deflector for. Cryptic needs to either have ALL science based ships have secondary deflectors or none of them.
The Sar Theln should also have a secondary deflector since it is also science based.
Do you also have Sensor Analysis on those ships? I don't have those ships so that is an honest question.

If so, I've got a problem because only half of the science ships on my FED science toon have a secondary deflector.
No secondary deflector on my Wells Temporal Science Vessle (T5-U)
No secondary deflector on my Fleet Deep Space Science Vessel (T5-U)
No secondary deflector on my Multi-Mission Reconnaissance Explorer (T5-U)

Is it possible to have this Secondary Deflector slot moved to being next to the Deflector Slot? With it being below, it puts any ship with a hangar, like my Vesta, with the hangar overlapping the button at the bottom of the window.

4 Ship Modules to purchase Fleet Recon Science Vessel
1 Ship Upgrade Token to make it T5U
and STO gives me the middle finger on having a 2ndary deflector?
Yeah. STO doesn't care about science vessels or the people who fly them. That much is ABUNDANTLY clear.

.
Yeah, I don't think so.
So you have to spend 0 CREDITS if you want a common one. I hope you have a spare 0 credits to spend.

It DOES?! If so does the Recluse get one too?

Have I missed either how to get one/where it is, or when we're meant to get them?
I moved map and the slot appeared.
I'll shut up now.
Nope. The was Patrick Sterward (Picard) in Star Trek: First Contact.
*Cough* Insurrection *Cough*
EDIT: It appeared when I changed zones.
