what T6 starship trait unlocks would YOU like to see?

meldrithpwmeldrithpw Member Posts: 360 Arc User
with the t6 ships to date, I'm thrilled (no sarcasm). I can see the general trend toward defense for fed and offense for kdf (definitely need more here), and I think the rom need a little more sci type (singularity focused?) ship traits.

I also like the ideas that the devs have implemented with the cross faction ships so far, but greedy bstrd that I am, I want more.

I've suggested a cloak unlock with the B.E.A.S.T.E. and a pet kamikaze buff with the Drek'Hi.

but what do YOU guys want to see for trait unlocks in future ships?

I'd like to see a trait that makes the ai no longer immune to 99% of science powers. So I could shoot the Borg unimatrix in hive space with a confuse and it would shoot the other unimatrix at least once. Or I could placate a voth citadel dreadnaught and it would shoot someone other than me. Or I could use viral matrix on a tactical cube and it would lose shields and stop moving. Like, you know, how those powers are supposed to work.

Traits that are generally useful. Right now the ones off the Fed ships are useful under damn near any circumstances. Reciprocity or Battle Ready are handy on just about any build and the kind of things that proc every few seconds. However, the Klingon traits require specific weapons and powers, and the Romulan ones only work under certain circumstances. Something thats handy no matter what you fly is a lot more useful than something particular.

Anything non-budget coding, has to have an animation.

Since everything is now dps oriented in the whole game, it has to be dps.

Since of alts, it can't be weapon type specific, it can't be damage type specific.

I have looked at these T6 abilities and the only ones that I find any interest in is the 1 from the Breen carrier and maybe the 1 from the new Intrepid ship. They are not interesting enough for me to drop the money on thou. Maybe when the Fleet versions come out I may buy the fleet versions of those ships and get the traits that way, but not right now.

Any new faction T6 Starship Traits for the KDF & Rom factions. That would mean new T6 ships for them!

Two Traits for Rom and KDF that equal 1 Reciprocity. Meaning Two traits that individually are weaker than Reciprocity, but together work as well. So basically, 1 Trait that reduces Intel skill CDs each time you are missed, and 1 Trait that reduces Tac skill CDs each time you are missed.

It's giving the Rom and KDF players what they want, without straight-up giving them exactly what they want. And makes more money because they'd be attached to ships. And is well within Cryptic's standard.

And while they're doing this favor for KDF and Rom, release a Science-themed Reciprocity trait (reduces Science and Intel CDs each time you are missed) for a T6 Tholian Tarantula Science Dreadnought that is also able to use Tholian Frigates, and has the AoE Web Supercannon. Because that's even more money, and also something many players will want. Not to mention, would be another large and playable ship.

As for Feds, another cruiser, but with an Eng/Intel Reciprocity trait. While Rom and KDF also get the weaker equivalent (Eng-only Reciprocity trait) on a Warbird Cruiser and another Battlecruiser.

Other Masteries I'd like to see:
Nadeon Detonator-like Mastery Trait that works like the Sheshar's Mastery, except it's loaded every minute after using TS or HY, and is only slightly weaker than the console version. Probably on a Fed Sci ship.

Weaker variant of the Plasmonic Leech Mastery Trait. Probably on a KDF ship that can't even use it right because it only has Lt. Intel. But would sell regardless as it's still a low level Plasmonic Leech.

A weaker Singularity Stabilizer Mastery Trait that has a 50% chance of restarting a Singularity charge after being used. But without the extra quick-charge bonus the T'varo's console has. Probably on another light Warbird.

Photonic Multiplier on a Fed Sci ship; allows for double the Photonic Ships and improved Photonic abilities.

Improved Flanking on a KDF Raptor; just for more backstabbing power.

Thalaron Infusion on a Rom ship of Scimitar/Tal Shiar origins; basically adds a scaled down version of the Thalaron radiation special on each beam attack (doesn't work on cannons).

Mercenary Escort Contract on a Hazari ship; summons 2 Hazari ships to aid you when at 25% HP or less.

Law and Order on a Benthan ship; 25% bonus EC and XP gained upon destruction of outlaws, bandits, and pirates.

Antiproton Cascade on an Ancient Dyson dreadnought; lets loose an AP version of the Refracting Tetryon Cascade once every 30 seconds when using Beam abilties (FaW/BO/SS), except has a maximum range of 10km.

Proton Burst on an ancient Dyson escort; every 30 seconds, adds extra shots doing full Proton damage to cannons when using cannon skills (CSV/RF/SS). In effect, something akin to an "invisible" Proton cannon firing level 1 CSV/CRF/SS at the same time as your own cannon skills.

Neutronic Radiation Contrail on a Delta-themed Sci 3-pack (one Fed, one Rom, and one KDF); Adds a thin stream of Neutronic Radiation that follows the launch and flight path of any Neutronic or Quantum torpedo, and deals low level Neutronic Radiation damage to anything that passes through it (akin to EWP). Works with TS, HY, and any other Torpedo-boosting Mastery or ability (Load Viral Torp, Nadeon Detonator) as it just adds the trail effect.

    For Romulans:

Superior Deflector Technology (on a Romulan SCIENCE VESSEL): A scaling 5-25% Exotic Damage boost based upon Singularity Charge level. This is similar to the Scryer's trait, but it has a Romulan feel.

Superior Cloaking Systems (on a Romulan Carrier): Depending upon singularity charge level, activating Cloaking Ability applies a scaling hull heal and resistance buff, and a 5-25% reduction in all bridge officer cooldowns.

Superior Ordinance (on a Romulan Escort): All torpedo attacks gain 5-25% shield penetration, depending on singularity charge level.

    For Klingons:

Excessive Ordinance (on a Klingon Science Vessel): Activating any torpedo spread ability queues up a lesser version of that ability. For example, Activating Torp Spread III will net you a bonus Torp Spread II.

Excessive Force (on a Klingon Battle Carrier): Applies an accuracy debuff to your target whenever you or your pets successfully hit the target. 5% accuracy lost per hit, up to 50% can be achieved.

It is a Good Day to Die! (on a Klingon Raider): When activating Ramming Speed, your ship has 90% shield penetration, and sets the target's engine power to zero.

    For Feds:

Heroic Captain (on a Federation Cruiser): Any time you crit an enemy, you increase your own threat generation and decrease your teammates threat generation by 600%. This lasts 10 seconds. You gain +15 all resistances and +15 shield hardness for each target that fires upon you during this time.
Sardak (Science Officer): Captain of a 23k DPS R'Mor Temporal Science Vessel, R.R.W. Vathos
Odan Brota (Science Officer): Captain of a 28k DPS Scryer Intel Science Vessel, U.S.S. Kepler
Patiently waiting for a Romulan Science Vessel

I'd like to see some more carrier stuff, so I can have a full suite of fighter T6 traits. Also I'd love to see fluffy traits. So Undine ones (yes, yes, I know, but the ships are already in the game so might as well let us go full fluffy with them), or Borg-themed ones, or Jem'Hadar, or heck, even Ferengi. Things that are maybe more fluffy than generally useful. I know I'd use them.

IE Viral Matrix as a Starship trait? hmm... it'd have to be triggered by something else.

Well, the first thing I would like to see is every ship bought with real money to be upgraded to T6 and only free ships relegated to T5U. But that aside. I HATE that I have to spend real money for a ship upgrade token that doesnt give what I already paid for my full value for ships that were already supposed to be the best. I also hate having to choose between intel abilities and standard abilites in Boff seats. Intel seats should be added to existing capability.

I like what I see in the 5th abilities so far. Keep them close to that for each ship. If the ship is primarily a cruiser, make it something that boost the damage role, escort = something for survivability, sci ship = damage boosting.

Much higher on my list of priorities, however, is getting those secondary deflector slots added to all schience ships.

Sci ships are EXTREMELY underpowered, especially with cruisers like sheshar and scimitar. I swear by my fleet recon sci t5u, so here's some ideas of what might be nice to see:

-Scientific mastery: 5% chance of 100% damage/defense/potency increase to exotic damage/defense for 15s when using sci abilities.

-Adaptive Starship: allows ability to mount dual/DHC cannons on science ship.

-Battle Readiness: Sci ships can move 1 aft weapon to 1 forward weapon slot (eg. 4/2 loadout).

-Shuttle Upgrade: Sci ships now have 1 deployable hangar bay outfitted with 2x delta flyers

-Experienced Crew: One BOFF slot on a starship can be upgraded to the next higher ability level (eg. Ensign > LT).

-Elite Clandestine Infiltration: 15m cooldown. When activated, grants abilities and DPS of any 1 targeted ship for 60 seconds. When that ship is destroyed, the ability terminates. All existing abilities and weapons are offline during the duration that this is active.

-Infinite Improbability Drive: 1% chance that any incoming fire will transport ship to a position facing the enemy ship's rear quarter.

    :D

Uh, yeah, that would be mandatory. On every ship. Period. The potential for abuse here is insane.

Well given the anemic DPS of science ships, if it were LIMITED to science ships, I don't think the "Abuse" would really unbalance the game". Most science ships don't really have 3 & 4 slot boff stations for tac/eng. On Fleet Recon Sci T5U, for example, that would only allow for a single LtCdr slot on tac or eng (or a second CDR slot for science).

Might also be nice to see a FED ability that boosts crits--since Romulans have Romulan Operative, and FED has no similar ability.

Well, since 100% of the ship traits thus far are account-wide and not limited by ship class...

THIS. Cryptic, Where's the secondary deflectors for the rest of the science vessels in the game for example? It's been nearly a year now since they first appeared on the DSD and it's variants.

t6 trait - space and ground, god mode. immune to everything, can not take damage, cant be destroyed/killed, always at full power in all systems, god mode also provides by automatic:

[Troll beam bank MK XXXV] x 6, x7 or x8 based on endgame ship.
    has 360 angle fring arc
dps 100x greater then anything else in the game and have this many is just a.. trolling exercise. takes very little power.

    and

    [Troll rifle mk XXXV]
    has a range of 200m
dps is off the chart! full auto none stop firing and no reload, 100% hit every round.

im being fairly serious about what trait i want. if your gonna go for a fantast trait, you may a swell go for the really satsifying ones :P.
    T6 Miranda Hero Ship FTW.
Been around since Dec 2010 on STO and bought LTS in Apr 2013 for STO.

Hmmmm...something that would suck to code, TRIBBLE people off, and yet, would be satisfying and awesome? Esp. for a KDF or Romulan player?

Nemesis Trait. Attacks directed at the owner have a 2.5% chance per attack of triggering a 'Nemesis Pulse" that knocks all Tier Six traits in the area of effect offline, enforcing a cooldown of trait bonuses of 300 seconds before the traits are available again for use. This trait also knocks out the owner's Tier six traits for 150 seconds.

Available on the T6 Bird of Prey that Cryptic won't ever build, or the T6 Romulan Raider that Cryptic won't ever build.

Here's the logic behind putting it on a Raider platform:

The more hits you survive, the more likely it is to trigger. So, you package it with the softest non-shuttle ships in the game, and if it works, it levels the playing field for five minutes or so.

The logic there certainly makes sense. I mean, it wouldn't make any sense at all if the way ship traits worked was that you only needed the ship they're on to unlock the trait and then you can use it on any ship you want, because that would completely invalidate the logic you posted there, but that'd just be crazy talk.

For klingon I'd like to see a T6 carrier trait that changes the hangar pet weapons to the type that is currently being used by the carrier AND have the Tac consoles in turn be able to affect the pet damage.

I'd like one that is tested before release to make sure it doesn't create in infinite loop with another trait that crashes everyone in an instance.
